Analyst Charlie Cook Says Dems Likely To Lose The House

ABC's Amy Walter reports: The pre-eminent guru of congressional politics (disclaimer: I once worked for him) writes today that: "For the first time, our internal race-by-race model estimates a GOP gain of over 40 seats… the minimum to give them majority status, and very possibly substantially more." At this point, Republicans need to net 39 seats to win control of Congress. In a “wave” election as this is shaping up to be, my experience is that the losing party lost far more seats than were estimated at the race-by-race micro-level. Cook joins University of Virginia's Larry Sabato who projected that Republicans would net 47 seats – more than enough to win control of Congress. And last night, Stuart Rothenberg, the country’s other congressional election expert, upped his projections for GOP gains to 37-42 seats. – Amy Walter
