White House Declines Comment on Troy Davis Case

As the clock ticked down to Georgia’s execution of Troy Davis, the White House declined to comment.

“Dating back to his time in the Illinois State Senate, President Obama has worked to ensure accuracy and fairness in the criminal justice system – especially in capital punishment cases,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. “However, it is not appropriate for the President of the United States to weigh in on specific cases like this one, which is a state prosecution.”

It’s not appropriate for the President of the US to comment about the most high profile execution in a decade? I beg to differ. Your job is to be a leader, you don’t seem to be taking that job very seriously.

Come on people of course he is not commenting. Would any of you comment if you were Obama? You stand on thin ice as it is, you want to appease everyone, you don’t want it to appear as if you are on the side of a possible criminal, you don’t want anyone trying to paint you as the black guy looking out for the other black guy, etc. So, of course you won’t respond. And, you certainly won’t if you have no back bone.

“If there was one moment when Illinois’ death penalty began to die, it was on Feb. 5, 1999, when a man named Anthony Porter walked out of jail a free man.” (It wasn’t the question of morality but the question of accuracy that led state to abolish capital punishment)

Obama knows NOT to comment, he made his feelings well known by calling the police stupid once before and having to eat his words after that with a “beer summit”

When he comments on law and enforcements items, he looks like a militant angry black man
Best he keep his mouth shut

Are you kidding? African Americans LOVE getting harassed by the police! Especially when they’re entering their own homes. They LOVE it!

In the movies, its always the Governor who is pardoning a condemned criminal – not the President. Don’t you people know anything?

The conservative right of center should be estatic on Obama’s “non involvement” on this issue. Troy Davis execution will have the same affect that U.S. involvement in Lybia has had on the Black grassroot organizations. Many Black grassroots groups have become anti Obama. Clearly the Black vote is the tie breaker. Obama’s “no comment” may mean no re~election.

The conservative right has no logic and hypocritical morals.

The crazy part is the leader of this world didn’t want to comment but other leaders did, The Pope doesn’t have a say in state government but he spoke up.

We know enough to not say a thing on such minor issues…

Hilarious! If the President said anything at all you’d accuse him of not knowing the Constitution and prying into State issues. You’re dribbling out of both sides of your mouth!

Seven out of the twelve jurors were black. Two hours of deliberation – says a lot.

He couldn’t speak for a man losing his life, but he drank beer with an officer to sweep his friends’ mess under the rug. I appreciate our law enforcement(thank you for your protection),but this is a bad position President Obama has put himself in.
