Does Secretary Clinton Have What It Takes?
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today stepped into the international spotlight, assuming the day-to-day responsibility of trying to broker a Mideast peace that has eluded her predecessors for decades.
"I think she has credibility. Now whether that translates into diplomatic skills, I don't know," said Shibley Telhami, the Anwar Sadat professor for peace and development at the University of Maryland. "Frankly, she's untested as a mediator."
But others say Clinton’s skills as a politician may help her understand not just the policy – but the tricky politics of the Israeli and Palestinian leaders selling the negotiations back home.

Human rights commission along human traffickers, child prostitution rings, and political hangings and beheading. But, since you mentioned it, do you know the result of the hearing today at Ft Meade requesting Obama’s birth certificate and college records?

“Wrong., referencing our anti-American administration sending Arizona to the U.N. Human rights commission along human traffickers, child prostitution rings, and political hangings and beheading.”
You mean this
AP: “The 29-page report was submitted to the Human Rights Council on Friday but was not published until Monday. Members of the council, which the United States joined only last year, are required to submit reviews of their rights records. The report was the first “Universal Periodic Review” produced by the U.S.”
Its amazing how many pieces of straight forward news are turned into horrifying fictions.
How do right wingers leave the house with that kind of paranoia?
“But, since you mentioned it, do you know the result of the hearing today at Ft Meade requesting Obama’s birth certificate and college records?”
Actually I do.
“The judge ruled Thursday that those records and any other evidence or witnesses pertaining to Obama’s birth are not relevant to the case and will not be admitted”
Phil Cave who is a Jag and went to the proceedings has a summary in his blog.
Not sure how someone who had the intelligence and talent to make it so far in the military would flush his career down the toilet over internet conspiracy theories.

“Gov. Brewer Outraged over Clinton’s UN Report”
“”The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional.”
The report also covered slavery and Jim Crow.
Which were duly enacted (and morally reprehensible) state laws.
This is like fanatical Imam being upset that a country reports on the practice of stoning adulterers.
Also Jan Brewer apparently can’t remember what she has done for Arizona in opening statement for debate.
It really sucks to flush your principles to side with bigots in hopes of re-election.

UN Office of High Commission for UN Human Rights Council
“What is the Universal Periodic Review?
The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a review of the human rights records of all 192 UN Member States once every four years. The UPR is a significant innovation of the Human Rights Council which is based on equal treatment for all countries. It provides an opportunity for all States to declare what actions they have taken to improve the human rights situations in their countries and to overcome challenges to the enjoyment of human rights. The UPR also includes a sharing of best human rights practices around the globe. Currently, no other mechanism of this kind exists. “

Hillary is someone I like and admire and she served as my Senator for some time. I firmly believe that for 2012 we should unearth a fresh, new and younger candidate for the Republican nominee. Hillary has become a retread, someone who I do not remember when she was was not in the mix. The American people want to see new faces in times of trouble. Hillary has had her day and planning to relax might be a goos idea.

Denied. A military judge ruled today that “birther” Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin’s excuse for ignoring orders to deploy to Afghanistan was “an erroneous view of the law” and President Barack Obama’s records are irrelevant.
Lakin wanted a copy of Obama’s birth certificate (as if there are not enough photographs of it on factcheck) so he could prove President Obama was ineligible to be commander in chief.
A sad example of what happens when people embrace stories from an alternate dimension. This “birther” faces more than 3 1/2 years in prison if he’s convicted.

Seriously, after his defense made the argument that any and all orders are illegal and that the military is ready to mutiny, they are going to throw the book at him.
At first I thought maybe he would get a discharge, maybe a reduction in rank and pension.
But the way his defense has acted, he is in real trouble of serving prison time.

Please do not mis-characterize what the judge said. Lind, who took 40 minutes to read her decision to the court, disagreed.
She said “opening up such evidence could be an “embarrassment” to the president, and it’s up to Congress to call for impeachment of a sitting president.”

They appear to be using a observer’s tweet of their opinion, not an actual transcript of court proceedings

Good on ya, irma. I agree with you.
Interesting observation at the Economist’s Democracy in America blog: “something happened yesterday that, to my recollection, has never happened before, at least not with such clarity: in the midst of direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, a deadly attack took place, and rather than call off the talks, both sides resolved to keep going. In fact, they both explicitly characterised the attack as an attempt to sabotage the talks, and insisted they wouldn’t be sidetracked.”
Don’t know if that’s a good sign, but we shall see.

Ryan, greenie don’t be surprised if these issues aren’t out in the open in six months.Larry Sabato (a closet Democrat but a fairly good political scientist) says that the GOP will take the House and the Senate will be 50-50.If the Senate is in play to that extent you will be seeing real investigations into these matters. They probably are not necessary-If Obama doesn’t have his water-carriers in the Congress what’s left of his administration will shrivel up and collapse.Romer’s fairwell comments were in keeping with the rest of these incompetents-she didn’t recognize how bad things were, she was surprised that her actions were ineffective and SHE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW!How about a press conference Mr. Obama?

As for the planned investigations— yes, we know. At a time when our resources should be directed at the kinds of things they’ve been directed at — legislating, small business aid, health insurance and consumer protections for the people, financial regulation, green initiatives, infrastructure, jobs bills, unemployment extensions, holding onto the jobs of police officers, firefighters, and teachers, improving care and benefits for veterans, science, IT; etc.– the Republicans, once elected intend to initiate a bunch of bogus investigations and shut down DC.

Probably not, although not due to shortcomings on her part. What fool believes that a different “personality” will make a difference in this ongoing dispute between Israel and the Palestinians? The issues are substantial and not trivial. The solution will take new ideas and also is not possible with Hamas holding so much power.
Regardless, it is not really our problem. I don’t know why we always have to be so involved in this. I’d prefer to sit to the side and let the two sides slog it out, maybe some other countries in the area could try and help.

Why do the Obama haters dance and gloat when data shows new jobs are not being created fast enough to compensate for the loss of public jobs? Why would anyone be delighted to see a neighbor out of work and then perpetuate gloom & doom?
In the real world, “August’s payroll report is reassuring,” said Paul Ashworth, senior U.S. economist for Capital Economics. “While economic growth may have slowed, it is not collapsing.”
And, upward revisions for June and July showed there were 123,000 additional job gains in those months than previously reported. In response US Stock futures turned sharply higher this morning.
Even with this small glimmer of positive news, the private job market is still soft. Treading water is not good enough after such large job losses since 2007.
80% of America’s jobs lost since the beginning of this recession came from Small Businesses. And meanwhile, the help Small Businesses need sits stalled in Congress, a victim of political games. It’s time for our public servants to stop the foot dragging.

Don’t have what? We can argue until you are blue about the Stimulus. Doing nothing seems to be the solution proposed by Republicans, and it’s all about politics, not your neighbors who can’t buy groceries.
For example, the Small Business stimulus bill, including tax relief that may help our neighbors, was bogged down with delays and inappropriate Republican amendments. Then the Senate left for vacation, doing nothing.
And with that, I am too. Have a nice holiday Nephron.

And it would state the place of birth as wherever the baby was born.

“On Obama’s it says Honolulu.” – Ryan C
Well that’s the best news I’ve heard in a long while on this issue. That means if Obama was born in Honolulu then there’s a hospital with his long form Birth Certificate on record. Let’s see it.
Now if he wasn’t born in Honolulu then it makes sense that that’s the default city someone puts on the form for a baby born outside of the US when the mother comes home and requests a United States Birth Certificate. It is also feasible that a kind heart soul helped out a young American mother bringing her baby back to the USA.
Personally, I think this birther stuff is all a waste-o-time. If we ever got a long form from NoBo, at this point you’d logically could consider it a forgery. We aren’t ever going to really know if he was born in the USA.

“Now if he wasn’t born in Honolulu then it makes sense that that’s the default city someone puts on the form for a baby born outside of the US when the mother comes home and requests a United States Birth Certificate”
Yet it makes total sense if you’re a birther.
In the real world, if Obama had been born in another city, that city would be listed.
BTW, the law you cite about people born out of state of Hawaii being able to get a COLB from Hawaii (which would not suddenly make Hawaii their location of birth)did not exist until 1982.
“If we ever got a long form from NoBo, at this point you’d logically could consider it a forgery.”
Perfect birth logic.
Put out a rumor that Obama was born in Kenya.
When faced with Obama posting his birth certificate, call it a fraud.
Now even a long form that has yet to be produced is suspect!
Which brings me to the real point of birthers, their problem with Obama is his skin color, not his paperwork.

“That means if Obama was born in Honolulu then there’s a hospital with his long form Birth Certificate on record. Let’s see it.”

The hospital birth certificate is a temporary record that hospitals transfer to the state/county registrars (sometimes the parents have to, sometimes the hospital sends the info directly).
Its not an official record of birth.
So in short birther demand Obama’s long form hospital birth certificate that is non official and would not be accepted for passports, social security etc but they will not accept a state issued birth certificate that is accepted for passports, driver’s licenses etc.
Oh yeah I forgot and now if the long form shows up its an assumed forgery.

You may be obsessed with this issue Ryan.
I read what you posted so the Hospital doesn’t have the long form but the local government in Hawaii does. That’s OK with me. Let’s see it.
btw, I didn’t site any Law but it’s nice that Hawaii made one in 1982 to deal with the issue. Before that it was standard procedure? You don’t need a law to do lots of things especially before a government becomes a Nanny State.

How silly you are Ryan. Government is always behind when it comes to something new such as Airline Travel. So before Hawaii made it’s law, there were people who traveled and had babies outside of the US. These people entered back to their home states and wanted documentation for their kids. Only a dolt would think that some sort of an accommodation wasn’t made.
You obviously don’t know what you are talking about and are desperate to stick to the official talking points regarding the birth certificate. Perhaps you have mucked around a little on line and saw some logic regarding the birther’s stance and are afraid to look deeper.

Sometimes I feel sorry for you Ryan, as you have been duped and aren’t aware enough to see it yet. But this time, nah. I didn’t claim willy nilly. As to facts, the spin you hurl rarely has any facts left in it.
Now back to the silly birther thing that bothers you so much.
The story Ryan C tells: “Obama’s pregnant mother flew to Kenya to have him and knowing that someday he would be President arranged for a birth certificate from Hawaii.”
Stanley Obama wasn’t smart enough to think that far ahead. A more likely scenario might have been she had Barry in Kenya and on the way home realized that her son would be much better off as an American so she went through the process to get him registered in the USA as a citizen.
Now to ease your mind, I am not purporting that this is what happened, only that it was a possibility which has fermented due to NoBo’s unwillingness to show his long Form Birth Certificate.

Which you claimed must be fraudulent sight unseen.
