Is That Nicotine Gum on Obama’s Desk?

ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf (@zbyronwolf) reports: These past few weeks, with hours of tense, closed-door negotiations to avert a U.S. government default must have been trying both for lawmakers and the president. For President Obama, with the presence of an avowed an unabashed smoker in the form of House Speaker John Boehner, it must have been tempting to President Obama to duck out for a smoke. It is not news that President Obama uses nicotine gum to overcome his long battle with addiction to tobacco. President Obama celebrated on year on the wagon, not smoking, with the aid of nicotine gum and celery sticks  in March. Read more about that here. But there is, in a White House photo released yesterday, some indication that he may still chew it nicotine gum. At least, next to his ipad, on an otherwise very clean desk, in a picture taken last Sunday, is what appears to be nicotine gum like nicorette, Politico's Josh Gerstein observed, in its trademark square plastic wrapper. Judge for yourself here, by the lower left corner of the ipad.
