And the House Budget Committee determined with new entitlement funding and doctor payments left out of the original legislation, the law will add $701 billion to the deficit over 10 years.

So the dem talking point today is that the “insurance companies should not be given back control of health care”. It’s begs the question: who has control now? The government. It’s govt health care and they want it to go all the way so the public option is law. Any other story is a lie.

Are you serious? We understand that his reference regarding what the Nazis did is correct. That’s not the problem. The problem is that he is comparing what the Nazis did to what Republicans are doing now. At a minimum, it’s a poor analogy. He could have simply said “you repeat a lie enough times and people believe it as truth.” Instead, he made a comparison that any educated person knows is inflamatory. That was his intent. Period.

A lie can come in many forms. It can be an out-and-out untruth. It can also be something INTENTIONALLY stated in such a way as to suggest something that isn’t true.
For instance, Cohen KNOWS that the CBO conducts itself within the parameters given to them. So, for instance, if the question put toward the CBO is, “We expect aliens from planet X to give us a cure for cancer next year, how much will national healthcare cost us?”, then the CBO excludes the cost of cancer after the first year.
Cohen is lieing because he is INTENTIONALLY suggesting that becuase the CBO is nonpartisan, their numbers are acurate when in fact the CBO CAN be nonpartisan AND their number CAN be INacurate.

The simple truth is that there is more government entaglement with the health care system after the legislation than before. When you have legislation that controls prices on insurance companies, that require insurance companies to register new policy offerings through the government, that mandate requirements for coverages that drive up costs, and then have the government waiting in the background for when the newly rigged insurance industry fails or stops offering coverage, that is an accurate depiction of what the Health Care legislation does. Oh, did I also mention the addition of millions of people into coverages, but all of the increased coverages and additional people covered and better benefits will cost less money according to the CBO…..yet the left feels attacked when the right calls the legislation for what it is …Government Controlled HEalth Care…..that is how it ends up when you rig the system to fail with the government as the “safety net”.

When the left talks about “civility”, they are telling the right to shut the hell up. When they say Sarah Palin should “take the high road”, they mean for her to shut the hell up.

When the Federal Government tells American citizens they have to get health care, or they face fines and criminal charges, along with increasing taxes to pay for it, I call that a government take over of health care!

To all democrats taking their cue from Krugman, and going on about us republicans not being logical. Tell me this, logically how can the insurers hope to maintain a viable business model if they are forced to accept clients with pre-existing conditions and the like. Well they will have to raise premiums as those individuals were excluded for a reason, they are highly likely to require serious ongoing medical care, and do not fit into the standard pricing model. Now the current argument is that since everyone must buy insurance under threat of fines after the presidential election (nice timing!) the corresponding increase in insurers revenue will offset the loss on those pre-existing individuals. But lets be logical, people have trouble affording it now, we’re not going to do anything to make it cheaper, but somehow since there’s a fine people will buy it? I get fined for speeding but I still do it, and I guarantee you the fine is less than the cost of insurance. So you will see a large majority of those without health insurance will just eat the fine. So in the end what will happen is Insurers A. go out of business, or B. raise rates. Of course they will take B. and after much public outcry we will see legislation to regulate premiums and/or introduce a single payer system for those who still cant afford insurance. Either will result in a single payer system since if premiums are capped the industry collapses as they will not be able to keep pace with the cost increases. THE PROBLEM IS COST!!! REDUCE THE COST AND YOU INCREASE AVAILABILITY!!!OBAMACARE DOES NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE THUS IS DESTINED TO FAIL AND RESULT IN A GOVT’ TAKEOVER.

The CBO only analyzes the data given to them. If they are given bad data they give bad estimates. No surprise there. So the argument needs to be on the data they are analyzing. Not surprisingly the dems double counted and omitted items. Of course their request of the CBO gave them the answer they wanted. Obamacare has never and will never pass the common sense test. How can you insure 30 million people for less money?

The government (‘Federal’, state and local) took over health care a long time ago – with Medicare, Medicaid, the FDA, the AMA (which received a government monopoly on the licensing of doctors and the accreditation of medical schools), regulations and taxes on employers (and health-care tax breaks for them), the Surgeon General, government-owned hospitals, clinics, etc., etc., etc.
This country has had government health care for decades and that is why it is so expensive and getting more so.

Okay,so is he against lying? Really? Thats a good point of agreement. So now lets look at all the things Pelosi & Reid have lied about regarding the ‘health care’ bill…..

If there’s no government takeover, then I don’t have to buy insurance I don’t want? Oh wait… no… I have to pay a fine if I don’t do what the government says. But if there’s no government takeover, I can buy any insurance policy I want with any terms – right? Oh, no again. I can only buy insurance that meets the government requirements for what I’m allowed to buy. And if I’m a doctor, certainly I’m allowed to practice ethically and within the standards of practice that I believe are right! Right? Ooops. Wrong again, the government will review and set standards that more narrowly restrict my options in order to save some bucks and ensure that everyone can have the same “standard of care” that the Government feels is appropriate.

This is a very unfortunate incident in my opinion. I realize that emotions can run very high during these kind of emotional debates and that those emotions can lead to inappropriate comments.
While I think that the issue should be completely focused on health care, people will probably be talking about Rep. Cohen’s inappropriate references to “Nazi” and “Holocaust” more than they will be talking about health care which is a very sad and unfortunate thing in my opinion. I hope that Rep. Cohen will apologize for what he said so that there can be as civil of a debate as possible on the health care issue!

The Health care bill we have now is unsustainable. That is why so many large companies have been given waivers. The general concept of reworking the health care system is desperately needed. However this bill is not going to work. It will never be accepted. Yes I know that many say “well… it passed didn’T IT..?” To that the American People had only one thing to say… the last election. The historic losses that the democrats had at the polls tell the story. Most people would have supported the bill if it had been done in a bipartisan way. However it was not. The leadership forced the bill thru using every trick in the book and even inventing some new ones. That is why most people opposed the Democrats and the bill. Out of control government is not governing it is dictating. The system is setup this way for a reason. Both parties need to follow the rules. Obama needs to continue to fight for a workable health care reform. But, this bill is not going to stand. The Republicans will chip away at it until there is nothing left. The constant hate speech from both sides will not help the government overcome these problems.

I agree with the Republicans that they’re overly optimistic; given the congress’ history of implementing “cost control” measures, then rescinding them at the last minute, calling these estimates (well intentioned as they may be) facts seems particularly ludicrous. He’s right in calling out the Republicans on the “takeover” rhetoric; our health care system was already controlled, directly or indirectly, at every level by the government. The Health Care Reform will definitely not be job killing. There may be fewer low-wage jobs, but more jobs in health care and the insurance industry. If people do care about the truth of this health care issue that should go to Fact Check.org where it criticizes both republicans and Democrats but it is the GOP with the whoopers and they are doing so for the health care industry which they will now stand on their heads to please.

So, not to get off the subject, but let’s talk health care. Neither side disagrees as to there being a problem with the health care system. You can’t add demand for health care services and not expect the price/cost to go up. The only possible way you can make up the difference is to supply less health care to people who are already getting it, and give some of it to those who aren’t currently receiving it.
If I had to guess, I’d say the only way this could realistically be accomplished is to supply less health care to the elderly, and more to the poor. There’s no other way, no matter what the politicians tell us. I believe we should do several things to lessen the costs, and then we could supply more health care for the same money. Let’s get lawyers out of the health care system, they add nothing. They make doctors and hospitals practice defensive medicine, and it drives up everyone’s costs. Let’s institute a system, where injured patients are justly compensated, as with workmen’s compensation, and make sure that doctors who continually injure patients lose the right to practice medicine. They should have to redo their residency, or perhaps work in research.
Next would be to double the size of medical schools and nursing schools, such that we turn out many more doctors and nurses than we are currently producing. We could easily build much larger hospitals, and facilities, without too much cost.
Lastly, we need to look at excessive regulations in the health care industry, and remove barriers that end up costing too much, while providing little in the way of benefits.

One such decision was to pay for no Emergency services if not tribal or PHS, and the piece de resistance was to refuse to pay for any Emergency Services related to alcohol use, when damn near every domestic violence call, accident, knifing, shooting or sleeping and dying on a rail road track was alcohol related. Folks, admit it our Government could screw up a two car funeral. Mothers were forced to wait for hours and hours to see foreign Drs. none licensed in the State or Country, in some cases brutalizing the elderly and pregnant Mothers. One private EMT had to dash into an exam room just in time to catch the baby before it hit the floor, after the Mother had been left unintended.

The corporate media congeal to condemn the metaphor while ignoring the real-world impacts of the propaganda’s impacts on people, i.e., denying them medical treatment.
What is the greater obscenity? The political use of lies to disenfranchise Americans of the right to adequate medical care? Or, the use of a disturbing metaphor to describe the means by which that end is sought? I contend it’s the former.
The corporate media will not allow any discussion of its role in propagating health-care falsehoods and its repetition of the “big lies” as newsworthy, and will punish anyone who dares to expose or challenge it. In the current “style-over-substance” media “mainstream”, ruffling the feathers of cubical dilettantes supersedes practical policy analysis.
Cohen is right. Republican and the Tea Party opponents of health-care reform did use the “big lie” technique most egregiously employed by Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, and the media amplified it.
While many critiques of using Nazi and Fascist analogies as inappropriate to contemporary policy conflicts are correct, in this case, the analogy fits perfectly. Those disturbed by it appear to be those unwilling to recognize and expose the lies and their real-world effects.

The democrats said last year that thousands of people die each year because of lack of healthcare. They argued that if healthcare reform does not pass, thousands more will die. So, why does most provisions of the Patient Protection Act not go into effect until 2014? Does that mean democrats are okay with 3 more years of thousands dying to get healthcare reform? The dirty little secret that supporter don’t want you to know is that taxes related to the reform start this year, but the plan does not really take effect until 2014. So, we have 10 years of taxes and 6 years of the plan to give the CBO the opportunity to say the plan is budget neutral or a cost savings. What happens in the second decade? I’ll tell you want…….HUGE costs, higher taxes, poorer service and loss of jobs.

Actually, the Nazis were (and are) socialists. Socialism is simply a transitional government to communism, which is single party rule, which is fascism. Therefore, a comparison of the current Democrat party to Nazism is relevant and not inflamatory.

I listened to that speech and I was insulted by his comments. I am a American Citizen who is became sick as Cohen made his statements. Just like Rep. Jackson from Texas said that the picture of the woman behind her would be dead if it had not been for Obamacare. This was a lie as this woman was on Medicare and it would have paid for her hospital stay. I have a list of the lies that the Democrats made yesterday. As a citizen It is our responsiblity to call each person on their false statements. Corruption is relevant in the Democrats as we all know. Charlie Rangel is just one example. Why do we have to put up with such false statements from the people who work for us. Would your employer put up with you making false statements in the workplace. Remember the Congress works for us. I would have fired many people yesterday for their performance of lies.

Actually I know of very liberal Jewish groups that complain of the Tea Party being anti Semitic,that word counts of words like Hitler & Nazi make an argument Against Fox news but here 1 day after I heard this this story broke. Why is speaking about the Holocaust such a taboo? He had actually met Gabrielle Giffords in ‘07, and after asking her a question, told Caitie later that Gifford was “stupid and unintelligent.” The question he asked Giffords, Caitie said, “was odd & didn’t make sense, I can’t remember what it was. Just know it was weird.” The last time she had seen him in person was in 2007, in a sign language class.
Contrary to the opinion of several bloggers following the shooting, there is no evidence that Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck had any influence on Loughner. On the contrary, according to Caitie, at the time she knew him, he was left wing, quite liberal, and “oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy.” “He wore shirts & bracelets about it. & liked to discuss 2012 w/ everyone!”
Their group was “liberal in wanting to change the way the world was run, we both wanted to. He took it to an extreme I never would’ve.” She said he was a “political radical” long before the teaparty, Glenn Beck, or Sarah Palin came on the scene.
Caitie also said he was a pot head and was into the music of Hendrix, The Doors, and Anti-Flag. “We listened to political punk in high school & agreed with their leftist opinions for the most part. Anti-Flag was our band.”
She states that he adhered to the “straight edge” beliefs of Anti-flag for the first few years of High School, but “Junior year & on, no.”When she knew him, he had lot of friends, smoked pot, and dated girls, “until he got alcohol poisoning” in 2006 and dropped out of school. After that, he became very reclusive and was mainly a loner.
There is NO evidence that he was influenced by conservatives, but there is good evidence he was influenced by socialists. His my Space page, for example, listed Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto as some of his favorite books.
He spent lots of time on My Space and You Tube using words and phrases that didn’t make much sense to express his angst with the world.

I am very disturbed about the irresponsible and ignorant comments by Steven Cohen. He refers to the Germans as if they had all been Nazis. Mr. Cohen is furthering the atmosphere of divisiveness, promoting his own negative propaganda. Our nation and world has no room for this kind of rhetoric and he should rescind his comments and offer a heartfelt apology to the American people.
