usa doesnt get it at all. The govt does what they want and it wasnt a cover up at all. it happened the way they wanted it to happen… so many levels to pass the blame. the govt owes nothing to anyone…. we all know the risk for what we get into, what we say etc… the govt deals accordingly with each. lots of great points made… just sit back and enjoy the show… oh yeah why is the prest selected and not elected…? lol

President Obama owes the Tillman family a response, and he owes military families more respect and care. He knew he would be cleaning up the Bush administration’s messes when he took the job. This is one of those messes–a horrible one that must not be compounded by turning a blind eye to McChrystal’s misdeeds.

Those of us who have served and have lost comrades in senseless accidents can certainly feel Mrs. Tillman’s pain and frustration. However, there is no evidence that Gen. McChristal was in any way responsible for Corp. Tillman’s death. Calling in all the media to lobby against his appointment to a post for which he is clearly qualified indicates both a lack of good judgement and a descent into petty vindictiveness. Why are any of the media reporting what she thinks about this? It is pure sensationalism which takes advantage of mother’s grief and reflects the media’s unprincipled thirst for conflict.

Appointing McChrystal to this post is as bad an idea as Bush nominating Harriet Miers to be on the Supreme Court. Who put his name forward to the White House? What staff member recommended this? Military voters won’t think this is a positive step.At West Point, McChrystal had to obey the Honor Code: “A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do”. Cadets lie “if they deliberately deceive another by stating an untruth or by any direct form of communication to include the telling of a partial truth and the vague or ambiguous use of information or language with the intent to deceive or mislead.” I wonder how McChrystal’s classmates regard him now.

When I was in the Army, we had a MSG who was always making sexual comments to all the female Soldiers in our company. It was so annoying to be around him, especially because he not only outranked me, he was often in charge. After 2 years of serving with him I noticed he had changed drastically. He had ceased to make any more sexual inuendos, remarks, etc. I was so relieved and had wondered what had gotten into him. About a year later I talked to my old company commander, who was now my boss in another department. She said when she was company commander, she had made that MSG become the EO NCOIC for our company. I thought, “How brilliant!” The best way to make him learn what he was doing, was by making him not only get EO training, but also to be in charge of taking all the EO complaints, have to initiate investigations, and then act on what he found. I’m sure he saw many mirror reflections of his past self in this new position. Maybe this is what President Obama is really doing with McChrystal. Pure genius!
