President Obama Meets with Progressive Bloggers
As the clock ticks down to the midterms and the White House tries to rally the base, President Obama this afternoon is meeting with five popular progressive bloggers.

According to Sudbay — who also writes for AMERICAblog Gay and is thus the first member of the gay media to meet with President Obama since he took office — the meeting is scheduled to last 45 minutes, and will be followed by 15 minutes with White House senior adviser David Axelrod. -Jake Tapper

On a daily basis Obama has been blasting Republicans for obstructing emergency legislation that is required for economic recovery. But now we have proof that Obama is a genius: what better way to prepare for the lame duck session in congress than to meet with bloggers and leave the country on a ‘hard working’ mission to India?
Clearly, by focusing on foreign policy and progressive bloggers Obama is reaching out to conservatives in anticipation of Republican ‘domination’ and ‘obstruction’ in the lame duck session of congress.

I am sure these bloggers will extol the appreciciation senior citizens have for Obama as they pay for increases in Medicare advantage. They are also greatful to Obama for our basic food costs have increasing by an incredible 48% over the last year (measured by wheat, corn, oats, and canola prices). All of America is appreciative to this administration for the increase price at the pump , energy costs are up 23% on average (heating oil, gasoline, natural gas). A little protein at dinner is now 39% higher (beef and pork), and your morning cup of coffee with a little sugar has risen by 36% since last October

We need a Senate that will take a stand against this President. Just consider the President’s appointment of Ms. Warren to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) which represents an end-run around the Senate confirmation process and the Constitution. A position with as much power as the head of the CFPB should be fully accountable to the citizens of the United States, and such accountability would normally begin with a Senate confirmation process as a critical check on the President’s powers.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is one of the most powerful bureaucracies ever created in American history, with the ability to regulate almost every conceivable consumer credit and financial transaction and with a budget nearly free from congressional oversight. This is but another step by the President showing that he does things his way and the Constitution, the Senate and the public be damned.

Democrat pollster Doug Schoen:
“Despite voters feelings toward Obama personally, 56 percent say he does not deserve to be re-elected, while 38 percent say he does deserve to be re-elected president.” Worse, Schoen adds, “43 percent say that Barack Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, while 48 percent say Bush was a better president than Obama has been.”

according to Nate Silver…
“The reason that Democrats are likely to hold the Senate but not the House — the necessary and sufficient reason — is because only one-third of the Senate is up for re-election every year,” Silver wrote. “If the whole Senate were up for re-election, Democrats would lose it and lose it badly.”
Silver says that Republicans might even have achieved a veto-proof majority (67 senators) if all of the Senate was in play.” – John Byrne

Read the poll, it had majorities familiar with the GOP’s pledge to America and the Tea Party’s “Contract for America”
It plays up 3rd parties (gee what a shock given Shoen and Republimussen’s book is supposed to be about the power of the Tea Party)

Interesting.
Unsurprising that right wingers would be duped. Again.
What I found interesting is that he seems to be trying to corral tea partiers within the Republican party. In a three way race between Romney, Palin and Obama, or Romney, Huckabee and Obama, Obama wins. And oddly, the poll doesn’t name names for a two way race and poll that. (They keep it generic, and claim a Republican would win, but other pollsters don’t find the same thing. )
Strange poll. I’d be embarrassed to be touting it.

I’ve never called him that but political scholars have ranked him as one of the five worst. Since you like polls, check out SIENA RESEARCH INSTITUTE, 5th Presidential Expert Poll, July 2010
Bush was ranked 39th. President Obama, 15th.
In regards to Schoen’s poll, it was odd, for the reasons I mentioned and for the reasons Ryan C mentions which you can verify yourself, as a matter of fact.

Shelby Steele:
“Whether or not the Republicans win big next week, it is already clear that the “transformative” aspirations of the Obama presidency—the special promise of this first black president to “change” us into a better society—are much less likely to materialize. There will be enough Republican gains to make the “no” in the “party of no” even more formidable, if not definitive.
“But apart from this politics of numbers, there is also now a deepening disenchantment with Barack Obama himself. (He has a meager 37% approval rating by the latest Harris poll.) His embarrassed supporters console themselves that their intentions were good; their vote helped make history. But for Mr. Obama himself there is no road back to the charisma and political capital he enjoyed on his inauguration day.”

Ryan, don’t play games. What I’m referring to has nothing to do with what you are trying to infer. I specifically said in my post, (which has been removed for some odd reason) this has nothing to do with people who have lost a job, have an illness or are handicapped. I’m talking about people who CHOOSE not to work or do anything else to bring themselves out of ‘poverty’ because they have found it MUCH easier to sponge off the government-which means taxpayer dollars-than to actually find a job (even if it’s at McDonald’s) and do for themselves.
Does the amount of spinning you do ever make you dizzy?
And, by the way, I’m very upset that my post has been taken down. Is it the policy of ABC to pull down posts that make too much sense and/or disrupt the liberal talking points? If that’s the case, then I guess I should be okay with it. My work here is done.

Do you have a source for this? The Consumer Price Index for Food Items shows an increase of less than 2% over the period from January 2009 to last month. I would really appreciate a source. Because I think you’re just lying and spreading propaganda.
Aside from the rise after the crash during the end of the Bush admin, gas prices have been incredibly steady. They are lower now than they were for a year and a half period through most of 2007 and 2008.

Where’s the talk of a 48% rise in costs?
They’re discussing the age old practice of manufacturers offering smaller packages at higher costs.
Here’s a story from 2008
“NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Consumers are starting to notice a few less snaps, crackles and pops in their Cocoa Krispies lately. That’s because cereal boxes – and the amount of cereal inside – are shrinking along with most food packages in the grocery store.
As manufacturers cope with the rising cost of raw ingredients and fuel, downsizing their package sizes is one increasingly popular way to pass along a price increase without drawing too much attention.”

More in 2008
Consumer Reports:”Whether it’s ice cream, juice, or paper towels, many manufacturers are giving you less of what you want, and our new survey shows that you’re taking notice. Downsizing—charging the same price for a lighter package—isn’t new: In 1959 a Consumer Reports reader survey found that deceptive packaging was highest on a list of topics that should be more fully covered. “

It is nice that Obama took the time to meet them. Those bloggers have been working overtime to cover all the shenanigans that some Republicans are up to, as they once again try to pull the wool over folk’s eyes.
We’re all in this together, regular people who see the positive changes enacted by this Administration and Congress, despite the best efforts of the insurance industry, the oil industry, the banking industry, etc. to thwart them. Big corporations can’t understand that when they rip us off, it sends the economy into a tailspin. A balanced economy and reasonable profits is not on their minds!

Who was the last president to refer to a group of Americans as “enemies?”

Fascist Hyena: “Nine in 10 African Americans approve of the job he is doing overall, and as many are satisfied with his presidency. Just 37 percent of white voters approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing.”
And yet the unemployment rate for young African Americans is a record high 50%, and 17% for all ages. African Americans are also joining the ranks of the poor at an astonishing rate. Record level bankruptcies, foreclosures, and homelessness are causing untold suffering for many African Americans. Maybe they’re just giving Obama credit for delivering CHANGE. He certainly did that.

Or it might have to do with the fact that when Democrats sponsor a bill like the CRA designed to end clear discriminatory practices in lending Republicans try to blame the financial crisis on it.

Let me repeat myself. Do you have a source for food prices going up by 49% since Obama took office?
I hope you don’t just go around making those kinds of claims without having the capability of defending your statements.

It’s common practise by the right wing extremists on here – anything to smear the President and the Democrats regardless of it veracity.

I wonder where in the world all this domestic enemy rhetoric started.
I think I remember somebody saying that there were domestic enemies within congress. Who was that again? Oh right, Michele Bachmann. You know who else picked up that rhetoric? Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle.

Or it could have to do with the fact that even though the mayors of all of our largest cities are convinced gun control is desperately needed to stem inner-city homicide Republicans bow without hesitation to the gun lobby and vote to keep the guns coming. You know…stuff like that.

These folks just don’t seem to appreciate how wonderful their government’s ideas are:
“Hundreds of local revolts against wind farms have jeopardised the plan to use them to generate more than a quarter of Britain’s electricity, figures seen by The Independent reveal.
“New wind farms are needed to have any chance of creating enough renewable energy to reduce reliance on coal and gas power production. But planning approvals for them in England are at an all-time low, with only one in three applications getting the go-ahead from councils in the face of angry and organised opposition from people living nearby.”

This style of talk is way too frequent amongst the extremist goons who post on this site. Their lies and smears repeatedly border on hate. They talk about ‘their’ AMerican as if the Republicans own it. The Republicans do not own America, and neither do the right wing goons.

Except I know what your source was.
It was a loony gold selling operation aimed at stoking and preying upon fears of the gullible.

Read Our divisive president, redux
By Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen. These two libs have compiled and put into print what others won’t.
Barak Obama is an embarrassment to this country. The sooner we’re rid of him the better off we’ll be.
And I’m not so sure Senate control isn’t gonna change hands. Whether control does change or not the days of Harry Reid are over. I do find that extremely hillarious. Sort of.
