After receiving his regular morning briefings President Obama will tape a townhall meeting with CBS News on the economy at the Newseum in Washington, DC.
Back at the White House, the President will meet with the Senate Democratic Caucus in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building “to discuss the range of important issues on the legislative agenda, including the need to adopt a balanced approach in confronting the nation’s long-term deficit challenges,” the White House says.
On Thursday the president is slated to meet with the Senate Republican Caucus.
In the evening, the President and the First Lady will host a celebration of American poetry and prose in the East Room “by welcoming accomplished poets, musicians and artists as well as students from across the country to the White House,” the White House says.
The president will deliver remarks before hearing from performers like Elizabeth Alexander, Billy Collins, Common, Rita Dove, Kenneth Goldsmith, Alison Knowles, Aimee Mann and Jill Scott. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers will now also join the evening’s performance.
