It’s not like being black. Perverted behavior is not analogous to skin color, and yes, that’s my opinion (and that of MANY others including my Bible) on the behavior being perverted. That being said, I’m retired military and I’ve served with gays and lesbians. The ONLY thing I didn’t like was unwanted advances on a few occasions, but I handled it. This issue is much bigger, though. They will deserve equal rights (medical, PX privileges, housing, etc.) for their legal partners. That’s only fair. So now what do we do with the hetero single member who chooses not to marry and also wants those same privileges for his or her brother, uncle, sister, etc.? Big ol’ can of worms …

LOL. Like they don’t already spark sexual relationships. I knew a guy that joined the Marines straight and came home gay. I don’t think it really matters if someone keeps their mouth shut or not. It occurs quiet often. All kinds of gay stuff happens among men in the military.

So McCain’s against ending DADT. Well, maybe some gay soldier long ago might have well taken his place for 7 years in the Hanoi Hilton torture house.
Except they didn’t want to serve a country wwhere they are demonized.
And why did McCAin end up in the Hanoi Hilton? I was a LT in charge of tactics on the carrier from which he flew on that fateful day. Also a former pilot from another carrier who could no longer fly because my eyesight deteriorated slightly.
McCain violated his orderes, which were if your bomb missed a target you don’t go back and try again. Because the enemy is now very well prepared and knows what to expect. And on his seconed pass he got shot down.
McCain is a disgrace to his nations uniform, and our country. He would continue throwing good soldiers out of the service to cater to religious bigots. BTW we knew we had about 100 gay people on the carrier out of 2000. It wasn’t an issue.
But who knows whether other American Pilots died because McCAin violated his orders, and got captured. So he wasn’t available to help his fellow pilots in subsequent air raids.
His discharge should be changed to dishonorable. And posted in the senate chambers for all to see.
And btw, his moral values included divorcing the wife who waited faithfully for 7 years for his return.
To marry a woman who is worth over 200 Million dollars.
So he could afford is it 8 homes, and he most likely owns a private Jet. Costs start near $7 million, and you better have a million a year to pay for fuel, maintenance and insurance.

All of you who are spewing these words are worse than the words you are spewing. You should know better, you should be setting the example. Instead you are showing hate, bigotry, and segregation toward a people you know very little about. Where is your tolerance? Where is your love?
Practice what you preach or shut up!
You want religious people to shut up. You want religious people to go hide in a closet. You want religious people to accept your ideas and beliefs as equal to your own. But, all you have is venomous words in return to them.
May your eyes be opened and the truth be revealed.

Of all the major nations, only the military of the United States is insane enough to attempt an idiotic compromise between upholding the absolute rights and freedoms of it’s citizens, including gays, while at the same time attempting to appease the religious bigots that infest not only the military but the nation at large.
Every other major nation on this planet allows gays to serve openly, and have for decades, and there has been no impairment of their efficacy because of it. So the people who trot out the “this will hurt the ability of our soldiers to fight in a time of war” are just full of crap. And they know it, too. That’s irrelevant to them. All that matters is protecting their institutionalized bigotry and hate.
But appeasement of bigots in military policy will have exactly the same result as appeasement of terrorists and theocrats and thugs has in foreign policy. Failure. Dismal failure.
