The Presidential Planner: With Debt Crisis Averted, Obama Looks To Jobs

Aug 2, 2011 8:15am

ABC News’ Mary Bruce (@marykbruce) reports:

Today is the day – the deadline to raise the debt ceiling – but with the Budget Control Act expected to pass the Senate and avert default, the president will pivot to jobs.

This morning Obama will meet with the AFL-CIO Executive Committee at the White House to discuss economic growth and putting Americans back to work.

Also today, the president will meet with the crew of the Space Shuttle Endeavor and the U.S. Commander of the ISS Expedition 26.

Last night, Endeavor Commander Mark Kelly was at the Capitol as his wife Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., made her triumphant return to the House floor after recovering from an assassination attempt earlier this year.

Later today, the president will meet privately with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
