From Sunlen Miller:
President Obama thinks he might have “some connection” with Donald Trump, or so he said to a group of students today in London.
Along with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Mr. Obama today visited Globe Academy, a math and performing arts school with a high proportion of low-income students, in London today.
A group of students – aged 11, 12, and 13 years old – showed off the winning design of their school’s design contest. The student’s design, the “Dish Dash” is a multicolored cardboard box that folds out into a bowl or plate and then back again.
The teacher of the students said they are hoping for an investor for the children’s project. President Obama had a suggestion.
“Donald Trump in the United States?” Obama quipped, offering up the businessman and former potential Republican opponent in 2012 as a possibility, “I have some — ah — connection with him.”
There was some laughter in the room, but it was not clear if the students knew exactly what the president was joking about.
The president continued on with the visit, speaking to a group of younger children who were learning about the solar system. The president asked the students their stance on Pluto: planet or not.
“What do you think about the controversy about Pluto, because when I was young I always learned that Pluto was a planet,” the president exclaimed, “And then somebody just decided it wasn’t a planet.”
“It’s too small to be a planet,” a student informed him.
