First Of all The republicans put forth a deal. It was wee will raise the debt cileing by 2.4 trillion if you cut 2.4 trillion and not rais taxes. But the democrats said know, what a shocker. Don’t you people get it the dems want to keep spending and not make hard decisions. Making hard decisions takes away a lot of entiltlements to a large base of the voters. And enough about bush, I was a realitor and my father is a relitor. The reason this country is in a down fall and the housing market is crashing is becasue of Clintons bill that said every american should be able to buy a home. So hence the banks were forced to give loans to people they knew could not afford it. The democrats will be the ruin of this country and untill you people relise this the better off we will. Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. The strong survive the stupid die off.

They (congress) got us into this mess. They spend our hard earned money so foolishly on things and special interests we (American people) don’t need, only to be used for their benefit, NOT ours and now all of these cut backs on things WE need and they don’t care about US, only themselves. They should get over themselves and do the right thing for the American people. What a bunch of clowns! Let them use their own money. Let them pay for their own health care. Their needs are paid for by us for the rest of their lives. Make them give up what they have. We should be allowed to vote and have a say on where our money is being spent.

To the poster(s) who said that politics is like WWE wresting I completely agree. Ever since Clinton, both political parties have been in the back pockets of Wall Street. Don’t believe me? Just look at the advisors Clinton, G.W.Bush Jr. & Obama have employed. They’re mostly from Goldman Sach or JP Morgan. That’s not by accident. It’s not by accident Wall Street ENGINEERED this financial collapse.
To those who say it’s all G.W. Bush’s fault I don’t agree. Don’t get me wrong, I despised the guy but I don’t like anymore than I do Bush. He’s equally at fault. During Obama’s campaign he promised to bring back all troops within a year. Well here we are and the troops are still in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq is still going on and he’s started wars in Libya, Syria & Egypt all against the approval of Congress which is unconstitutional. He should be impeached for that.
He promised to stop bowing down to lobbyists and most of his cabinet picks, if not all, are from major lobbyists.
Thanks to Obama the bankers received trillions in bailouts, most of which went to offshore bank and none to Main Street as loans to start new businesses.
The Bush & Obama era has witnessed the largest transfer of wealth the everyday American to the upper “elite.”. This means the destruction of the middle class as we know it. This is not a US phenomena, it is happening globally.
So Wall Street engineers the collapse, the Federal Reserve bails them out, gives the everyday American the bill in the form of higher taxes and finally institutes austerity on the country as a way of paying off the debt. That’s no different than a 3rd world country.
At least half of the $14.5 trillion in debt this nation owes is fraudulent banker bailout debt. Why should Americans have to pay that? There is one way the politicians can save this nation and that is by re-instating the ORIGINAL Glass Steagall Act of 1933 which will take the banker bailout portion of the debt off the burdens of Americans and right back on the shoulder of Wall Street.
If they do that we have a chance

Oh brother what a bunch of nonsense. The SS checks will be going out (there is supposed to be this thing called SS fund but other than that the government will be bringing in 200 billion next month alone.) And secondly, newsflash fearmongers, we have already lost of AAA rating. One rating agency dropped us already this week with Moody’s warning that we will be downgraded for having so much debt. Thanks Obama.

I would like to see all the politicans take a huge pay cut almost half of what they make now. Maybe they’ll have a better understanding of the American people and what it takes to get by. This should include paying for their own travel expenses, meals. They should not have any special accomodations, as the normal people don’t, we have to give a lot anymore just to be able to earn an income. I
I place this challenge on all policiticans.

They didnt even DO a budget when they were in power for 2 YEARS! If you ran a business like that you’d be lucky if you got 2 years before having to file chapter 11 and now here we are.

Compromise, yes, but fairly looking at all the true causes of this problem. They need to push out the debt limit, and start to make surgical changes from both ends, while working to keep the mainstream of this economy, the middle class on its feet, OR THEY CAN JUST TAKE A SLEDGEHAMMER, TO THE FOUNDATION OF THIS COUNTRY. I agree there are people who I see everyday that abuse the system from the bottom, while you have people at the top, like the oil cos. BLACKMAILING the economy, with higher oil prices if taxed on their billions. We have local government people being jailed, for accepting gifts, in exchange for contracts, while you have the big corporations giving millions to Republican congressmen to fight taxes on their billions. These billions are enhanced by replacing taxpaying consumers, with non-tax paying computers, and slave labor from 3rd world countrys, while they complain about entitlements to the people they threw out on the street. I think both parties need to start looking at their own backers, and do some thorough changes. Make the whining wealthy EARN their tax breaks, by actually hiring people, or paying into good health care. Get the alleged non-profit health care places to get honest about their profits, and have the Democrats start looking at where the enitilements are going. There are under, and unemployed, who are doing whatever they can to survive, and then there are people sitting around with their hands out. There are people who have worked their whole life, paying into social security, hoping to live a few years before they die, who will be lucky if their kids can bury them, while there are people at the top with UNGODLY amounts of money fighting to avoid taxes on their summer homes. THINK,THINK,THINK!!!
