ABC News’ Sheila Marikar (@SheilaYM) reports:
In the battle between the would-be first daughters, Meghan McCain seems to be taking the high road.
The daughter of 2008 Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain took to Twitter late Tuesday to respond to claims Bristol Palin made in her forthcoming book that Meghan was “constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining” while Sarah Palin and her family were on the campaign trail .
“My response to Bristol Palin:,” Meghan wrote, linking to a YouTube video from 2008 election that shows her cozying up in a chair with Bristol’s younger sister, Piper, saying she “couldn’t be more excited” about Sen. McCain choosing Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate.
Of course, Meghan McCain hasn’t always steered clear of Palin-related conflict. Last fall, she took a dig at Bristol while promoting her book “Dirty, Sexy Politics,” telling “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart that being forced to see an image consultant while a pregnant teen is left alone "does a little bit to your self esteem."
