I’ll provide the bus fare.

2004: Under President Bush and a majority Republican Congress, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announces that it will require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, also known as the Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) “to increase their purchase of mortgages for low- and moderate-income families and underserved communities.” In order to meet these new requirements, the GSEs begin purchasing mortgage-backed securities made up of subprime loans.

Yet another reason why you don’t elect a law professor to be in charge of the world’s largest economy.

Better to have someone REALLY competent like the Republican businessman George Bush. Some success he was with the economy! It'll take us years to recover from his 'steady hand' on the economy. Disaster.

The President is doing everything he can to create jobs in this country. It’s almost impossible when you have to work with a republican House that doesn't care about anything except stopping his re-election. The republican theory of giving all the breaks to the rich and some will flow down to the middle class doesn't work. The last administration tried that and it failed. To create jobs, someone has to spend money; we can't rely on big business.

How did OWS cause the loss of jobs?

For one thing, any jobs created on construction projects are likely to be small in number, and many of those would likely go to illegal immigrants. Not a good use of tax dollars, under the current conditions.
tmferretti...you really think it will be the Republicans that keep Obama from being re-elected? Do you really believe we'd give him another four years to (try to) do more of the same. He's totally tone deaf and inept when it comes to matters of the economy. Don't raise taxes during a tough economy, he said at least twice last year. But in January of this year, all of a sudden, it makes sense to raise taxes. Speculate on alternative energy companies by providing hundreds of millions of our tax dollars and for what (votes, campaign cash)! Crony capitalism as bad as it gets. Did you hear the "occupy" folks have cause some business to drastically cut staffing? Nice job, right. Causing people who are actually willing to work to lose their jobs. Will the lapdog media outlets cover THIS aspect of the occupy tragedy? Clearly, they're staying away from labeling everyone as anti-Semitic (yet they painted the entire Tea Party as racist because of a few bad apples). Hmmmmm

I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work,” Obama said.

Now he is quoting God. And the press will give him a pass.
