Israeli Prime Minister Gets 29 Standing Ovations in Congress, Sends Message to White House*
ABC's Jonathan Karl (@jonkarl) reports:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before a joint meeting of Congress had all trappings of a State of the Union address by a president with sky-high approval ratings.
Speaking to a packed House chamber with Speaker Boehner and Vice President Biden over his shoulders, Netanyahu was repeatedly interrupted by applause – including more than 20 standing ovations.
One of his biggest applause lines was aimed directly at President Obama.
“Israel will not return to the indefensible boundaries of 1967,” Netanyahu said, prompting a big standing ovation.
Later he added: “Israel on the 1967 lines would be only 9 miles wide. So much for defensible borders.”
As Netanyahu himself pointed out, the President has not called on Israel to return to the exact 1967 borders. The President has said that a peace agreement should be “based on 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps."
Read more on what Netanyahu said in the speech and how it relates to recent U.S. foreign policy.
Nevertheless, Netanyahu's speech – and the thunderous bi-partisan response – was a clear challenge to the idea of using the 1967 boundaries – with or without “swaps” — as a basis for a peace deal.
Netanyahu also got big ovations with hard-line statements on two other perennial sticking points to Israeli-Palestinian peace agreements: No right of return for Palestinian refugees, insisted, and “Jerusalem will never again be divided. Israel must remain the united Capital of Israel.”
Netanyahu arguably got an warmer reception than President Obama received during his last state of the union and certainly a warmer reception than he’d receive at the Knesset. When the speech was over, he lingered for a while at the podium as it seemed he didn’t want to leave.
*UPDATE: President Obama got 25 standing ovations from Congress during his 2011 State of the Union address. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got 29 today.

The master plan for the Islamic terror organization al Qaeda that calls for worldwide Islamic domination is right on schedule but it will not come about according to Bible prophecy.
According to published reports, the master plan for the world domination by al Qaeda is right on schedule. We’re now watching phase 4 of the seven stage plan taking place with the street demonstrators in the Arab capitals in the Middle East leading the way for the downfall of hated Arab leaders, basically the moderate Arab leaders that are willing to coexist with a Jewish state in the Middle East. The phase 4 plan also calls for an attack on oil supplies and the United States economy. Already it is evidenced that the plan has been effective in Tunisia and Egypt with Saudi Arabia and Jordan to be the next targets. Ironically the West is downplaying these threats to take over the world by the Islamists.
A student of Bible prophecy, however, would recognize what is happening as the prewritten history recorded over 2500 years ago by the ancient Jewish prophets. Joel wrote that the largest military might ever formed on the earth will take place in the last days. It will be a massive Moslem militia according to Joel 2:1-4. Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Jeremiah all add additional information to the end times scenario that we can see unfolding right now. Ezekiel, however, reveals that the Moslem militia will not form this desired caliphate, a global dominion. Jesus will intercede from heaven and destroy the al Qaeda forces (Ezekiel 38:18-39:6). Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

It’s a shame that peace between the Arabs and Israel is seen by many as a battle between the right wing and the left wing in America. It’s not. When Israel has a real partner for peace on the other side that recognizes Israel and is truly committed to building a peaceful Palestinian state then true peace will be on the path to becoming reality. If there should be any pre-condition for peace talks, it should be the Palestinians recognizing the existence of Israel, and laying down their arms. To me, it’s amazing that Israel talks at all with folks who seek its annihilation and bombard it with rockets and other terrorist attacks.
Whether you are conservative or liberal, one would think that would be a non-starter for real peace talks, don’t you think?

“It is exactly what politics looks like when it is dominated by ‘right wing thinkers and demogogues’.” It was a bipartisan joint session of Congress that Mr. Netanyahu addressed, which the last time I checked is not an assembly “dominated by right wing thinkers and demogogues”.

Maybe Congress will call for a Constitutional Amendment – wait, they’ll just create some new found power, and appoint Netanyahu as permanent President.

I thing it interesting when people mention “the indefensible boundaries of 1967.” Anyone that knows history knows the Israels did very well defending those boundaries. It was the Arabs that had trouble defending those boundaries. Every time Arabs attacked the Israels, the size of Israel expanded.

Though we know Andrea Mitchell doesn’t like the straight talk, the rest of us do. It’s not about Obama or dressing Obama down or treating him like a child, as Ms. Mitchell asserted on Sunday morning. Mr. Netanyahu is speaking to the American people and telling us what’s real and what is propaganda. Mitchell’s upset because she’s all into the latter.

Their own President Bush said the same thing…no negative comments or rebukes..because it was Bush but let Obama take a stand on anything and off they go to the other side. Just like they did on infrastructure which they were hollering about and demanding something be done about it. Obama says let’s do infrastructure and they are automatically and critically against it. Does not matter what it is he is for they are against and they try to make it seem like it is a ligitimate reason but most people know better. They are fooling no one.

Andrea Mitchell only likes straight talk when she is doing it …but not when someone else is. Bibi would not like it if someone spoke to him in the negative so what makes him think we want to hear what he thinks…or care. This matter of the border has been going for so long I don’t give a rat’s nest about it because it was not worth the fighting and the deaths and somewhere along the line a settlement should have been made. To me, this land is not worth one life and yet it cost many. They should be ashamed of themselves Palistinians and Israel for what has been going on for so many years. Obama just gave a suggestion to start talks..Bibi not like it …Clinton said the same. Bush said the same and Obama did also but he gave them options and they still do not like it…so don’t come to us for aide if you won’t take a suggestion from us. You want our financial aide but not our help in any other way…too bad…I say cut off your aid and see where you are. Too many countries get cocky when they get our support and start demanding more…it is time to put a stop to it even it is Israel.

when the israels case is explained to the american people in the historical honest fashion as bibi has done the american people overwhelmingly support israel and not ARAB SPRING. israel didnt attack any one in 1967 they were attacked and won the war. they have a right to what they won. dictating anything different would say we need to give or country back to the native americans and the mexicans. how lame would that be.
nothing will appease non israeli middle easterners other than the extermination of israel.the palestinans can be absorbed by the rest.sounds like someone either gravely misspoke or they are out of touch with the majority of americans. i believe its the later.

“A student of Bible prophecy, however, would recognize what is happening as the prewritten history recorded over 2500 years ago by the ancient Jewish prophets.”
Not true. A student of Bible prophecy would recognize that the prewritten history was recorded around 700-600 BC during the reigns of Hezekiah through Josiah. Even the Bible gives away the fact they were NOT recorded earlier by frequent references of “to this day,” as in: “So that day Ackish gave him [David] Ziklag; therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.” (1 Samuel 27:6).
Furthermore, archeological certainty has even the celebrated archeology director of Tel Aviv University, Israel Finkelstein, convinced that the so-called prophecies were old stories, maybe based on true minor incidents, that were dressed up to provide propaganda to help Hezekiah (absorb and control Israelites fleeing the Assyrians) through Josiah (in reclaiming the Shephelah [area between the Philistine Plain and Judahite highlands]).

So when is the media going to point out the obvious fact that Bibi had a joint statement back in 2010 with Hillary Clinton agreeing on the same things Obama said in his speech the other day regarding this issue? And that this White House stance is no different then previous administrations its just that the Obama administration seemed to have the guts to say it out loud?
What does it say about our nations congress paying more respect to a foriegn leader then they do our nations President? What does it say about members of Congress attempting to join forces with that foriegn leader to undermind the President and in turn our country? This smells of treason. Im not to sure how Americans at large will feel about our nations Congress siding with a foreign leader or nation more then they do their own at this point. Both the media and this Congress (especially Republicans) better be careful with this.

It amazes me that people comment on the Israeli Prime Minister’s addressing Congress and that he wasn’t bowing before Obama. YET, it was just fine and dandy when the President of Mexico stood in front of Congress and chastised the American people and blamed us for Mexico’s ills. Get a grip! We give that country MILLIONS also, and they get millions more from the illegals here that send money back to Mexico. Israel was a subject that the President felt we should all agree with him about, and Israel’s leader took time to teach us a little about his nation so we could make up our own minds. Get over it. No one is twisting anything, because we have all had an opportunity to hear our leader and Israel’s leader make their points. Thinking people can make up their minds without any commentary necessary.

The most basic and simple fact to remember about this Israel/Palestinian mess is this: If there were not one more rocket/mortar/suicide attack against Israeli men, women and children, there would be everlasting peace. It is clear that the useful idiots Palestinians don’t want peace. And so long as they raise their babies in military uniforms with toy guns, swearing to kill all Israelis and obliterate the country of Israel, there will be no peace.

Funny how right wingers claim the 1967 war was started by the Arabs when in fact, literally, Israel attacked first. Furthermore, it wasn’t self defense – there are litters of quotes from Israeli leaders at the time that they knew Egypt wasn’t a threat and wasn’t about to attack. Statements like the above from Netenyahoo just make the lie all the more ridiculous – the 1967 war was a land grab to give Israel leverage and a buffer zone.

@Talmag: “so don’t come to us for aide if you won’t take a suggestion from us. You want our financial aide but not our help in any other way…too bad…I say cut off your aid and see where you are.”
Two thoughts on this missive:
1) Obama was not making any “suggestion”; he was engaging in clueless platitudes based upon a staggering ignorance of the world’s difficulties; and
2) This notion of having to do what we say because they take our aid is not one shared by many welfare recipients, me thinks.
Posted by: Bibi2012 | May 24, 2011, 4:54 pm 4:54 pm
Again … the original “agreement” was 55% israel // 45% palestinian state… 1967 lines give israel much more land than that (and now they have about 78%….)
Why is one people better then another? One uses the WWII events to get land and pity while they use the same nazi tactics against the palestinians. Why is it atrocious to kill one people but okay to exterminate the Palestinians??
Israel will not be happy until they have 100% of the land and then they will go into Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt… Isreal doesn’t care about peace….only having PIECE of PROPERTY!
You wouldn’t need to “defend” yourself if you would stop building ILLEGAL settlements on AGREED PALESTINIAN LAND.
An Isreali neighbor once told me (as we were talking about the “situation”)… if your neighbor fights you, you take his front room, if he continues to fight you, you take his kitchen, if he continues, you take his bedroom and then if he still fights you… you take his whole house. ALL I COULD THINK WAS: IF your neighbor continues to fight you – EITHER TURN YOUR BACK OR MOVE. WHAT GIVES ANYONE THE RIGHT TO TAKE ANOTHERS PROPERTY!!!!

And to CKAGMD, it’s not so much what Israel has done for the US as what the USA failed to do for the Jews in the early 40′s. It is because of our failure to intervene early enough to save them from Hitler’s gas chambers and ovens that we have pledged an unwavering support to them now.

We have just seen the most open takeover of the US government by a foreign entity. Congress is too worried about AIPAC money and votes. They want to leave the US by itself on the UN vote in September. Are our allies in Europe who stood with us during WWII wrong when they backed the President’s speech? Are the majority of the UN countries wrong when they back a Palestinian State? Many who are our allies and have a large Christian population? I am ashamed of Congress today and they better wake up or we may end up in another war because Netanyahu’s plan is to stall, stall, stall….until he builds, builds, builds, settlements. Hey if you can’t beat them, ignore them and push, push, push, sooner or later they will leave. Come September we will see if the US is alone with Israel or if Europe will stand with us. It’s getting harder to justify asking friends to support an indefensible position. Hey, didn’t Netanyahu say that about his borders? Russia today said they will support the push for Palestinian statehood. So we are pitted against our old adversaries but I think this time we may be on the wrong side with not much support

Today’s spectacle, as AIPAC supporters in Congress applauded a confrontational speech by Israel’s Netanyahu which criticized the President, and refused to acquiesce to Barack Obama’s proposals for peace in the Middle East, was extremely disturbing.
It is crystal clear that this extreme, right-wing prime minister of the Likud coalition, is determined that there should be NO PALESTINIAN STATE IN THE WEST BANK OR JERUSALEM at any time whilst he is in power.
That being the position, surely it must now be the time for US military and civil aid to Israel to be discontinued – otherwise, America will be seen to be giving essential support to a belligerent state intent on expansion and illegal settlement, to the clear detriment of the Middle East and of world peace.
If no action is taken to end the status quo, then the world can look forward to war. When that happens, there is no one who can foresee the consequences. The Israeli government has control over a secret nuclear arsenal estimated to now be the 4th most powerful in the world, yet the US continues to send them more arms and $3billion in aid. This appears to be the politics of the madhouse.

Biden Does Not Applaud After Netanyahu Says Jerusalem Will Not Be Divided

“Jerusalem must never again be divided,” Bibi Netanyahu said. Notably visible, Vice President Joe Biden did not applaud after Netanyahu called for an undivided Jerusalem.
“Jerusalem must remain the united capital of Israel,” Netanyahu declared.

Here’s your lesson in foreign policy, “we use Israel as OUR Western foothold in the ME.” Trust me when I tell you (and I lived over in the ME for 4 years), they don’t like that simple lesson I just gave you. It gives the US an opening if the ME gets out of hand. If you think we simply give billions supporting Israel for Israel, you are sadly mistaken.

Congress’ reaction to Bibi’s speech reminds us yet again that it is Obama who is on the extreme leftist fringe of opinion. The O would have Israel negotiate with newly reunited Hamas and Fatah (formerly PLO)–who jointly condemned the US for killing bin Laden. Yes, that’s “Partners in Peace” territory right there! Hamas, Fatah, Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran will only be happy with Israel restored to pre-1947 borders–that is to say….NO Israel. And our own President Hussein is enabling them.

So we can expect President Obama to deliver a historic speech at the Western Wall and defiantly proclaim “Mister Netanyahu, build up this wall!”

Benjamin Netanyahu lies and lies until he believes it and thinks that people would believe him. I wonder who doesn’t know that Israel is an occupying force in the Middle East which has nothing to do with it. The Israelis came to Palestine from all over the world and occupied it by force and claimed the country for themselves. They committed horrific crimes against the Palestinians to make them run away from their home land and that is why there are millions of Palestinian refugees all around the world. These refugees need and must go back to their homeland Palestine, which is now called Israel. The story is as simple as that.

People are furious, but not enough until they realize that useless wars and aid to Israel is wasteful spending. Our congress is bought and paid for by AIPAC. We need to DEMAND that this stops, that education and health care are our first priorities, not wars that are endless that only make a few people more rich!!!

“Oh, but the poor “palistinians” (no such thing)are so mistreated…” I hate to tell you but Israel is NOT the oppressor you make them out to be. This is not about “The Peace Process”. This is about who will win this struggle.
There has to be a “two state solution” but Hamas, Fatah, Hezbolla and the Muslim Brotherhood for that matter, have to recognize Israel’s right to exit and abandon the Right to Return. The Righ to Return will nullify Isreal’s status as a separte state. Under Right to Return Palestinians could return to Israel territory and they would simply overwhelm the Israelis. This is a non-start in any true negotiations as it is incompatible with the recognition of Israel’s right to exit.
Netanyahu’ best line, IMHO, out of many great lines was the one about the only Muslims in the Arab world with any true freedom are the ones who live within the state of Israel. Think about that one all you who bash Israel and accuse her of perpetuating “war crimes”.

Joe…we are in agreement as to the ultimate future of Israel as well as the rest of the world. However, that does not mean that in a secular sense we should reduce commitment and we especially should never side with the terrorists. Obama (our still in training would-be president) misses the combined point of history and destiny in hurrying things along. The 16 hours he spent evaluating the Bin Laden data was likely at a table surrounded by his political hacks. It’s a cinch he didn’t spend 16 minutes thinking about dropping the defense of Israel with a proposal that Israel give up its security for peace. If liberty had taught America nothing else it is that liberty sacrificed for peace results in neither. Otherwise, excellent post!
Posted by: wantingbalance | May 24, 2011, 8:42 pm 8:42 pm
Mypoortaxdollar…can you site the location of your data? Benefits to Israel during its war with Britain primarily came in the form of WWII planes, equipment and munitions. This approach was continued through 1952 and while likely moved to an individual line item, the majority of material was already funded. But let’s assume that your net aid number of $89billion is correct. How do you arrive at nearly 50% interest ($49,936,680,000) during this time? And by the way, the vast majority of funding went to the government for use in establishing and building a national defense that continues to serve our purpose in the Middle East (Obama statements notwithstanding). So averaging it on a per-person basis is not realistic since as much as 35% of its citizens live outside the country. So, if you were to take our defense spending for the U.S. alone since 1948 and average that per current American population, I suspect you would have a much higher number.

We need to stop listening to the Liberal Media as they lie and do everything to cover for the Anointed One. This is what a statesman and a Leader looks like and sounds like. Look at what we have as Obama further destroys America and American power.
arack Obama brought to the presidency the foreign policy experience of a community organizer, that is to say, none. And it shows. If there is such a thing as an Obama Doctrine, it might be this: React slowly to a foreign crisis and, in a conflict, pick a side hostile to U.S. interests. Here are the Top 10 Obama Foreign Policy Flubs.
1. Libya: NATO’s Obama-backed Libyan excursion is entering its third month with no end in sight, as Muammar Gaddafi and the ill-trained and ill-equipped rebel forces battle to a stalemate. Without the U.S. taking the dominant military lead, NATO’s feeble effort is exposing a shocking weakness in the military alliance. And Obama still hasn’t explained why Gaddafi’s troops shooting into crowds warrants retribution, while Syrian President Bashar al-Assad can do the same with impunity. What an ill-conceived effort, with no real leadership and no clear goals.
2. Iran: In 2009, when Tehran protesters looked to Washington for help, Obama offered little support as he held on to the dream that his magical words could sway Iran’s Islamist leaders. His naive stance snubbed the masses of people hoping for democratic reform while ensuring that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will continue his march to make Iran a nuclear power.
3. Egypt: First, Vice President Joe Biden says longtime U.S. ally Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is not a dictator, then the administration calls for him to step aside. By withdrawing support for Mubarak, Obama sent shock waves to other U.S. allies in the Middle East—including oil-rich Saudi Arabia and Bahrain—and gave an opening for the Muslim Brotherhood to rise to power.
4. The Dollar: Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s policy of qualitative easing is eroding the dollar while encouraging inflation. International holders of U.S. dollars are not pleased to see the drop, spurring talk of a different currency to dominate the world’s financial system. Along with the Obama deficits, America’s creditworthiness is in question.
5. Israel: Obama’s speech seeking a return to Israel’s 1967 borders undercut America’s only reliable ally in the region. His attempt to broker any kind of accord between Israel and the Palestinians is in disarray. His special envoy George Mitchell just resigned and Israel is rightfully concerned with Obama’s hard-line on Israeli borders and his fondness for the Arab world. And with the “Arab Spring” possibly sweeping Islamists into power, Israel will be further isolated in the region.
6. Global organizations: By ceding power to the United Nations, International Monetary Fund and other international organizations, Obama is undermining America’s sovereignty. The Libyan military action is a case in point, approved by the UN and not by Congress. And with the IMF funneling billions of U.S. tax dollars to bail out debt-ridden countries, one wonders if the idea of a One World Government is becoming a reality.
7. Brazil oil: It was bad enough when Obama pulled the plug on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. But after oil companies sent their drilling rigs to Brazil, Obama said, “We want to be one of your best customers,” and announced plans to lend billions to the state-owned oil company to drill off the coast of Brazil. Memo to President Obama: There are plenty of oil resources in the United States that, if tapped, could create jobs and lessen dependence on foreign oil.
8. Pakistan: This supposed U.S. ally has consistently undermined U.S. anti-terror efforts, as its intelligence service seemingly is supportive of anti-American jihadists. Pakistan either allowed safe harbor for Osama bin Laden or was totally incompetent despite billions of dollars of U.S. aid. The mixed signals from the Obama administration following the Osama bin Laden raid only further damaged the relationship with Pakistan.
9. Russia: Obama’s clumsy attempt to push the reset button with Russia had the U.S. making concessions on missile defense and nuclear arms without gaining anything in return. Instead of moving closer to the U.S., Russia is aligning with China, Brazil, India and other developing nations on key issues.
10. Apologizing: Obama’s apology tour shortly after taking office sent the message that he didn’t really think all that highly about America. Not only wasn’t America exceptional, but it was guilty of heinous offenses. No thank you, Mr. President, for your apologies. As Memorial Day approaches and we honor those who died for our country, we can be proud of the causes they served.

Israel has a right to protect their nation the same as any other country. The palestinians are enslaved but it is not by Israel but Hamas. You have to remember that the Palestinians like the rest of the Arab world want nothing more than Israel fade away. They are all cousins because their roots go back to Abraham. Netanyahu’s speech addressing Congress yesterday was an embarrassment. No other law making organ would have allowed a head of State of another country to disparage its President with such arrogant disdain. GOP leaders loved it! Only in America are we so lame. Republicans and our GOP congressional members so filled with hate for President Obama that its members would gloat in another leader of a foreign country to whom our treasury is issuing billions of dollars in aid, while a GOP Congress wants to cut medicare, education, research, energy and food stamp programs. What the hell! How dare they be so ignorant. Even more, to allow Netanyahu to use his fear mongering to further manipulate public opinion. As a fiercely patriotic American, I am incensed and embarrassed that our congressional leaders do not see that this man does not want piece. That whatever their dislike for our President, they would allow another foreign leader to disrespect him on our soil, in the people’s hall. But then, I suppose that is the ploy, where ever and from whomever discredit of President Obama comes from matters little to the GOP, as long as it flows. President Obama offered Netanyahu a golden opportunity to get started with peace talks again. The climate is right, the time is right now but he believes his hard line position is the only way. Living in a dark past and he wants to keep America there with him – ‘misery loves company’. We can’t afford to stay. We can’t afford to lick their wounds, our country needs our dollars. Our youth need our attention. They won’t be in a position to compete with Israeli youth or any others if we don’t repair our educational system and job training corps. Our youth don’t need to be deployed to another part of the Middle East to fight in a conflict that can be avoided. Deploy the applauding members of Congress.

The “Update” for this article compares the number of standing ovations between Obama and Netanyahu (with Netanyahu getting the most!) What is the importance of this information?
It fails to show that the standing ovations for Netanyahu included both sides of the aisle. Those for Obama, except for a few, only included the Democrats. Only half the chamber stood and applauded for Obama.
The truth is, this data is meaningless, and seems silly as an “Update.” The truth is, Congress, in it’s entirety, is more supportive, in a huge way, of Israel than they are of what Obama is calling, “His Foreign Policy.” And once again, he is backing down from his initial position, trying to explain away what he said. Apparently, he watched Bibi’s speech, and figured out his approach is not the popular one.
As a President, Obama has more contradictory approaches to Policy, both Foreign or Domestic, than a mooooslum sheik has wives! No wonder he cannot be trusted, and no one understands what his position on almost anything might be.

What anti-Israel posters refused to admit is that prior to the 20th century, there was no ethnic group known as “Palestinian.” Israel has existed both as a country and as a people for the better part of 3,000 years, starting first when Abram was called of God. Like it or not, the country of Israel has as its roots a covenant between God and Abram that ultimately led through conquest to the establishment of the country of Israel. The 1948 agreement simply provided recognition of Israel as a country. Most scholars agree that Palestinians are simply a group of Arabs who were displaced by other Arab countries living in the area established as Israel. Although eligible for citizenship in Israel, this group (many of whom were descendants of Abram/Abraham and related by blood to the Jews), “Palestinians” today is made up of individuals generally without a country and not because of Israel but inspite of. No other Arab country will have these people as an entity. Why then should the anti-Jewish segment of the world want to impose them on Israel?

Netanyahu has set a very simple starting point – Israel will accept a Palestinian state, but the Palestinian state MUST accept a Jewish state. Obama wants Israel to surrender defensive geography, even while the Palestinians vow to destroy Israel? What kind of twisted sense of logic or fairness is that?

Welcome to America, where the elected respresentatives of the American people cheer a foreign leader more than our country’s leader.
And…..no one seems to see this as traitorous. Seig Hail!

So, of course, Israel wants “peace” not just land, right? The peace of the cemetary is what they want.

What is really amazing, to me, watching the speech and then listening to the pundits on the diferent newscasts, you have to wonder if you need a hearing aide. I mean every station had a differnt take, except Fox. I guees it makes the point that the mainstream media is so out of touch and so in the bag for Obama that they have to try and make the other guy look like the bad guy, sad.

Update 2. Obama got 25 half-standing ovations. Netenyahu got 29 full standing ovations.

It’s not a question of left vs. right. It’s not a question of Netanyahu vs. Obama.
The question is: can the Palestinians finally lay down their arms and accept the state of Israel? Period.

Ridiculous comments like those of CND Fox about 2500 year old Biblical prophecies of Moslem militias,Caliphates show total ignorance! Will someone please explain to these people that none of that existed 2000 years ago! It is frightening to think how many Americans (including congressmen) might believe this rubbish! As for the quote from Ezekiel announcing that Jesus will”intercede from Heaven” and destroy Al Quaeda… Which Ezekiel exactly?

Israeli influence on US government scares me now more than ever. They fall between two chairs – hated by conservative muslim states as well as distancing themselves more and more from Europe.
Europeans are tired of their arrogant approach to diplomacy. USA is their last and only “friend”… How can we keep supporting such a regime?

Why should Israel be accepted as a state? I see no arguments from “our world” to support this. You can refer to the bible as much as you want – but Israel has occupied someone elses land… Its that simple!

We have more than enough land here in the US to establish a closed Israeli state. Let them come to us – build walls around themselves and live happily ever after. Then the palestinians might leave in peace without being perscuted by Israel.
I cannot in my deepest mind grasp why Israel treats the palestinians like they were self treated during the 1940s…

who’s side are you on, congress?

My side is with the American Tax payer who can barley afford to feed their kids daily. Not sure about you but in my home we are down to one income coming in. Hearing how much foreign aid is leaving here makes me think someone has to be crazy. I could care less about either side Over There!!!!They want to cut help to the middle class, but continue to support others! We will never benefit from taking either side!!! America continues to help everybody else. No more help/aid for anyone, BUT the Americans that Pay in!!!!

In 1946-47,as a Royal Navy seal,I was on a special assignment in Haifa, Palestine. Our enemy were the Jewish terrorist groups, the Hagana, the Stern gang and the Irgun.Their combined ojective was to kill as many British servicemen or British civilians as possible and drive them out of Palestine,to facilidate the establishment of a Jewish country. Their methods are the foundation of the morden terrorist:- Blowing up hotels, flogging and hanging captured prisoners, blowing up railways, mailing letter bombs etc. etc,all financed and supported from the U.S.A. When the Jews were granted a country of their own ,by the U.N. in 1948,the first country to recognize them was the U.S.A..Overnight these terrorist group(in spite of the atrocities),became “Freedom fighters”. Over a million Arabs living in the area given to the Jews by the U.N.,many who had lived there for hundreds of generations, over night lost their citizenship and became the nobody’s of the world, many left their ancestral home and ended up in squalid refugee camps. You see you could not be a citizen of Israel unless you were a Jew.It is therefore convenient for the U.S. and Israel to say that they will not negotiate with Hamas, which they conveniently class as a terrorist organization. Hamas objectives are identical to the terrorist groups we were fighting in Palestine. They want their own sovereign country, their extremist position of not recognizing Israel, is no different to the Jewish terrorist groups of not recognizing the occupation of Palestine by the British, whose mandate, after the Ottoman occupation, was the protectorate of the area. The Israelis have no intention of having peace, their ultimate goal is to grab the entire area previously known as Palestine.Natanyahu is a warmongering fake, supported by the U.S.Jewish community, who, after all control the U.S. foreign policies.

Reminds me of the 1989 speeches of Nicolai Ceausescu to the Rumanian Communist Party: unanimous standup ovation every couple of minutes …. till a few weeks later when he and his wife were summarily shot. Take care Bibi and Sarah and remember: he who laughs last, laughs longest.

Of COURSE Mr.Mileikowsky (Bibi’s real family name) got more standing ovations than the President.
Congress (BOTH parties) gets a LOT of campaign money from AIPAC.
Ms. Pelosi, alone, got $83K.
There are only two solutions to the divided loyalties of US pols: 1) register AIPAC as a foreign agency, and 2) More importantly, change the law to limit candidates campaign funds to a single public source.

Now that is what a REAL leader sounds like! He is for the safety and security of his country and knows how to secure his borders. He is for all his people not just his cronies and one party. Wow, it made me realize what an empty suit we have as President.

If this is “exactly what politics looks like when it is dominated by ‘right wing thinkers and demogogues,’” then consider me converted.

I don’t understand why people cry about support to Israel. When you need a platform in the middle east for X-Band radar, Naval ports, Airports etc, you turn to Israel. No need to kiss to local dictators in Arab countries.
People forget how Israel helped US. During the 1960s Israel got Mig21, state of the art fighter or that time and gave it to US, and thus US got information that helped US pilots in Vietnam and in general air arenas around the world.
When Israel signed peace deals with Egypt and Jordan, Israel was promised a support to help to arm its army,
Is that what US word is worth? promise once and break your word later?
