Mama Grizzly vs. Mama Grizzly: Sarah Palin Blasts Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski

Aug 23, 2010 5:34pm

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports: Sarah Palin is weighing in on tomorrow’s Alaska GOP Senate primary with a blistering attack on the state’s senior senator, Republican Lisa Murkowski. Today, Palin is out with a recorded telephone message on behalf of Murkowski’s opponent, Joe Miller, that portrays her insufficiently conservative. In the message, Palin praises Miller – a Tea Party favorite who suggested, in an interview on Top Line, that unemployment benefits “are not constitutionally authorized” – but is most emphatic when she attacks Murkowski. “Joe is a common sense conservative who understands the founders wrote the constitution to limit the power of the federal government.  He’s got the backbone to confront Obama’s radical agenda,” Palin says.  “By contrast, Lisa Murkowski has voted with Democrats more than any Republican up for re-election this year. She’s waffled on the repeal of Obamacare, co-sponsored cap-and-trade and voted for TARP. Joe Miller has the right ideas for Alaska. Join me in voting for Joe Miller on August 24.” Palin has also been waging a Twitter campaign against Murkowski, most recently tweeting out links to a recent debate between Murkowski and Miller and tweeting, “Wow! What dfference betwn candidates’worldview!” There’s a Hatfields-vs-McCoys element here. Palin unseated Gov. Frank Murkowski, Lisa Murkowski’s father, to become governor of Alaska in 2006.  Now she’s hoping to take down his daughter. The Palin call can be heard HERE. Watch our GMA report: — Jonathan Karl
