. . . and they still downgraded us. That’s how out-of-control our government and its debt is.

Clearly this will never happen as long as Progressives (in both parties) are in power. They need to be thrown out on the street and replaced with fiscal conservatives. Otherwise, we’re doomed.

You claim it is the dems fault as they control the senate and Pres. But all it takes is the cogress (repbubs) to stop working and blocking everything. The republicans refused to compromise on anything and this is the end result. It is time for the grown ups to get back to work. Does it really matter what the members of Congress or the Obama Administration say about who is at fault here? The S&P place the blame on the Republicons. Not the Tea Party, not the Dumbocrats, and not Independents. The Republicons.
The S&P Credit Rating Downgrade Report states on Page 4: “Compared with previous projections, our revised base case scenario now assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, due to expire by the end of 2012, remain in place. We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.”
And anyone who says different has not read the report.

Same crap as usual. The Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling without trying to get something out of it. The rich still have their loopholes and the U.S. now has a credit rating of AA!!! Good Lord! When are they going to get it…. it’s not Obama’s fault that this happened, it is their fault (REPUBS). From day one they were on a mission to make Obama look bad and they won’t give up until they do. They are disgusting and don’t deserve to be in public office. How much more disrespect with they show Obama and the citizens of the U.S.? I think its only going to get worst. SO DAMNED SAD!!!

This was PURELY due to Republican political posturing. I like how the Financial Times put it on August 3rd, just a couple of days after a lack-luster agreement was put in place by this congress:
“With such evidence of dysfunctional economic governance in the US, some countries are also worried about America’s ability to perform its critical role as the anchor of the global financial system. Since there is no other country to assume this role, a weaker core translates into greater fragility for the system as a whole and, therefore, a higher risk of gradual fragmentation.”
