More than two hundred years ago, George Washington said:"This Country must not have a permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world". Thinking about that profound statement, one must wonder about the circumstances and causes that lead the great statesman, and, the first President of the United States to reach such conclusion.
Obviosly, It is not an abdication of responsibility to the world, but being on equidistance from all the countries of the world. That by itself will lend legitimacy to any country of super power status which strifes to be a fair broker, and, a Peace Maker. Mr. Washington must have felt the depth of strife thats engrained in societies to advocate,"preserving Peace requires prepairing for war".
But, regardless of what said about todays wars, it is not to preserve Peace, but to affirm dominance, and, control natural resources. On any level of intelligence, one must realize that its impossible to devoid someone of his dignity and expect to succumb to your demands. Thusly, there is violence, and, consequently there will be bloodshed, and bloodshed never leads to Peace. At any circumstances, entering into peace agreement under duress, is like signing a pact with the "Devil" to grant him your soul.

@CONY007. Kudos to you for noting the poignant song "Silent Running." Interesting to see how much we have veered that way in the last 25 years. Of course problem for Romney is that independents, who will swing the election, are far less critical of Obama's foreign policy than his domestic policy. When my conservative brother noted that he could at least acknowledge that Obama hasn't been the foreign-policy disaster he and his ilk predicted, I realized that Obama had at least co-opted the supposed "strength" of the GOP. Ultimately though the economy will dictate this election, as it always does for the Presidency.

It is better to die standing than live on your knees--- Emiliano Zapata 1915

IKE said this on January 17th, 1961

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. Forget about Wall Street our real enemy is WIC. They see our lives as collateral damage, They destroy innocent kids on daily basis. You want a real cause to fight for. Remember Father Flannigans words a year before he died. WAR FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!! This is the only true cause. Don't fight for anything else or you will be sucked in. Religion, king, isms, flag, land, country, queen, gold, glory it is all BS. Fight for the kids!!!! That is the only true cause!!! Good Luck. Remember nonviolence is the only way. Listen to Silent Running and prepare yourself to stand up for the kids.
