He will just take all his toys and go home. What a spoiled brat! Way to much for him to spend an hour or so getting us out of the even deeper mess he has gotten us into. At least Cantor has a plan and laid it out there, he has NO plan and No specifics except raise taxes. Pretty soon he will run out of everybody elses money.

Normally Presidents are not so hard line against temporary increases if needed to resolve the debt limit issue.
It isn’t unusual for their to be debate about budget cuts when the debt limit comes up for an increase either, that is what Congress is supposed to do and why a debt limit exists at all.
Most admit the deficit and debt must be cut, Obama has asked for a 2 trillion dollar debt increase, and as part of fiscal responsibility, that must include a workable and honest plan to decrease the defict and debt.

Cantor’s show of desperation was wasting time and the President correctly ended the meeting. Unlike McConnell, Cantor has not absorbed the point that if the ceiling is not raised, Obama wins reelection. Suggesting an extension really just shows his lack of understanding concerning the realities of the negotiation. Obama has the upper hand and is too smart to lose it.

Republicans raised the debt ceiling 7 times during the Bush administration. SEVEN times! I think if the top of the list of those who don’t get paid is private security firms operating in Iraq and Afghanistan and sentors and congressmen, we would have approval in an instant. I used to be republican, but I am changing my voter registration. I cannot support a party that only represents major corporations and the richest people in the country. The current republican senators and congressmen do not care about the struggles of the average American citizen inthis current economy. Tjhey donot care if not raising the debt ceiling would plunge this country into a further and far more serious recession. All they care about is that Big Oil and major corporations get their tax breaks and subsidies. And they will screw over the elderly and their health care to get it. Goodbye Republican Party! You’ve lost me and everyone I know who was a registered Republican!

Boehner & the President had worked out a plan where both sides gave in and together worked on a plan to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion.
Then along came look-at-me-I’M-important Cantor & killed the positive outcome of Obama-Boehner’s productive collaboration by point-blank refusing to put taxes on the table…no way would Cantor allow the repeal of billions of unnecessary tax loopholes & subsidies for fat cat corporations, no way would he allow the Bush Tax Cuts to sunset back to 2000 levels (as the laws were written to do. No he’d rather hospitals were closed & food stamps canceled for kids living in poverty or thousands of teachers, police & firemen lose their jobs.
