ABC News' Mary Bruce (@marykbruce) reports:

President Obama launches his three-day, three-state Midwest bus tour, focused on jobs and the economy today.

First stop, Cannon Falls, Minn., where the president will hold a town hall meeting this afternoon.

According to the White House, the president will spend the next three days discussing "ways to grow the economy, strengthen the middle class and accelerate hiring in communities and towns across the nation and [will] hear directly from Americans."

Just two days after the Ames Straw Poll, the president will roll into Iowa for another town hall in Decorah later this afternoon.

Despite the stop in Iowa, the White House continues to assert that this is an official presidential trip and not a campaign event.
