ABC News’ Mary Bruce (@marykbruce)Reports:
Known for his talkative nature, Vice President Joe Biden limited himself to just 136 characters today in sending his first tweet.
In his first foray into the Twitterverse Biden posted, “Just met w/Cabinet re unacceptable violence against HS+college women; tasked agencies to mobilize all assets to attack this problem – VP.”
The Vice President’s office joined the social media site earlier this month and his @VP Twitter feed has already racked up over 21,000 followers. Today’s post, however, marks the first time Biden has personally tweeted.
“Yes, that was a direct tweet from VP Biden on an issue he cares very much about. Stay tuned for more, his tweets will always be signed ‘-VP’” his office tweeted to confirm.
Perhaps Biden’s been getting some pointers from President Obama, who has also been sending more personal tweets in recent weeks. Last week, Obama took it a step further, sending his first “live tweet” during the White House Twitter town hall.
