John Edwards Faces Possible Indictment for Affair Cover-up

ABC News’ James Hill reports: Former senator from North Carolina, John Edwards, will be prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice for alleged violations of campaign laws to cover up an extra-marital affair with his mistress Rielle Hunter, ABC News has learned.

The once promising presidential candidate has been the subject of a lengthy federal investigation focused on hundreds of thousands of dollars allegedly provided by two wealthy supporters. The affair ruined Edwards' political career as well as his marriage to his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth. Edwards had four children with Elizabeth, one of whom died in a car accident in 1979, and he also fathered a daughter with his mistress.
