Real mothers don't abandon their children for a year or more at a time. My husband is currently deployed and also misses his children terribly. I am a veteran. I left the army so I could be a proper wife and more importantly mother to my children. I left the army before starting a family because it was the right thing to do for my future children. Everyone can go on pretending that women can have it all. Women cannot maintain careers that take them away from family and expect that same family and more importantly the children won't pay the price. I didn't hear one of these women mention actual concern for the long term effects on the children. All I heard was how bad THEY felt. Women honorably serve our county everyday and for that I am truly greatful. Once you become a mother it would best serve your children as well as society to stay will them and raise them properly. This is sad. Not for those "poor" mothers, but for the children.

How nice of you to demoralize the fighting women of our country. everyone fighting has it hard, but you try to make it seem the woman aren't worthy of our compassion. I feel sorry for your husbancd and children.

I read this article and watched this video this morning. I am an military wife and my husband is currently deployed. We have 3 kids who were 5, 3, & 4 months old when he left.

This article came across that deployed mothers have it harder. I find that complete bull. I am sorry but my husband is an amazing dad. He misses our kids and they miss him so much. My now 4yo still cries daily for her dad and it has been 10 months. My 6yo thinks her dad is her hero and our 1yo knows daddy on the computer screen. My husband has those same fears that those woman have about if the kids especially our youngest will remember him god forbid anything happens. In the military it seems fathers cant talk about how much they miss there kids and how they are missing everything because they are guys and soldiers and should suck it up but woman can make it a big thing. There are THOUSANDS of fathers out there that have missed and will miss the birth of there baby(s). How many female soldiers can say that? NONE Female soldiers can get pregnant so they dont have to deploy, male soldiers can get there wife pregnant but they still have to deploy.
