Vitter Overcomes Scandal in Louisiana GOP Senate Primary
ABC News' Amy Walter reports: In his first electoral test since prostitution scandal and revelations — first reported by ABC News — that he employed a staffer who pled guilty to abusing his girlfriend, Sen. David Vitter easily won a three-way Republican primary. With 48 percent reporting, Vitter was taking 87 percent of the vote against his underfunded opponents.
In the Democratic primary, Dem. Rep Charlie Melancon was ahead with 67 percent.
Vitter is favored to win in November.
