High Speed Chase In Hawaii Comes Close to Obama’s Beachfront Vacation Home

From Yunji de Nies and Sunlen Miller:

While President Obama enjoyed a round of golf this afternoon in Hawaii, miles away a high-speed chase for a person with outstanding traffic warrants came close to his Kailua beachfront vacation rental home.

Honolulu police were in the process of executing an arrest when the high-speed pursuit began late Thursday afternoon.  The chase came within proximity of "one of the outer perimeter checkpoints" set up by the U.S. Secret Service outside the Obamas' rental home.

U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Edwin Donovan stressed that this incident was unrelated to the president's visit, and the USSS did not get involved or play any role in the pursuit.

The suspect was arrested a short time later, Donovan said, and an investigation by the Honolulu Police Department continues.

The president was miles away from the home on the Klipper Golf Course at Marine Corps Base Hawaii when this occurred.
