I remember growing up Catholic and wondering why I had to wear a hat in church, while men didn't. And the hat could be something as small as a doily and count! In a pinch, a female could put a tissue on her head. Now you have to admit that now-defunct rule was pretty funny and strange! Another funny one I encountered in religious school, was enforced confessions of children. We had to go confess something once a week. I was a very obedient kid, so many times I had nothing to 'repent'. I actually started lying one week that I had stolen an apple, which enabled me to confess the sin of lying the next.
