"Rigorous scepticism"..."ready to question everything"? Lightbulb! It's called scientific methodology and it's how the theory of evolution was arrived at and by which it is sustained.
So follow the bouncing ball...rigorous scepticism undergirds evolution, but the same rigorous methods applied to campaign strategy tell you that it's intellectual product has no currency with voters, so sound reasoning (if you want to win the GOP nomination) dictates that you espouse creatonism ,which is a belief which is to say not subject to rigorous scepticism.)
Conclusion: In the Rebublican Universe, scientific method prevails if it helps win elections ,it's results should be dismissed as "just a theory" if it doesn't win elections and God is a hapless bystander being hit by the flying dung.
Who was it that said that the surest sign of a civilization in decline was the inability to discerne a palpable absurdity.

The methodolopgy used for campaigning is in flux and change. Educated voters who vote on things that really matter, rather than voting on party loyalties or race or other non-important issues, are wising up to the same old promises and rhetoric we are fed by politicians.
The Tea Party folks have woke America up. That was needed. They have made America aware of its fiscal posture and the precarious position America has been put in by the far left liberal agenda. The Democrats & the Tea Party have shown the nation juts how inflexible and uncooperative both gorups are. Both of their behaviors is unproductive and unacceptable and not the form of leadership to take Ameerica forward.
I think Perry is too far right, I also think Obama is too far left. Barring some unforseen miracle for Obama - the least dangerous candidate for our nation's future of these two, & most electible, will be Perry.
My hope is the 2012 election ends up with a real choice for America -- a strong centrist like Huntsman vs. an inflexible, far leftist like Obama.
I'm very certain who will win that race.
