It doesn't matter when McConnell said his only goal was to stop the re-election of this President and no republican disputed those intentions. If you republicans believe that should be the only goal of your side of the aisle you should just be honest and say so.

Making excuse for these idiots doesn't change the facts. Tell those Americans who are unemployed, under employed and afraid of losing their jobs what your intentions are and quit trying to fool them into thinking you’re doing something messing around with this debt and deficit issue. You know it's just an instrument to defeat President Obama.

Obama kicked the can down the road to keep votes, plain and simple.

wheresmymoney | November 22, 2011, 2:27 pm...................The Keystone XL Pipeline is an environmental disaster waiting to happen - mostly to indigenous populations whose land has already been stolen once. Obama can only prove how important the people and the country is to him by "not" allowing the project to go forward. Jobs or no jobs - we cannot continue to rape the planet and expect it to be in good condition for future generations.

MikeMo1947 | November 22, 2011, 1:05 pm........................I believe the ideological differences between our two parties are a direct reflection of the ideological differences in our society. They represent the views of the populations they represent. We have gun control vs no gun control; pro choice vs anti abortion; no taxes vs closing loopholes; no immigration vs a path to citizenship; no foreign aid vs disaster relief.................and it goes on and on. There's no compromising with each other on these boards, on the street, or in the local restaurant. Everything is "Extremely" this way or that way. How on earth do we expect them to compromise when we, as neighbors can't even compromise. I'm beginning to believe that someone has put something in the water to make us stupid.

And if the GOP is so great, WHY did they make such a mess when they were in for eight years?
Posted by: Barb | November 22, 2011, 2:22 pm 2:22 pm

You need to look at the numbers Barb. The "mess" really started gaining steam in 2007, once the Dems took over both the House and Senate.

Once again, McConnell did NOT say that the day after Obama took office.

Eric Cantor went to the White house on day three of President Obama's presidency. At the time, Obama and Democrats had total control of the White House, Senate and House. Cantor tried to share ideas with President Obama for stimulating the economy and creating jobs. When Cantor pushed for small business tax-cuts, President Obama said,

"Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won."
Instead of business tax cuts that would have actually stimulated the economy, we got the failed Porkulus bill that only stimulated unions and other democratic special interest groups.

That's your wonderful leader "working with" the other side.

President Obama is holding the republicans feet to the fire. His threatened veto, if they try to amend the sequestered cuts, won't allow them to squirm out of the mess they created.

I think in the long run he'll allow them some wiggle room because he knows these cuts (especially defense) will cost jobs. Many of the republicans have military bases in their districts who are already laying off civilians, as are many defense contractors in anticipation of these idiotic cuts.

The republicans created this mess with their thick headedness; now their trying to get out of the chaos they created and blame the President who has no control of Congress in the first place.

It is obvious that Obama said to the Democrats......"get the millionaire's tax.......or nothing"!

That's how Obama operates.......his way, or nothing.

That’s is why I favor the Dems more. Why the day after the election would Mitch McConnell come out saying he’s a one term president? That doesn’t show too much good will or willing to work together, it just shows he and the GOP do not care about this country. And I have seen far too many negative nasty posters on these boards who just chant along with with the GOP…

McConnell said that on Oct 25, 2010. But you just "chant along" with anything talking points media tells you to.

If Obama were putting country ahead of politics he would have approved the Keystone Pipeline, the one that had three years of study and a clean bill of health from his State Department. Over 20,000 direct jobs would have been created. This doesn't include indirect jobs.

But hey, he might lose some votes, so he will wait to decide on it until AFTER the next exlection.
