ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports:   Senate Republicans today let Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski keep her post as their party’s top senator on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and elected Wyoming’s John Barrasso to fill her former position as vice-chair of the GOP conference.   Murkowski had given up her leadership position as vice-chair of the GOP conference in the wake of her decision to run as a write-in candidate in Alaska after losing her primary fight there. It was expected that she would be removed today as the top Republican on the Energy panel, too.   But Senate Republicans this afternoon chose not to vote on that issue at a brief closed-door meeting in the Capitol, so Murkowski’s post on the panel is safe. Murkowski was in Alaska today and did not attend the meeting.   Only yesterday Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, had warned that Murkowki’s decision to run as a write-in candidate “has consequences.” But losing her committee post, apparently, is not one of them.   –Matthew Jaffe
