ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:

President Obama will spend the day in meetings and events at the White House.

In the morning, the President will have a series of local TV interviews, with KOAT Albuquerque, KDKA Pittsburgh and WVEC Hampton Roads from the Map Room "on the importance of education reform and the need to fix No Child Left Behind."

On Monday Mr. Obama called on Monday for Congress to send him a bill with "fixes" before the start of the next school year to reform the law.

In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet for a private lunch in the Private Dining Room.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with student finalists of the Intel Science Talent Search 2011 competition in the East Room. 

He will then meet with Secretary of Defense Gates in the Oval Office privately in the Oval Office.

In the evening, the President and the Vice President will meet with the Combatant Commanders and then will host a dinner for the Combatant Commanders and spouses in the Blue Room.
