I’m not buying into seeing a picture of this man dead will PROVE anything given the ability to construe photographs. What I DO know is that this it fits the administration’s common theme of “This is what we’re doing folks…I know most don’t agree but you guys just don’t understand. You don’t have the mental capacity to process things like we do. Why can’t everyone act like a good bunch of liberals and let the government think for you too!”

Wow, your Danish is impressive (unless of course you actually are Danish).
There is a reason why I talk about proof in broad terms and not specifically refer to the pictures. I cannot know what is in those pictures, and it may be that they really are too graphic to show.
I, like most other people, just need proof. Showing some pictures would be the natural way of providing proof, but there could be other ways.
One alternative option is to let a selection of independent journalists/NGO’s have a look at the pictures on behalf of the public + let some independent experts verify the DNA evidence. It is not the ideal solution, but it could be done.
I am just not prepared to trust any government on their words on something this important. Especially not the American government, so few years after the lies about Iraq that lured my embarrassingly gullible government into war.

We appreciate Denmark’s sacrifices. But there was more to consider than “proof” for those who do not believe bin Laden is “actually dead”.
Clearly, the downside of showing bin Laden’s bloody corpse was weighed in the balance. The US Secretaries of Defense and Secretary of State advised against it and our President decided.

I cannot believe that this is really happening. The supervillain of modern day history has supposedly been killed, and not one single piece of evidence can be released to back it up?
Naturally, the American public has a right to know with certainty that this really happened as they say it happened.
But the rest of the world needs some solid evidence too.
I live in Denmark. Our soldiers have fought side by side with the Americans in Afghanistan, and we are the country in the ISAF coalition that has suffered the most casualties compared to our country’s population. We have a right to know for certain that the guy, who’s murderous deeds prompted that war and influenced our daily lifes so profoundly, is actually dead.

LOL…He would have all ready “displayed” the photos with the banner of “mission accomplished” in the background. Also, there has to be other photos. It’s not like we would take just one and figure that’s good enough. You would think an event like this would documented to the hilt.
And of all that information there isn’t a single photo that can be released? I find this really hard to believe.
Now I believe Osama is dead, but I don’t trust Obama to not use this photo in the future (in a “leaked” sort of way) to enhance his re-election efforts.

MayBee – Not all of those were release by are government and some were released after their supporters had no real power. Because we did it in the past does not mean we should do it again. Use some common sense instead of demanding the right to military information. As far as I am concerned, they have released too much information and put his picture in the news too often. It is time to move on to real problems we are facing and not whether a picture of a dead man should be released.

In other words, it should always be part of the American character to assume the MOST information possible and available is due us.
The government should conceal only what it must.
We should always push for more, and be skeptical of those wishing to withhold information, not skeptical of those expecting access to it.
