Why would anybody be surprised that big oil companies are reporting record profits? We knew when speculators started manipulating the price of oil that we had a surplus, but the price keeps going up, up, up. This is what happens when people like darth Cheney let his buddies deregulate things like oil prices.

Oil=2 cents profit on a gallon of gas. I dare you to compare that to others profit margin. Like say WalMart, G.E., etc. etc. In an attmept to support all the crying, lets get after that greedy McDonald and G.E.. Their Margin was better than the Oil industry.

And Exon paied 50 billion in taxes. How much did G.E. pay in taxes? Oh yea, they got tax dollars paied to them.
Lets end all subsidies. Why should GE get billions in subsidies and not pee a drop in the green energy field. Libs, I assume you are all O.K. with loosing your green susidies that have produced nothing in the last 30 years? HOw about farm subsidies? You libs run that past the farmers/food creators.

David…and you know what creates that “no property tax environment”? State and local governments who play ‘cutthroat with each other andf then defend the “practice” as free enterprise. AND ONCE AGAIN the middle class tax payer LOSES BIG TIME. Only one reason why I am not for “States” rights. Because once again…it only really benefits the HAVES” AND THE very RICH.

Lets see; GE paid no taxes on their profits and took a bailout to boot,Google hid their profits overseas and paid a paltry 3%. Google and facebook come to communities, sink a half billion into a storage facilites,after the state subsidizes or gives them the land to build on, hire very few workers, mostly security guards and pay the localities no property taxes-which support the local schools.
I for one don’t think anyone needs a subsidy, not the oil and gas people, not the banks, not the farmers and not the ethanol people nor people having children or buying homes. Everyone needs to pay and if you can’t there is a broom and mop for you at city hall, the welfare office, the local school and oh yes the trash needs picked up along side the road.
One thing the President never mentions is how to bring those nearly 50% of us who pay no taxes into tax paying roles.
Of course you do that with good paying jobs but all he seems to know is how to take it from someone else.
We look more like a 3rd world country everyday.
