ABC News' Mary Bruce reports:
Following the eighth round of his deficit reduction negotiations with Congress yesterday to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling, today Vice President Joe Biden will have a private lunch with the President.
With just weeks until the August 2 deadline to raise the debt limit, the two will likely discuss how the debt talks are progressing.
As Biden said last night, “now we’re getting down to the real hard stuff.”
Obama and Biden can also strategize during lunch about their much-anticipated golf game with Speaker Boehner and Ohio Gov. Kasich tomorrow.
Later, the president will meet privately with his Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, where deficit reduction will again likely be a topic of conversation.
In the afternoon, the President will pay a visit to wounded service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
