If you indeed understand the power and the truth of the teachings of Jesus then please go ahead and tell the world that the United States of America is a Christian Nation born from those values and principals.
You do not have any problem calling other countries Muslim Nations.
You should not have a problem being proud of our heritage.

I wasn”t at this gathering and cannot speak regarding the President’s declaration of faith in the teachings of Jesus. However, his father had no part in raising him; his mother and her family which did, while not church goers were Christians. He made a conscious choice to be baptized as a young adult, a much more meaningful acknowledgement of faith than having been baptized as an infant.
Tho the majority of Americans follow some form of Christianity, the Founding Fathers of our country were deists, meaning they had faith in a Higher Power, but abstained from declaring the path they chose to observe their faith.
The U.S. is not “Christian” nation. the U.S. is a nation of many faiths founded on the precept of freedom of religion for ALL. The U.S. is a democratic republic wherein however any of us believe is a private matter. When President Obama refers to “Muslim” countries, he’s referring to those countries where Islam is the state religion and those countries are theocracies.

As for the Bible stating ‘we are our brothers’ keepers,’ I suggest that you read or re-read the tale of Cain and Abel and the one of Jacob and Esau, both of which may be found in the Old Testament. The teachings of the Old Testament are no less valid than those espoused in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which form the core of the New Testament.

i don’t get how people are upset by this or think it was a politically damaging statement. so, he chooses to be a christian, as opposed to what, being “born” a christian? i thought his answer was, for an extemporaneous response, thoughtful and compelling.

‘The Precepts of Jesus Spoke to Me’ and told me how I can make a buck. he shows me everyday he’s a Christian by how he puts the screws to the country.

I can’t help but think it would be best for everyone if we stopped having reports about this President’s faith. I don’t think most people care, but frequent reports about it are an invitation for us to find it important.

Obama happily uses his non-traditional upbringing when it suits him, and if you look at the polls, it seems that people of all political persuasions have noticed. That doesn’t mean they care, and most would happily let Obama get on with his own personal beliefs if the media and his advisors would just stop asking us to care.

He is a Christian, no doubt about it! The problem I have as well as so many is that his religious beliefs and value systems are likely based on black liberation theology and racist hatred spewed by the Rev Jerimiah Wright. Yea, don’t like raising that ugly one up again, but he never did satisfy to my liking the questions posed to him during and after the campaign about his relationship with Wright. More importantly, he never appropriately explained away how he could sit and listen to Wright for 20 years and not be impacted with racist biases and ill-will to the Jews and whites.

Yes, America, Obama is a Christian by America’s own desire and definition. However, by God’s definition Obama’s life does not reflect a life of a true disciple of Jesus.

Obama sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years, listening to spews of anti-American hatred.
Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Biden, Kerry, Boxer and the rest of the liberals in Congress, along with the biased media and ACORN, based the entire 2008 campaign on lies.
They have no problem governing against the will of the American people.
They will vote on raising taxes AFTER the November election.

The news media reported that poll result shown 18% of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim. 18 percent sounds like a very small minority and unimportant. What the media fail to elaborate is the same poll said only 34% or approximately one out of three Americans believe Obama is a Christian. This seems to be supported by the fact that during his administration, he and his family attended church service near the WH only four times

As my pastor of 25+ years has told me on more than one occasion “Some of the most hateful, un-christ-like people I know on the face of the earth are in attendance at my church, and church’s just like it, all over the world, every sunday”–Oh, and by the way-Where is this “fact” that Obama has only attended church 4 times since coming to washington–if that even has anything to do with anything–give us a link or something–Have you ever noticed that some of the biggest liars on the planet(ie;Fox news and coutless others)proceed every false statement they make with “It’s a fact” or better yet “EVERYONE KNOWS THAT” blah blah lie lie etc etc Funny how that happens!!

The idea that the number of times one has attended church makes that person a ‘better’ or ‘truer’ Christian is laughable. Some of the worst people I’ve known have gone to church on Sunday and Monday morning happily ripped off employees or customers or beat their wives or kids.
Actions speak louder than words. Obama has shown with his leadership on important issues affecting the health and well-being of Americans that he is indeed a Christian.

A Christian by choice, but not by act? Mr. President, our acts show our choices. You’re no Christian.

Jesus was a socialist. According the Acts of the Apostles the apostles and the Christian community pooled their resources together as one. I don’t recall Jesus saying “Going out and be Capitalists and make money!”

Mr. Obama does not know the true meaning of salvation, through Christ. Only he and GOD know what is in his heart. In my opinion Mr. Obama does not talk or act like a true Christian, he only wants Americans to think he is. He is like a willow Tree, anyway the wind blows, that is where he will be.
