Thune’s “Big Opportunity” – Will He Run?
Email ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports: Senator John Thune (R-SD) tells ABC News he sees “a big opportunity on the national field” and will soon make a decision on running for President. “I think these are interesting times and you always want to look at where you can best serve your country best,” Thune told ABC News. “Obviously, there’s a big opportunity on the national field.” Although he says he hasn’t made “final decision” about running for President, Thune’s says a decision is coming soon. “It won’t be long,” Thune told ABC News. “We realize that if you’re going to do this, you have to get moving. The clock is ticking.”
He’s already getting a boost of sorts from the number one republican in the Senate, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. “He’s a very sharp, capable individual. He’s a good speaker [and has] good leadership qualities which I see on display every week in the Senate. I'm a big John Thune fan,” McConnell said at the inaugural Playbook Breakfast this morning. ABC News also learned McConnell may be helping Thune out behind the scenes as well. If Thune runs, he may be the only senator – possibly the only member of congress – in the race. When asked this morning on MSNBC if McConnell would officially endorse Thune, the Minority Leader quipped, “I wouldn’t give him that handicap.”

You know, I have to admire the persitence of people like CND FOX and raven…sticking by their opinions and left wing ideologies even as the current utter failure of the liberal agenda in unfolding… Massive debt, failed economy policy that has done nothing to control unemployment,a health care bill that no one wants and everyone is lining up to get waivers and exemptions FROM… now we have civil unreast in the middle east and, like Carter, this president is out of his league there as well… Carter lost Iran as an Ally, Obama is poised to lose Turkey, Egypt and Israel… Hey barry.. don’t you think you might ought to consider sending some support troops to the Zuez Canal.. how good do you think our economy is going to do on $10 a gallon gas.. cause thats where its heading if control of the Suez gets shifted.. 1.5 trillion in debt, still no budget for this year… and in the state of the union the big answer was ..High speed rail??? are you serious?? how exactly do you Invest AND freeze spending?? What a joke.. and people like CND who THINK they are smarter than everyone ele ..still can’t ee the utter faFAILURE of the progressive philosophy…
