It is obvious that the shooter in the Arizona shooting was in need of mental health services. He was not allowed to return to the community college until he had a psychological eval. Did he have the money to pay for an eval? Did he have health insurance that would have given him the opportunity to seek and receive mental health services? If he had been taking psychotropic meds, did he have the financial resources to continue taking them? These are issues that I hope will be addressed at some point when the politicians return to address health care reform. The politicians seem to agree that this man was mentally "deranged" Now is the time to look at the reality of continual cuts for mental health care. I was a private mental health practitioner for 2 years, but closed the practice because of all the time I had to spend justifying my payment for services rendered with the insurance companies. I spent more time with them than I did working with my clients.
Our health care system is so broken and unfair. If you look at medicare and the VA health care coverage for our troops, you will see that these are "socialized" insurance plans that are totally controlled by the federal and state governments. I have not yet heard a politician label these insurance plans as "socialized". I just want to see our health care system redesigned to allow everyone access to quality health care. We are the only developed country controlled by the pharmaceutical and insurance companies who are in business to make a profit. It is so sad to be classified as a "liability" when an insured needs to file a claim with the insurance company, but it is happening right here in America.

Instead of taking time to vote on a repeal that isn't going to happen, why not take all that energy and focus on getting America back to work??
As for the Giffords shooting. Palin, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh and the rest of the Faux News thugs have blood on their hands. There's no way to spin this one....... but they will. Hate merchants are never at fault.

You guys should stop complaining because, one the health care we have now isnt as good as it was supposed to be. also the law has just been signed so give it some time. so if u want to say u have the right to choose tell that to ur congress men or state official. If you do not have insurance and need one You can find full medical coverage at the lowest price search online for "Wise Health Insurance" If you have health insurance and do not care about cost just be happy about it and trust me you are not going to loose anything!

I just heard that the House will suspend all legislative actions next week because of this shooting. What the heck is up with that? I spent 30 years in the Army and no one gave us a break when one of ours was killed/wounded. DO YOUR JOB AND TAKE CARE BUSINESS. Your job is to look out for the American people, not make an excuse to take another week off.

why? It was a tragic event but why that that delay work or schedules? Can a normal citizen take some "time off" when a normal citizen is a victim of crime? Guess what? It happens DAILY in our inner-cities, border towns, and country. And a single women in Detroit in Chicago doesn't have security details or the President jumping through hoops if she is attacked or killed. Neither is a small town sheriff in a border town confronting international drug dealers and an open border. Or indeed any non-Congressperson. And what of our soldiers? Do we stop work when they are killed (despite being underfunded, sent out without proper armor, or sent on missions without proper rules-of-engagement or support?) No but a judge or Congressperson and the world stops? Tragic but let's pray and hope everyone recovers and no more such incidents but keep working and think, for a bit, about the "little people" also.
