Mitt Romney Criticizes Obama’s (Unplanned) Vacation
Mitt Romney has never been shy about his disdain for the President’s penchant for a good game of golf, but now Romney is criticizing the First Family’s Christmas vacation plans.
But there’s a catch: Despite what Romney may be saying, a 17-day Hawaiian vacation for the Obama’s isn’t actually on the books.
While Romney has spent the past few days criticizing the President for his winter vacation plans — appearing to refer to dates for the president’s vacation that were posted on the Drudge Report — no official schedule has been released by the White House.
What’s more, the President’s vacation plans in the past have been altered even after a schedule has been made public.
Additionally, President Obama has said publicly that if Congress isn’t in recess by the Christmas holiday everyone — himself included — will be in Washington, D.C.
“We’re going to keep pushing Congress to make this happen. Now is not the time to slam the brakes on the recovery… Right now it’s time to step on the gas. We need to get this done. And I expect that it’s going to get done before Congress leaves. Otherwise, Congress may not be leaving, and we can all spend Christmas here together,” said Obama.
But tonight, during a tele-town hall with Iowa voters, Romney criticized the president for his vacation plans: “I have to feel that this president has been a failure. The other day I understand that Chris Christie said that he was a bystander president. That he watches affairs and has not guided affairs. And in some respects, his idea of a ‘hands on’ approach to the economy is getting a grip on the golf club.”
Romney had already commented on the President’s winter vacation plans last Saturday during a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H.: “Seventeen days. Seventeen-day vacation. When you consider all the golf, all the vacations, a new 17-day vacation, I’m thinking of that old song back in the 1960s, remember that, the one that was called ‘My Boyfriend’s Back.’
“And they said in there, ‘my boyfriend’s back, he’s going to give you a permanent vacation,” said Romney, quoting the oldies band The Angels. “That’s what we’re going to give Barack Obama — a permanent vacation.”
As for Romney’s own holiday vacation plans?
Asked about the upcoming vacation season, Romney told reporters last weekend that his family had not put up Christmas lights yet because they aren’t sure where they’ll be later this month.
“We don’t know where we’re going to be for Christmas,” said Romney. “The options are New Hampshire, Iowa or Belmont, Massachusetts. And maybe some I haven’t thought of yet.”
The Romney campaign did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.

Obama deserves ANOTHER vacation. He just returned from Bali where he was “working” very hard to secure trade agreements. Bali. Trade. Yeah, right.

Romney didn’t have to go on vacation when he was governor of Massachusetts .
Heck, he was living at his vacation home 70% of the time in New Hampshire!

.
oBama has been trying to step on the gas, but the car won’t go. Little does he realize that this economy is a fine-tuned machine like a car with a manual transmission. oBama and his merry band of fellow travelers only know how to drive an automatic. They think you just jump in and step on the gas. They never learned how to drive a stick-shift…. they just sat around for years and talked about how cool it would be to take over the car, jump in, and step on the gas. Pathetic failures.

I don’t care who you are, Romney’s zing is pretty good.
IIf Obama was on vacation for the remainder of his term would we notice any difference?

Yeah, let’s feed the myth he lives on vacation. When it was the last one pulling that one. Now we’re going to put down Christmas plans and act like every year all President’s stay in the WH for Christmas. When I bet I can find proof of Bush in Texas every year.

I’m glad you told us he is leaving. Otherwise how would we know he is gone? Doesn’t take the Pres long to pack as he only has the one charcoal gray golf shirt. I also foresee him raking in those 4 and 5 foot presidential gimme putts too. Have fun Mr Pres the country will be better off without if only for 17 days.

I searched abcnews for Chris Christie and found no articles about him calling out the President as a bystander. Can we explain this?

maybe the vacationer and chief could take President Pelosi and VP Reid with him. That trio has done enough damage. Things go better when they are gone. He called republicans hypocrites and would have to stay over the holidays to hammer out the tax issue. What does he do, take 17 days off playing golf. Must not be a big issue to him. Who is the real hypocrite?

Romney is hilarious. While he was Gov of MA he was out of state frequently – pretty much every week of his tenure – and spent a lot of time at his NH lake house. But he justified all that by saying he was working even when he was out of state (he did a lot of his presidential prep work while he was governor).
He already ran an extremely deceptive TV ad in NH, and was outed for his aides taking all the electronic records of his administration when he left office so they couldn’t be found with the inevitable FOIA requests, and has complained that criticism of both things were unjustified. Now he’s criticizing Obama for a vacation that hasn’t been planned.
Get ready folks – this is a guy with no moral compass. He’s already lowered the bar for campaign ethics – what will happen if he gets the nomination?

MARIA F :You don’t like Romney, do you, but you’re tickled pink over Pres.Obama, Romney did not tell the state legislature that they have to stay, and then left, but Pres.Obama tells everyone you stay I’m going on vacation. whats wrong with a one week vacation not a almost 3 week of vacation in the sun playing golf? How much does this little vacation cost? Can you take off 3 weeks for a vacation? Does the government pick up your vacation expense?
