Manchin just might have renewed my faith in him, by this brave stance on Obamacare. Very rarely in my life have I been able to afford to pay for health insurance. I go to the hospital only when in danger of life or limb. Yes, I think health insurance is a great thing, but now that I am not in the elite group anymore (military), I work very hard to get what money I do earn. I get the rent and utilities paid, plus put some food in the house for my son, but only by the skin of my teeth. It seems that every time I start earning a little more money, not only does the cost of gas to get to work go up, so does the water bill, the electric bill, the sewer bill, the cost of food – the cost of everything. I, for one, and I know many others just like me, can’t afford to pay $180 a month in health insurance premiums (and I earn “too much” money – what a joke – to qualify for health insurance coverage subsidized by the state. What are people like me supposed to do when we are required to pay out money we just can’t afford? If I am forced to pay a health insurance premium, I’m going to have to make a choice, get the electricity cut off, or the water and sewer. Waht kind of choice is that? The way I see it, Mandatory Health Insurance is a way to tax our right to live.

The people I know that are against the health care reform bill change their mind when they learn the facts about it.
Like the 80-20 rule where insurance companies have to spend 80% of the premiums they collect on actual health care benefits for customers… or give a rebate! As a comparison Medicare spends around 95% on patient care. And the insurance companies are greedy enough that they think 80% is too high so they are fighting to repeal the bill.
Educate yourself by reading the bill or reading non-partisan sites about it.
There is so much good in the bill for us consumers, that is why the insurance companies are giving millions to repeal it.
Vote Democrat.

PEOPLE’s PRES Be black and proud of course, but there is nothing to be proud of with this president. He has stoked the flames of racism to divide as many as he can because he knows to divide is to conquer. Surely you don’t agree with using racism to divide folk do you? Opposing Obama’s disastrous policies,( I know some don’t want a job but most do), is not being racist but to suggest those who oppose him do so solely out of racism is racist.

Why are Democrats running? They should standup and ask their Republican challengers, “So, you want to deny health care insurance to children with pre-existing conditions?” “You support bankrupting elderly Americans so health insurance executives can take home millions in bonuses?” As for TARP, they need to stand up and ask their challengers if they wish to see millions more layoffs and soup lines like in the 20′s and early 30′s. They need to ask, “So, you support the elimination of the American auto industry and the unemployment of 20million more Americans?” The Democrats aren’t standing up and taking pride in their accomplishment. We had a budget surplus when the Republicans took over in 2000 but Bush eliminated it and went back to deficit spending.

@Anitlaen2 – Heck Ya! We’re black and we’re proud! But we are also intelligent to recognize that President Obama is far better than anyone on the GOP side of the isle. If America thought Bush was bad, just imagine how worst off our country would be if McCain and Palin were in charge. Those that are against the president are the racist ones. Getter right!
