SUCCAB–You raise an important aspect of military spending cuts. However, military spending cuts can be made without endangering the troops or weakening our technical superiority. We can cut spending on programs and equipment that the military leadership says are not needed. Those programs continue to be funded simply because they are pork for certain members of Congress. Spending could also be trimmed by a leaner and more carefully monitored bidding and contracting process that requires realistic bids (that are neither inflated nor unrealistically low). Members of the military industrial complex constantly run way over bid. This has to stop. Admittedly, some cost overruns are caused by the government changing specs, etc. mid project. but a lot results from unrealistically low bids. Contractors should be required to live up to their bids with the only exceptions being granted for government change orders. This would require a careful examination of bids for inflation of projected costs. Once a bid has been accepted and production has started or services are being rendered, careful quality monitoring by the government or an independent identity would be required to ensure that the contracted criteria are being met.

Stop whining about the military, it would be very very dangerous for us to think we will be safe if we cut spending to them because soon after the cuts your families will be in serious danger because we have dangerous enemies.

CUT, CAP AND BALANCE is what most responsible American households would have done. When we cannot pay our bills, what would we do??? Well at least the responsible ones. It was the only way other than EVERYONE in America paying equal taxes and I mean the poor, rich, and the families. They also need to make the government personel pay for their own retirement like everyone else. Discrimination throughout America is what is killing us. If your poor you dont pay taxes you make income, if you have children you dont pay taxes, you make income, If your middleclass and single you bend over every year and pay everyone elses taxes. This is a rotten system. ALLL AMERICANS NEED TO PAY TAXES and equally. Not 10% to 40% thats flat discrimination folks. WAKE UP.

Can we really blame the government for all those scammers and non working active citizens. No, we can blame parents for not kicking their lazy kids in the rear and making them work and be responsible. I think we can all agree spending needs massive cuts without cutting anyones paycheck. Key work “anyones paycheck”. This committee is a joke!! These guys have all signed a pledge with Grover norquist to not raise taxes. This group is going nowhere. The GOP doesn’t care about the country; they just want Obama to fail. If Obama promised to NOT raise taxes… and recind Obamacare… the unemployment rate would be down 2% by Christmas!!

I’m glad to see there will be at least one woman on the board–a Democrat of course. It would be great if there was more than one. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who Minority Leader Pelosi appoints.
