Sarah Palin to Skip May 2nd Presidential Candidate Debate?

UPDATE: Only one day after this report, the orgnaizers of the event say it has been cancelled due to an 'onslaught of negative attacks.' Read more HERE.

ABC News' John Berman reports:  Sarah Palin will apparently not appear at one of the first Republican Presidential debates, skipping-out on Politico, in favor of veterans.

On May 2nd, the former Alaska Governor will be the keynote speaker at a fundraising event for soldiers and veterans in Denver.  In a press release, the SKP foundation announced that Palin will address their annual, “Patriots & Warriors Gala and Fundraiser on Monday, May 2, 2011.”

The gala is designed to “honor service members and those who have given of themselves in service and/or sacrifice to our country,” and will also raise money for “at risk youth.”

The date of the event is interesting, because it is the same night as a Republican presidential debate hosted by Politico and NBC News at the Reagan Library.  Palin, who has said she currently considering whether to run, will obviously not be there.
