McConnell Blasts President Obama, Democrats for ‘Deliberate Deception’ in Debt Negotiations

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller (@sunlenmiller) reports:
Lest you think that the debt talks are progressing, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY., offered a very blunt assessment of the status of the negotiations on the Senate floor this morning, accusing Democrats of “deliberate deception” and admitting that he now believes as long as President Obama is in office a real solution is “unattainable.”
“It was their commitment to big government that stood in the way of a grand bargain,” McConnell said of Democrats and the White House, “The American people don’t want that, and Republicans won’t be seduced into enabling it.”
McConnell’s Senate floor speech came just hours before lawmakers are due to head to the White House to meet with President Obama, their third straight meeting, in as many days, on the issue as the two parties work to raise the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt ceiling before the administration’s August 2nd deadline.
“I truly believed we could get this done,” he said. “In the end, it appears that the perceived electoral success of demagogueing a solution proved its undoing. Or perhaps it was just the ideological commitment to preserving the size of government by the most stridently liberal members of the other side. “
Flat out, McConnell stated that he believes now that as long as President Obama is in the Oval Office, “a real solution is unattainable.”
“In my view the President has presented us with three choices: smoke and mirrors, tax hikes, or default. Republicans choose none of the above. I hoped to do good; but I refuse to do harm.”
A combative McConnell pointed a finger at the Democrats and the President for the ongoing impasse, saying that the president is gambling with the nations’ future – in what he says represents the “saddest commentary on the status of the leadership as the White House.”
“At a moment when we needed leadership the most, we got the least. The financial security of the nation was being gambled on the President’s wager that he could convince people our problems would be solved if we just all agreed to take it out on the guy in the fancy house down the street. And I’m proud of the fact that Republicans refused to play along.”
Noting that Republicans stood their ground, McConnell said that they have and will refuse to support a tax hike, making their position “crystal clear” from the start.
“They asked us to join them in another Washington effort to pull the wool over the eyes of the American people. They offered us the opportunity to participate in the kind of deliberate deception of the public that has given public service such a bad name in recent years. We all saw how it worked. The Administration carefully leaked to the media, without any details, the idea that it was willing to go along with trillions of dollars in spending cuts. “
McConnell said the lack of detail in the White House leaks to media “concealed” the fact that savings they were willing to support was “at best smoke and mirrors.”
“The hope here was that the budget gimmicks and deferred decision-making they actually supported would have the appearance of serious belt-tightening. But the practical effect would have been at most about a couple of billion dollars in cuts up front with empty promises of more to follow. We’ve seen this kind of thing before. It’s just this kind of sleight of hand governing that’s put our nation more than $14 trillion in debt. And I will not associate myself with it. I refuse to join in an effort to fool the American people.”
“We will not pretend that a bad deal is a good one,” McConnell said, “The truth is, the Democrats saw this debate as a unique opportunity to impose the type of tax hikes they want so badly but couldn’t pass even in a Democrat-controlled Senate last year.”
So where do the negotiations head from here?
All that said, McConnell says Republicans will not let the government default on its obligations so they will continue to work to a deal.
“Republicans will choose a path that actually reflects the will of the people — which is to do the responsible thing and ensure the government doesn’t default on its obligations. And to continue to press the administration to rein in Washington. Not to freeze it in place. That’s why I will continue to urge the President to rein in our deficits and debt in a way that puts the short and long-term health of our economy ahead of his personal vision of government. “
The leaders from the House and Senate are still set to meet the President today at the White House at 3:45 pm today.

Obama & the Democrats, who btw, have not presented a budget in over two years, are losing this battle. Obama owns this economy. Posted by: justayreal74 | July 12, 2011, 11:25 am 11:25 am
McConnell – the man who said his FIRST priority was to see that Obama was a 1 term president. Not jobs, Not the economy. He and Boehner think that they are going to win by simply saying NO to everything and that people are too stupid to actually understand what they are doing. People know that the 2003 tax cuts did NOT create jobs; they know that the Repubs did NOT cut spending but spent like Newt Gingrich at Tiffanys. People know the republicans raised the debt ceiling with NO fuss, NO spending cuts while BUSH was in office. We KNOW the Republicans are the cause of much of the problems plaguing this country – and will remember in 2012.

What I find very amuzing is how the Democrats are now “turning” against Obama because he his trying to move to the center and has put Social Security on the table. Looks like Obama has thrown Pelosi and Reid under the bus, as well as all his “kool-aid” drinking followers! We are seeing this deceptive, community organizer, Barack Obama, being destroyed not only by the Republicans, but by his own Progressive Party as well. And….America thought Jimmy Carter was the WORST president ever! Obama, makes Carter look intelligent. Glad I bought extra popcorn…..this movie of Obama’s demise is getting better by the day! America is a strong nation…”We the People” are taking our country back, which does not include the deceptive lies of Barack HUSSEIN Obama! FIREUP, America! “We the People” in order to form a more PERFECT Union will kick Obama out of office in 2012!

President Obama places a priority on the interests of the country and the middle class. Mitch McConnell and his followers place a priority on their own self interests and are funded by large corporations, including the financial industry hich I might point out was bailed out by the middle class. When Republicans repeat “job killing taxes” – do you really think any of those jobs will come back if tax cuts to the top earners are extended? Those jobs are in other countries now and make no mistake, corporations have no intention of ever bringing them back.

I thought Ploufe stated that jobs weren’t that important and that voters would not consider that factor when pulling the O lever come voting time.
He may be right. With record numbers on food stamps and unemployment and 50% of earners paying absolutely no taxes who could blame anyone not voting for someone wanting to put them back to work.
Obama has had time to turn it around and as little as I know about Mcconnell he is right in stating that agreements must be concrete not a bunch of “leaks” hinting that they might do this or that.
Time for everyone to put their cards on the table.

Hey McConnell, how do fix your face to say anything when you are a Senator from one of the poorest and federal aid dependent states in the nation. What have you done to change that…nothing. Kentucky ranks among the poorest states, among the worst in education, and among the worst in health care. Do something about the problems YOU have in your own state before you pretend like you have answers to anything else. I’m sure though you have the best of everything that the rich and powerful can have, even in Kentucky. Meanwhile your state suffers every day in misery and you do nothing. Shame on you.

President Obama even said yesterday that he was going up against his own party to put some issues like Social Security and Medicare on the table. What about the Republicans, they can’t even put some revenue resource up because it’s the same o same o for them. I truly thing that the Republicans and the Tea Party are really out of touch. One if we want to leave a future to the children it’s not just about the debt this country has, we also about climate control and what our future is as a whole for this world. We can’t have one with out the other. So President Obama, keep putting the Republicans words down their throat. If it was a Moral Imperative for them to fix this deficit, I don’t want a bandage approach I want it done right the first time. The Republicans do not want to raise tax’s on the wealthy because they know that when election time comes they won’t have a leg to stand on. American People time to let the Republicans know the have not’s shouldn’t be the only ones to pay but the haves should too. Because there are no jobs that the HAVES with the tax breaks they are currently getting courtesy of the Republicans.

going down, just like we all heard before
Tarp 1-2, The stimulus and even Obamacare.
The treasury security is leaving his office very
soon and remember this man, is the same
who owed Uncle Sam back taxes. I have seen from enough other sources that this country has enough money to pay Medicare, social security,The Military, and
the interest on the outstanding debt. But then it would have to make some very tough cuts. Well those cuts are going to be made at some time and that is that can they just like to kick down the road. It is
time to quit playing games and fix this,
because raising the debt ceiling is just that
raising the debt.

McConnell, Boeher and Cantor are nothing but racists whose sole goals as they have stated many many times is to make sure Obama doesn’t get relected. It doesn’t matter what he does they will want the opposite – at the end of the day the rich greedy good ole boy network aka Republicans won’t work with Obama because he is an African American. Period.
Posted by: elsebark | July 12, 2011, 11:55 am 11:55 am
Senator McConnell, please be quiet. First, it was about jobs, which the Republicans did nothing to address. Then it became the debt/deficit. You all raised the debt ceiling seven times even while lowering taxes for your rich buddies, even though we were fighting two wars. And NOW you have a problem? Your dishonesty knows no bounds. You wanted discussions, and now that the President says let’s go, the Republicans come in and right from the start, no tax increases, even on the very same folks who created this cluster to begin with. There will only be cuts; which of course will only affect middle-class Americans, but hey, what do Republicans care about middle-class Americans. I am so sick of hearing Republicans say what the American people want. How the hell would they know. Last I heard, the American people were in favor of changing the tax code so the extremely wealthy pay the percentage of taxes they are supposed to, not less because of loopholes. Fair is fair. Shared is shared. Republicans do not understand that concept. They negotiate in bad faith. Keep walking out. Republicans said it was a moral imperative for America to get her fiscal house in order. Well . . . this my way or the highway is getting very old.

Obama is way too immature and way too inexpertiened to be president. I am encouraged by Sentor McConnell’s comments. In essence he agrees that Obama is all fluff, no stuff. We’ve seen this before. George Bush was promised spending cuts by the Democrats in the early nineties if he agreed to a tax increase. They reneged. Ronald Reagan was promised immigration reform by the Democrats in the eighties if he would issue an amnesty. He did and the Democrats promptly forgot their promise. Democratic pledges to cut future spending in exchange for current tax hikes quite simply cannot be believed. It is now obvious that Obama lies on an ongoing and frequent basis; the Democrats’ past history shows they cannot be trusted. The Republican are wise to hold firm.

DAVID, After eight years when Bush decimated the economy, change does not come over night. Many people who were disgusted with Bush and voted for Obama did so with unrealistic expectations. Had Obama not bailed out the wall street thieves–the very people who wrecked the economy— guess what, things might have been worse. The GOP intransigence and refusal to work with the president is not surprising. Their motive is political. When they usurp power just like they did when Bush came into power, they will again give you the same bitter pill to swallow. Only them will most Americans look back and see that the problem was not Obama but an obstructionist political party at work.

Why is it that these news forums seem to attract the absolutely nutiest of the right wing conservatives? Suggesting democrats will replace Obama on the 2012 ticket? Absurd. Mitch McConnell is the biggest hypocrit in the Senate. The reason we don’t have a deal right now is because of him. He doesn’t want to repeal the Bush era tax cuts for the richest Americans, who by the way are paying their lowest income tax rates in modern history. Plain and simple, if the Republicans want to defend tax cuts for rich people while the middle class sees its Medicare and Social Security gutted, then good luck winning in 2012 on that platform.

They got bailed out in hopes that capital may flow to small business. Guess what, they simply invest the money for capital gains and retire to to their mansions. That is unamerican.

His anger at Obama tells me that the President is in total charge of these negotiations, and the Republicans don’t really have a leg to stand on.
Their argument is cut Social Security, Medicare, and medicaid. But retain run-away defense spending, subsidies for oil companies, farm subsidies for wealthy city dwelling conservatives, Bush era tax cuts for wealthy Americans, and tax loopholes for big corporations.
What Mitch McConnell doesn’t like is that Barrack Obama is not gonna let him rob the elderly and Middle Class anymore. Giv’em Hell Barrack!

McConnell is a worm, he talks BS while in his own state people live in misery, ranking among the worst in everything, poverty, health care, education, etc. He can’t or won’t do anything to fix Kentucky but he sure thinks he knows what’s best for America. Thanks, but no thanks, we don’t want the rest of America going the Kentucky way. Fix your own backyard before you run your mouth. Oh, I see, those poor people and workers in Kentucky don’t count, only the rich ones like you do. Slimebucket. Sick and tired of these rear end kissing Republicans standing up only for the rich and corporations while screwing the rest of real America.

Well after all – Obama himself is against raising the debt limit – he even said it is “failuer of leadership” to do so. Actually Reid and Hoyer are also against it – they already voted gainst as did Obama in 2006. Did they FLIP FLOP or it is just good old politics. No – sure to GOD are national leader would not play politics with such a vital issue.

Hilarious! Republicans keep saying they are going to win presidency. Bachman says she is a submissive wife, so if she won her husband would be the decision maker. Have you seen this guy? Sarah does fine until the going gets rough, then she yells for Todd to bail her out. Todd is one of my favorites, but I don’t know if he wants to be the muscle behind the office. Pawlenty isn’t aggressive enough to stand up against the other politicians and he doesn’t have a husband to fight his battles for him. Romney is too shifty to be trustworthy, his stance changes several times a day. Huntsman is too diplomatic; sometimes an American President finds it necessary to sucker punch the opposition, I can’t see him doing that. Paul is only running to get air time for his message. Cain is smart enough and tough enough, but he’s a black man in a white party who only vote for their own. Christie and Perry don’t want to run because they are afraid of what the close scrutiny will reveal about the way they do business and Santorum is simply an opportunist who wants to be president, but is not capable of getting anyone to listen to him. The majority of Republicans don’t like these candidates, so why do they think Independents and Democrats will vote for them. I am a Republican and I voted to Obama in the last election and think he was the best choice, but even if I didn’t like him I would still vote for him before I would vote for any of the above candidates.

Bush Republicans handed Obama this economy. So why do you obviously brainwashed republicans keep saying otherwise. If he wouldn’t have spent the money to bailout the banks and auto industry, we’d be in a depression that would make the great one look like a economic boom. The republicans need to do what normal americans want and that is to help solve the issues, not worry about who’s in the White House. Grow up.

And no, nobody is against business making a legitimate profit and doing well, especially even more the small businesses of America which is the backbone of our country. These mega corporations who have shipped American jobs overseas to make even more obscene profits, could care less about the real America. Republicans are their prostitutes, saving them from paying a penny more in taxes or even from them paying any taxes. On top of that, these Republicans want to continue giving the Exxons of the world even more taxpayer welfare handouts while they reap record profits. No…let’s raid the elderly for their Social Security checks, their Medicare, and screw the rest of America, man, women, and children. But tax a non-paying or little paying rich corporation or the wealthy, NO WAY…this is the Republican way. We can’t have the rich live in only 5 mansions when they can live in 6. Shame on America, and shame on anyone who would defend this…including some here.

I think some Democratic senators with safe seats should also stand and take equally insane positions, make crazy statments and flat-out false arguments like McConnell is doing, just for media attention. This statement by McConnell is aimed squarely at the media, hoping to distract attention from the growing unpopularity of the Republicans’ position on this issue. Until democrats learn to play real hardball like the Repubs when pushed to the wall, they will suffer loss after loss on all the important issues.

Very sad. Very sad indeed. You beleive that after Bush for 8 years spent this country into a hole so deep, that a new Pres could just turn that around in two? Try it with you own budget. Go spend a 20 times what you take in, and balance it in two years. The republi-cant’s signed on for tax decrease for a short term (their own idea) to stimulate and get jobs, and put the tax increase back in place after a short term. They kept the money, financed off-shore profits, then renig’d on their own plan. No jobs and economy still in the hole.

Let the economy go down the tubes because of default and you will see 401Ks become 001Ks. And you can thank those rich Republicans in Congress who have no desire to sacrifice a penny in salary or benefits (among the best), but have no problem getting cutting Social Security and Medicare. No cuts for them, but screw you old folks and your health benefits. Maybe this is the Republicans way of “death panels”, keep squeezing more out of our seniors until they have nothing in Social Security benefits and Medicare. Yeah, those that need it most will be the ones that will suffer the most. The rich and wealthy don’t care, they got themselves hook up nicely by the Republicans. They won’t suffer.

Unfornately there are two separate debates going on and not just one. The American public needs to realize that raising the debt ceiling is a must and if we dont raise it the economy will fall into another recession period. The second debate needs to address government spending and revenue intake, you need both! I wonder sometimes how both republicans and democrates made it through college when they had to work in a collective team setting!

Can the people in Kentucky be that naive to believe that his man will somehow make Kentucky the shining star of the USA, when he could care less about the less fortunate? If unemployment is 9% come November 2012, Obama will not be elected and democrats will not retain control of the Senate nor win back the House. The momentum is on the Republicans side, because Obama has flip-flopped too many times to be believed anymore on the basis of his word. The truth is most Americans would rather believe in the notion that they can become a millionaire through sheer hard work than live well on federal, state, city, and teacher public pensions with social security to boot in their retirement and forego ever becoming a millionaire.

Yes, unfortunately racism is alive and well in America, and in particular the Republican side of the aisle in D.C. Nothing, absolutely nothing that this President does or will do will ever meet with their approval. That’s how deeply ingrained that racism is. What is really troubling is that for their own twisted and selfish reasons they would rather see this country fail at anything and everything, then see it succeed. In their world, it’s their way or the highway. Bet if this President were white, they would be more willing and able to resolve this as past Presidents have. Not rocket science ladies and gentlemen, it’s kind of real obvious regardless of how many times you deny it. You’re only fooling yourselves, nobody else. We know what time it is.

Interesting that President Obama demands $4 trillion in cuts, but Republican after Republican support Cantor and McConnell want a $1.7-$2.4 trillion deficit reduction instead.
Times sure are strange.
President Obama’s position is more like President Reagan’s position than any Republican President since Reagan. Yet, today’s Republicans act more like the Democrats of the 70′s and 80′s demanding everything.

What the Republicans are offering is a peice meal tease if you will. Our President does not want this. It would be better to have the deficit cleared then going back battling again. Eight years without income has hurt our economy. Very few companies have paid back their bailout funds. This was created by a previous administration and now they want to come up smelling like roses. If we default August 2, the rest of the world will suffer again and a few countries out there will never recover. Poverty, will create war. The president can offer a budget, the House (which are Repbulicans) can approve it or not. The Republicans want Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid to disappear. They want their big insurance corporation to thrive since seniors will be buying insurance from them. The jobs, will still be overseas and will never ever come back here to the USA. Those of you who voted Nov.2010 for change, you really got it, because in the end time will repeat itself:depression 1930! Your 401K’s will disappear, those of us who are working will loose our jobs because their are companies down sizing again if you have not noticed, we will loose our homes, cars, expensive food, crime will be prevalent. This is for the other half of the working people now. This is civil unrest. So the Republicans do not want to negotiate at all, but rather support their industry budies. Gas is going up again too….the crystal ball is cloudy. August 2nd is coming up…take your funds out of the institutions now!

If we are not careful in this country and the politics of the haves versus the have not keep going. We will eventually have a class war and could end up with what happened in Russia, China. Democracy is a great thing but when you cloak it in tax breaks for the rich, and say it’s for the America People, the American People are going to stop believing it and say no more in more than just electing a new President or Congress/Senate. US Democracy is still young and we have bastardized it by what we have elected to run our government. American people are a huge part of the blame to the cancer that we have allowed to run amok in Washington, the Republican party has become a corrupted entity and it has to stop.

As long as the president of the United States — a Democratic politician who has already agreed in principle to bigger cuts in Medicare and Social Security than any previous Democratic occupant of the White House — as long as he continues to refuse to unilaterally give in to every single one of our demands, we will continue our policy, established on the very first day of his presidency, of opposing with all our force everything he does.

What a shock. The Republicans who have been ballooning the debt under Reagan and the Bushes are now using it as their cudgel to beat Obama and the Dems, and their constituents are blind and dumb enough to believe them and forget who really created this mess. The fact that they’re completely opposed to raising taxes, even on the wealthy, just shows how hollow and bankrupt their rhetoric really is.
Posted by: Jordan N. | July 12, 2011, 1:47 pm 1:47 pm
There is no solution the Republicans will accept, period. Their stated goal is to destroy Obama, and if they have to destroy the nation to do so, fine with them. They are playing political games, that’s it. But the thing is, Obama is playing chess and they are playing checkers (or DODGEBALL, as my 19 yr old son pointed out)….yes, they have made and continue to make their position “crystal clear”; they work for the top 3%, they will stop at nothing to defend the richest and the largest corporations, they are willing to hold the other 98% of the nation hostage to their agenda, and they have NO NEW SOLUTIONS, only MORE OF THE SAME supply-side economics that got us INTO this mess to begin with.
Americans are getting a preview of Republican leadership going into 2012.
Obama is, of course, giving them enough rope to hang themselves with, but he is not having to resort to deception to do it…he has even put SS/Medicare/Medicaid on the table (and is being attacked by many in his base for it), has shown he is more than willing to work with the GOP, and they STILL refuse to budge one inch. Because they are not interested in a solution or honest negotiations; they are a bunch of playground bullies who want it ALL their way or the highway.
BTW, for those of you repeating the lie of “no jobs, economy worse than ever” (do you get PAID to do it, or are you just uninformed?), we are in the 16th straight month of private sector job creation. More such jobs were created in 2010 ALONE than in 8 YEARS of Bush. We lost 8 million jobs under Bush and supply-side economics (tax cuts for the rich and big business, the SAME policies the GOPers are pushing now) and have gained over 2 million back since Obama took office. Try reading the actual data and articles from reliable sources, instead of just swallowing whole what Fox, McConnell, et al spoon feed you. They LIE.

Mitch McConnell is a sanctimonious joke. “We won’t raise taxes,” even though we’ve been fighting two wars on borrowed $$$ and they had no trouble running up trillions in red ink under good old George. Can you imagine what this economy would look like if there had been no TARP, and GM and Chrysler had been allowed to go out of business? Why does everyone complain when the economic consequences of a “free market” are bad (like the housing debacle and the unemployment numbers), we all complain? Isn’t a “free market” what everyone (most of all, McConnell and his tea party brethren) wants?

Hello America, July 12, 2011, now let me give you some basic math that everyone can understand, everyone except the Congress of the United States, it was said last night on Charlie Rose, he had a leading Harvard Economics Professor on, anyway, they made the statement that the U.S. pays $1 Billion dollars a day in interest alone on this large debt, I’m pretty sure that’s what they said, now lets think about that, if all 50 states in the Union contributed $1 Billion dollars to the Interest alone on this debt, it would last only 50 days, now think about it, they are asking each of the 10 counties in Rhode Island to contribute $100 Million dollars, just for the Interest on these loans, now there are 365 days in a year so it would take
6 x $100 Million dollars = $600 Million Dollars a year, for each county in the State of Rhode Island, to contribute in, to even pay on the Interest of their share of the Debt, now let me ask you, how close to that $600 Million do you think the average county in Rhode Island is? and then you will realize the absurdity of what the Washington Law makers are asking of Americans, ask Sarah Palin how much of the $600 Million can Wasilla contribute to the Federal Goverment? How many Salmon do you think Sarah will have to catch to make up $600 Million dollars? I don’t know, does Wasilla even have 600 Million Salmon swimming up the River every spring? I say the only reasonable course is for the U.S. to declare bankruptcy and default on these loans. sincerely Fezzy Bear

The Bush tax cuts saved over a gazillion jobs! In terms that Obama can understand that’s half a gazillion more than his stimulus saved. You do remember the stimulus the one that would keep unemployment from going above 8.2%

In my opinion, the deficit can be further cut by at least 2 trillion dollar just by strictly auditing all the public works contracts and budgets. Most of the fund is being misused or mishandled by the interested groups contractors and their associates. The large pay scales in almost all cities, counties, hospitals, police and fire departments, universities, schools, water districts and several other public works districts and their life long pension benefits is the major burden on our economy. Cutting loop holes and undue tax cuts of Bush era along with public employees pay scales, pension benefits, change in social security age to 67 years and raising contribution for medicare benefits by 5%; America can easily cut their income tax rate in half and also deficit in half too. Only we need our elected members should be fair, honest, visionary with national spirit. The cowards, who are fighting for the last few months for the millionaires and billionaires need to be weeded out.

Either way its quite possible that the GOP will shove the whole counrty over the abyss in the hope that they can win the 2012 election. That says to me that they are not ready for primetime players where public plocy is concerned

Obama was supposed to be our uniter, but he keeps pitting us against each other: rich vs poor, dems vs repubs. He says he cares for the poor, but he has ran out of ideas and just tax and tax and tax the supposed rich that makes $250k. He keeps forgetting these same people are the jobs provider. He paid our billions to his union buddies which was designed to come back to his campaign reelection via the union dues. I have never seen a more devious politician using the country’s wealth to his advantage. They blame Bush’s oil and Halliburton yet it has been 3 years they have not convicted anyone of any wrong doing, yet our gas is much higher now than when
Bush left. The democrats have completely fooled the people by repeating emotional issues such as them being for the poor. Why then during this hard times Nancy Pelosi who is a democrat increased her wealth by 67% in 2010? Obama keeps having weekly concerts at the white house inviting hollywood stars and black singers at our expense, keeps playing golf when he said he will not rest until we are out of this recession, and his family keeps going around the world then says we have to eat our peas now? He should lead by example, but no. He was just a phony from the very beginning. The liberal media dressed him up as competent and a uniter, and the people fell for it. And all they had was a TelePrompTer. And they were calling Palin a pig. You know they are liberals from the way they curse you with horrible words because they have no God in their hearts, and so the evil flows naturally out of them and they don’t even know it.

Im so disapointed in our goverment. They are elected to do what we the people want not what they want. I think everyone in the goverment should take a 10% pay cut. Cut all pork barral spending no matter who’s it is. Republican or dem.or teaparty. And if they don’t want to vote the way the people want them to vote them out.
