My view: It’s doubtful that Dr King would support the US position in Afghanistan, but that doesnt mean that the US position is wrong.
Dr. King is not the final authority on what is right and wrong.

Dr King was assassinated most likely because of his outspoken philosophy of
nonviolence.Very much against war period
and any expansion of the military period.

Another show of desperation on the part of a government trying to justify its actions…. use the name of (to many) a highly respected dead individual and claim that *s/he* would support the initiation of physical harm being done in the name of the citizens and using their stolen (via taxes) money. It has happened all around the world going back for ages, but in the US it has a special resonance of hypocrisy.

I would consider the Pentagon spokesman to be counting on people not being able to remember much about Martin Luther King and being dumb enough to believe what they’re told. He is incorrect in that misconception.
