This country’s business setup has allowed the top 1% to take in 24% of ALL of America’s income, up from 9% pre-Reagan and even more than during the “Robber Baron” period a century ago.
They pay a lower average tax rate by 5% compared to the middle class because their main sources of income are municipal bonds (0% tax), stock dividends (15%) and capital gains (15%).
In the 90′s, I had a teacher’s salary and it didn’t hurt me to pay regular tax rates on dividends and short-term capital gains and 20% on long-term gains.
Those making such obscene incomes now should have no trouble paying much more in return for the crooked politicians allowing such a redistribution of income to occur.
Paul Ryan is purely the Robin Hood of the Rich who’d rather see the poor and Seniors die while reducing billionaires taxes. In a just world he’d be stripped of citizenship and exiled to Zimbabwe or some other banana republic where his philosophy holds.

GOP Ryan says taxes on millionaires is a “non-starter”……Democrats will tell Ryan only cutting programs and entitlements for the poor and middle class is a “non-starter”….The time of GOP intimidation, program hostage taking and the “my way or the highway” Republican tactic is OVER.

..just listened to Obama’s Deficit Reduction how-to-do-it speech. As usual, full of flag waving, a letter from a voter, and making Biden the go to guy for the administration’s effort. It was a political speech, as usual, as that type of speech is Obama at his best. This way, he can let both Houses of Congress, as he often says, “get a bill on my desk by….” and then play “What, Me Worry?” if things go astrat. The man is hardly a leader in the true sense of the word…..plays the game, does well on his increasingly repetitious speeches…whatever the subject….but refuses to dirty his hands with any of the grunt work we need done in Washington. To be specific, I am sick of his pointing to building schools…..for whom? …who is paying for them?…certainly not Arne and his cast of thousands in our growwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwing Department of Education……some time I would like the POTUS put numbers to his great accomplishments in Education. WE pay for the schools, not the feds. Need something to reduce our deficit?…easy…dump the Department of Education in Washington. We didn’t need them then, and we sure and hell could save a lot of dough if they went out and got honest jobs. We educate our kids, not Washington….another talk, full of platitudes, but NOTHING SPECIFIC AGAIN.

Failure to address the debt is not an inadequacy peculiar to Democrats, but the inadequacy itself is debatable when unemployment is still high.
