I can't believe that the turds that say don't tax the rich can also form their mouths to say cut all of the safety net programs. Oh and that will create jobs. Do you actually know what creates jobs. Demand creates jobs!!!!! I have heard that the consumer (bnasically poor and middle class) is 70% of the economy. If that 70% are debt riden and/or don't have money to spend than there is no/little demand for anything. My solution would be to give a $100,000 check to all americans making less that $200,000. That would reduce the debt (taxes) get the economy going (buy goods and services), create a demand (jobs).

@Searambler:
Nope. That would be the "FleeBaggers" and everyone knows that those guys were Democrats and they could only do so because the Unions Paid for their rooms and meals, etc. They didn't even have the backbone to do that on their *own* dime! Worthless even when supporting supposedly their *own* cause!
In that case, they only came back when it became obvious that legislation was going to pass that would *not* require their participation. That is *not* the case here.
I fully expect the Republican's to actually show up in Congress and Oppose the Ex-Madam Pelosi's Push for More Taxes! They are *not* fleeing. There just is not anything being put on the table by the Democrats that is even remotely palatable, at this time. The Democrats are *deliberately* poisoning the well!
Read the Polls. Even among Democrats (who may not *stay* Democrats for long) the Majority of Americans want "NO NEW TAXES" at this time! The Independants favor the Republican Position by a 2 to 1 Margin, for Pete's sake. Do I have to even say what the Republican's think?
If Obama does not step in, and slap Pelsoi and here crew Down Hard, he is going to look "owned" by the "Beach", getting sand kicked in his wimpy face! And I think he honestly wants to get re-elected. He fails here, where his opinion numbers are already in the toilet, and He Obviously didn't here Bill Clinton Clearly say:
"It's the Economy, Stupid!"
At this point, only 30% say they will vote for Obama next year for sure. The Demographics show that he can't even get a positive out of the 10% Free Votes he should be able to count upon just because he is Black! And 37% will surely be voting against him. Even if he declares Amnesty for ALL ILLEGALS and gets them registered to vote, he can't win with those kind of numbers!

Kudos for being fairly evenhanded here Ann. Most of the Media is calling the Republican's stance "Manuevering", and tries to paint the Democrats insistance that Taxes be Raised as "Reasonable Positioning" without so much as a thought as to how biased such a positional supporting statement is.
Frankly, I wish you *could* just tax the Rich (like John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi, as well as names on the other side of the fence) but it *never* works that way at all. Tax here, and the Rich can go there. Middle Americans don't have room to manuever. They will get pinched ultimately with *any* tax increase. Companies pass expenses on through prices. So do the Rich really pay taxing corporate America? Nope. The common man does! Tax the Rich themselves, and what do they do? They move. Pretty easy for them. Pretty easy for Companies, too. If not to South Carolina, maybe to Mexico or India or China even, where they can actually *make* a buck, which is their reason for existing!
New taxes is *not* going to help. Cutting budgets will help. More and more Americans are on board with that. They have become disillusioned with the "Tax and Spend" mentality of the Democrats, and it shows in the Polls, despite any attempts to spin it the other way.
Maybe you guys are just waking up to the fact that if you toe the "Progressive Line" too long, you are soon going to be irrelevant, and your ultimate bosses, the stockholders, may just invest their capital in some other contry and kick you to the curb. That may not be the case. I don't care why. Play evenhanded. Thanks for doing so in this case!
