well searambler, we might not agree on a lot of things, but the refinery deal is
such a no-brainer, that it will never come about. To bad we both have different
opinions but can see something that makes so much sense, you have to wonder
why all those College educated Senators and congress members, for once do something
that would benefit everyone in this country. And they wonder why there is so much
anger in this country.

deadwrestler ——- The problem with the oil thing is, oil drilled in Alaska or Canada or even the Gulf does NOT automatically get used here in the USA as a final product (gasoline). It goes onto the world market like all the other oil. My understanding is, there are several states who oppose the pipeline because it could potentially contaminate their drinking water if something happens to the pipeline. A refinery near where they are drilling makes perfect sense to me, to alleviate those concerns…………..

searambler,No problem their, i am all for cutting subsidies to the oil companies and the faming
industry also. Furthermore all those people who don’t want the Keystone XlL pipeline
coming through there area should demand that a refinery is built up in North Dakota
where they are drilling now. That makes so much sense, you know it will never happen.
They would not be able to raise the price of gas every time a hurricane blows through the gulf. Politicians only worried about padding their own pockets with
cash. And that is both parties.

I said the exact same thing to a friend the other day. The price of gasoline is one of, if not THE, biggest impediments to our economic recovery out there today. IMO, of course. We subsidize Big Oil with billions in tax credits and deductions every year, and they respond by raking in tens of billions in record profits every year, while charging record prices for their product. The top five oil companies have collectively taken in over a trillion dollars in profit – PURE PROFIT – during just the last 10 years alone. The oil industry is the single most lucrative industry in the history of history. And our politicians continue to provide them this corporate welfare every year while simultaneously cutting social programs that help Americans survive. This kind of thing is what the OWS people are mad about………..

Has anyone been watching these debates and really think one of these candidates can run this country and represent America amongst the rest of the world.?So far, all decisions Obama made without Congress have been successful . Once Congress is included, it is a disaster.

No searambler, live in rural Illinois out in the corn fields, work as laborer in a mill, lower middle class and dropping as gasoline prices have cut into my living wage as never before. No public transportation out here, and all those windmills they built out in this area has not dropped my electric bill either. I cannot afford a new hybrid car, out here
if i had that kind of money i could payoff my house. Also I hunt deer for months of free meat. But persecuted yes, the laws are made with big cities in mind. I live in
fly over country, places most people want out of til they do not know what they are missing. Without people in these area’s the rest of the country does not eat.
cows,chickens,pigs and deer make for nice neighbors and we all have shotguns to
get rid of the dreaded coyotes or foxes that wander were they don’t belong. I am
not asking anyone to feel sorry for me, i am just asking them not to butt into my life.

I didn’t hear any objection to NASCAR in general and Richard Petty in particlar supporting the GOP. Now, the good Christian conservatives have nasty names for basketball players who support the re-election of the President and consider it dispicable that they do so. Now they have something else to hate: the NBA. I’m beginning to see that hatred is at the core of conservative ideology. But, they profess Christianity. Go figure !
