Photo Shows Situation Room Intensity During Osama Bin Laden Raid
ABC's Sunlen Miller reports: The White House has released 8 photos of President Obama’s day Sunday – showing behind-the-scenes shots of the President’s meetings in the Situation Room with his national security team, and phone calls throughout the day leading up to his statement in the East Room last night on the killing of Osama bin Laden. The most remarkable image shows a steely-faced President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, along with members of the national security team crammed into the room and trailing out the doorway, listening to or watching something. Secretary of State Clinton is covering her mouth and she stares on. Classified documents (obscured) are strewn across the table. (Click on the Image for a larger version).
It is not clear what the group is looking at, but the caption does not do the photo justice. It reads: "President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, along with members of the national security team, receive an update on the mission against Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room of the White House, May 1, 2011."

The really, really ironic part of this is that if it were up to anyone in that photo, the takedown of OBL would not have happened.
The intel that allowed it to happen was a result of EIT on KSM and Abu Faraj al-Libi.

Looks like they’re watching a helmet camera transmission. The people look so intense – Obama still looks cool, but never seen him look like that.

Those still shots…WOW. They tell the whole story don’t they? Kudos to the President, his administration and especially our military special forces. Excellent, excellent work!

Now let’s bring our troops home and do something about our border, the near failed narco-state to our south, and the criminal illegal aliens bringing violence, crime, and poverty to our country! OBL was bad but some of those crazed druglords in Mexico are almost as bad with what they are doing to Mexico, the USA, and people.

“The intel that allowed it to happen was a result of EIT on KSM and Abu Faraj al-Libi.’
Rumsfeld just blew up this stupid meme being passed around by torture apologists.
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells Newsmax the information that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden was obtained through “normal interrogation approaches” and says the notion that terrorist suspects were waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay is a “myth.”

Overseas prison…Waterboarding….deal with it….

“Overseas prison…Waterboarding….deal with it….”
Yes because Rumsfeld has a reason to lie about it.
Poor right wingers, Osama Bin laden is dead, the world is celebrating and all they can think about is their UnAmerican love of torture.

Don’t care…Rumsfield is the PAST I can accept, apparently not the libs…MOVE ON Obama did…VOTE 2012….

“Rumsfield is the PAST I can accept, apparently not the libs”
Rumsfeld stating unequivocally that enhanced terrorist interrogation techniques were NOT used is apparently something you cannot accept.
The right wing has been losing its battle with rationality for years and it looks like Osama Bin Laden being killed has pushed them over the edge.
“Vote 2012″
Yeah vote sanity, vote Obama.
Posted by: Ryan C | May 2, 2011, 8:25 pm 8:25 pm
Wait, Ryan C. So there was no water boarding?
Posted by: MayBee | May 2, 2011, 8:44 pm 8:44 pm
Again, I don’t care (Runfield)…Obama made a brave decision based upon intel arrived by water boarding…I cannot second guess Obama’s motives by accepting info based upon methods he is against don’t care it worked…As far as sanity goes (vote), the country is elated at UBL passing; however, not so elated at the present state of the economy Obama has not been able to tackle…I am afraid the libs will be disappointed when this eventually dies down and reality of our economy sits in again…Vote Obama….A BIG 99.9 % NOT…..

The bin Laden kill pretty much guarantees a second term for our President, so the rightwingers are already whining, lamenting, and politicizing. Of course Bush would not be the CinC to push the button on OBL, because Bush needed to keep Osama as an external threat to justify expanding his police state powers, to enable the oil companies to tighten their grip on world markets, and to justify anti-Muslim hate from the Right.
OBL is gone, but now we reap the harvest of economic jihad from Bush’s oil buddies. It will be a few more years before we drag them out of their Texas spider holes.

Gotta ask…How does the fact UBL is now gone, PAY MY BILLS…FIND ME A JOB…PAY FOR MY INCREASED ENERGY COSTS..This WILL PASS…BUT continue that “Hope and Change” attitude…..

Good job Navy Seals, CIA and anyone else who helped this happen.
It is silly to think waterboarding led to this info, as it came from the Pakistanis only 8 months ago, the compound was right near their best military school and it was obviously very fortified for the neighborhood.Give up on the idea that waterboarding works, the experts tell us torture, including waterboarding leads to false information.

It was a close thing with that helicopter going down. We’re lucky, really lucky, this didn’t turn into a Mogadishu moment. These Hollywood style drive by’s only work perfectly in the movies. I would have preferred the guy get it by a 500 lb. bomb than risk the embarassment of another Clinton-style blackhawk down. We got real lucky putting our boys in harm’s way like this. Hats off to the Seal Team for their courage.

>>and (Rumsfeld) says the notion that terrorist suspects were waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay is a “myth.”<<
They weren't under EIT at Gitmo. The interrogations were done in Poland and Romania.
The misdirection about the EITs is put out by the media because they know that the typical lefty is pretty dense. Being a left wing propagandist has to be the easiest job in the world.

Thanks to Navy Seal Team 6 for the two taps to the head of Osama bin Laden while in his jammies instead of reading him his Miranda rights, allowing him to call his attorney, or subjecting him to water boarding ( Oh, how terrible that would be). May he rest in pieces down under.

Why do the naysayers on this blog think they know how they recieved and what actual intelligence the President and his team used to capture Osama. Whether you like our president or not, common sense would have you to realize that terrorist number one was killed during the Obama administration and because of the Obama administration. The Bush administration did not do it.They left the job undone and Obama as Commander and Chief decided to refocus the hunt for Bin Laden. The team that killed him was excellent but make no mistake, Barack is the hero for remembering to get the man who killed so many Americans. Just like he wants to provide education and health care, our president is determined to serve the needs of Americans, especially the hurt, underpriveleged and overlooked…. He is a real American at heart aand a Christian in his actions, especially remembering the case of the poor.

“The Bush administration did not do it.They left the job undone and Obama as Commander and Chief decided to refocus the hunt for Bin Laden. ”
It is naive to believe that our military, CIA, and Intelligence organizations slacked off in the pursuit of bin Laden at any time under the Bush administration.
Looks like Bush bluffed you, too.

TV: “The Bush administration did not do it.”
Actually, without the Bush administration and it’s handling of the War on Terror, it’s enhanced interrogation of detainees, and it’s initial intelligence on this, Obama would not have found bin Laden. If it were up to Obama, we wouldn’t have had GITMO to begin with or the critical intelligence we gathered from detainees. Classic Democrats and classic Obama — take sole credit for the work of the previous administration — the same work that you demonized to help get you into office. Pathetic and shameful. Only ignorant fools can’t see the hypocrisy, here.
TV: “They left the job undone and Obama as Commander and Chief decided to refocus the hunt for Bin Laden.”
Haven’t you figured out yet that all that “refocusing” and “keeping our eye on the ball” stuff as related to Afghanistan and bin Laden was just partisan politics on the part of Obama and Democrats? Just like GITMO, wiretapping, Patriot Act, etc. I’m sure it will surprise most liberals to find out that the capturing of bin Laden was 4 years in the making. Therefore, if you are going to credit Obama, you will also need to credit the previous administration who got Obama started on the trail that ultimately led to bin Laden.
TV: “The team that killed him was excellent but make no mistake, Barack is the hero for remembering to get the man who killed so many Americans.”
I think most would agree that the special forces soldiers who put their lives on the line are there heroes, here, more than anyone. Leave it to self-centered liberals to give Obama all the credit. Par for the course, really. While you might be surprised at your fellow liberal’s ambition to hunt down one of our biggest enemies, it actually falls under normal job responsibilities for most presidents. I know, it’s been a while since we’ve seen backbone out of our president.

FRNCIS OGOLI: “If this mission would have failed everyone wolud have been calling him Jimmy Carter . . .”
We’re already calling him Jimmy Carter for his overall failure as a president. Further, we wouldn’t have called him anything had the mission failed, since we likely never would have known about it. I was wondering about just that — how many times have we tried and failed to get bin Laden over the years? I bet this wasn’t our first crack at it.

LMAO….why are we debating WHO should get credit for KILLING BIN LADEN. This is a non issue for honest and intelligent Americans. The CURRENT President is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF! Bush didn’t make a call and the intelligence or the Navy Seals didn’t take any orders or commands from Bush. Waterboarding produce NOTHING! Do you reallly think that if it had..the Past President and his V.P. would NOT have used this information to capture or Kill Bin Laden, only to justify their illegal activities after 9/11? As far as PHOTO OPTS…the “MISSION ACCOMPLISH” one COMES TO MIND. Now THAT was a Photo Opt without any accomplishments. The racist and haters who are still not giving this President his props is worst than any Terrorist that is trying to destroy our country from inside out. Get real, you haters.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for the Bushies to take credit for something they had nothing to do with. Bush took most of the troops out of Afghanastan and sent them to Iraq. It wasn’t until Obama came into office and sent more troops back and refocused efforts to chase Binladen all the way into Pakistan. Give creidt where its do! to the President his cabinet and our great military, soecial ops and intel!

Who cares about all of this back and forth…..just be happy that OBL is now deceased! Now let’s focus on the new issue at hand……….what is coming our way next!! There will be retaliation because that is how terrorists work. Let’s try and combat that one for now since we won’t know where it will be coming from and by whom the blow will be dealt. That is way more important to me than which president deserves the credit for his death. Focus America!!!!!

Wake up people. All Obama did is what he always does – sit on the fence. Osama is now dead so he tipped to the right and took credit for the killing. If this was election time and Osama was still out there, then Obama would have tipped the other way and began preaching to those mindless people who keep listening to him about how much money the Republicans spent on the war on terror with no results. Anyone with with any senses should be able to see how this man, Obama, who we have to call president acts.
So aside from taking credit for a war on terror not started by him, fly out to ground zero for his photo opportunity (I bet he’ll use that photo as much as he can on his campaign tour), tax the hell out of us, and take away the health care we had to leave us with his empty promises -since there is no established program (by the way govt run programs like soc security are working out so well and I can’t wait to stand in line when I’m sick I only its not those people from the DMV running this thing – and tax us more for nothing. WAKE UP AMERICA you are following a leader down a path which will ruin you while at the end of the day he will have a lifetime of $$, security guards, and his own health care plan which you will all be paying for.
