To rally support for his controversial tax cut deal, President Obama will this afternoon be interviewed at the White House by reporters from WSYX Columbus, KUSA Denver, KCCI Des Moines and WFLA Tampa/St. Petersburg.

Ohio, Colorado, Iowa and Florida are battleground states with represented by myriad Democrats not exactly chomping at the bit to vote for this compromise tax cut bill, but White House officials say these markets were not chosen because of specific area members of Congress being targeted, but because they are big markets in regionally diverse areas.

The president’s argument, the White House says, will be that the compromise means that taxes will not “go up on millions of American families at the end of the year.  He’ll also highlight how the agreement will ensure millions of Americans don’t lose unemployment insurance, provide investments in our workers that will create jobs, and accelerate economic growth.”
