The Arab League, consisting of 22 member states, voted on March 14 to request the establishment of no fly zones by NATO to protect the civilian populace from what they now consider to be an illegitimate regime in Gadhafi and his mercenary thugs.
My proposal is for the US and NATO to provide strategic and tactical logistics support only, to those Arab League nations with sufficient air force capabilities to establish the NFZ's themselves. Certainly the member states of the Arab League have the combined assets to accomplish the mission, but-------------- do they have the guts and political will to carry it out.
The only forces the US and NATO would have to commit would be AWACS, cargo and refueling tankers which would be flying, for the most part, off the Libyan coast in international air space or within the air space of Arab League member states at their invitation!
And let the Arab League along with the rebels deal with the ground game----They're the ones who, apart from the Libyan provisional government in Benghazi, requested the NFZ's.
Morally and politically it's the right thing to do. At least that's my opinion.

I am curious to see how the present dispensation will handle things when the Americans revolt against their mishandling of so many things, when North Ireland will secede from Great Britain, when the French revolt vs.Sarkozy's profligate lifestyle, or when the British are fed up maintaining the monarchy. Vamos a ver.

Old Europe has succeeded in demonizing Khaddafi with the help of the biased media who fanned the so-called revolution. Again, like President Bush before him, President Obama has danced to the music of warmongers. This will be his Waterloo and the election next year will bode will for the Republicans. And after when they put those traitors to power we will have another dictatorship of the ayatollahs. Well, good for the gays among us. A caliphate in the final run might be better than Fortress America, the Sodom of Gomorrah of this generation. Maybe parousia is really just around the corner.

We have no money, no troops available and no business going into Libya, whether via the U.S. or U.N. order. Top military experts have vetoed the proposal, and again WE HAVE NO MONEY FOR MORE WAR

In neither of those instances was time of the essence
======================
Then why did we go charging in there without a UN resolution or a broad based coalition?

Comparisons between this tragedy and the initiation of action in Afghanistan and Iraq are mindless. In neither of those instances was time of the essence; in Libya it is (actually, was) an urgent matter of sucess or failure, of life or death. These fools prattled on while a criminal with American blood on his hands slaughtered people with aspirations for freedom.

This is an abject failure of American leadership:
"The uprisings against autocracies in 10 separate Middle Eastern countries, a crisis inherited from no one, was their real-world test. In Egypt, they fumbled. In Libya, they have failed.
"The poster boy for this internationalist view is White House deputy Ben Rhodes, who told a reporter last week: 'This is the Obama conception of the U.S. role in the world—to work through multilateral organizations and bilateral relationships to make sure that the steps we are taking are amplified.'
"Days later, bemused Libyan rebel spokesman Essam Gheriani remarked in Benghazi: 'Everyone here is puzzled as to how many casualties the international community judges to be enough for them to help. Maybe we should start committing suicide to reach the required number.'"

With Afghanistan, it took from September 11 2001 till OCTOBER 7th before we went in. Why? Because we had to get the backing of the Arab countries and our allies around the world first. And that was after we suffered the devastation of 9/11 before we had it in place.
With Iraq in 2002 it was off and on UN investigations of possible WMDs from August 2 through October 2 then again in December 3 of UN's weapons inspectors unannounced visit to Iraq. Then build up of US forces readiness going into Iraq in March 2003.
Now no matter which side of the war issue you are on, it took time to get every one involved.
What makes this time harder? It wasn't an attack on our soil. There is no threat of weapons of mass destruction aimed at other countries.
So Obama keeping a cool head and getting the Arab countries involved with us and getting our allies involved with us is just what George W Bush and Cheney did before us going to Afghanistan in retaliation for 9/11 and it is just what George W Bush and Cheney did before going to Iraq.

Hillary is fed up with this hapless bozo:
"President Obama’s inaction on Libya isn’t baffling just the international community — it’s also causing major conflicts within his own administration, according to the Daily.
"Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was unhappy with how Obama handled the uprising in Egypt, but it is his waffling on Libya that has sent her over the edge, the Daily reports:
"Fed up with a president 'who can’t make his mind up' as Libyan rebels are on the brink of defeat, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is looking to the exits.
"At the tail end of her mission to bolster the Libyan opposition, which has suffered days of losses to Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s forces, Clinton announced that she’s done with Obama after 2012 — even if he wins again."
