Newt Gingrich Presses Ron Paul to Explain Racist Newsletters

Newt Gingrich on Friday challenged GOP rival Ron Paul to explain more than a decade’s worth of incendiary newsletters that he has disavowed.
The newsletters contain bigotry against black, Jews, and gays and an obsession with conspiracies.
“These things are really nasty, and he didn’t know about it, wasn’t aware of it,” said Gingrich adding “But he’s sufficiently ready to be president? It strikes me it raises some fundamental questions about him.”
Ron Paul has tried since 2001 to disassociate himself from the newsletters which starting in 1985 bore the name “Ron Paul Investment Letter”, “Ron Paul Survival Report,” and the “Ron Paul Political Report.”
Paul this week told ABC News’ Jon Karl that he “disavowed those messages” and added that he was practicing medicine at the time and that other people wrote part of the letters for him.
He even walked out of an interview on CNN on Wednesday claiming that he didn’t write the newsletters.
But Paul has indicated that he knew of the newsletters as far back as 1995 and even vouched for the accuracy and admitted writing at least some of the passages in 1996.
During a bruising 1996 Congressional campaign, Paul’s Democratic opponent Charles “lefty” Morris surfaced a 1992 newsletter which stated that 95 percent of black men in Washington “are criminal or entirely criminal.”
Paul told the Dallas Morning News in 1996 that he was being taken out of context and the columns should be read in their entirety.
The 1992 newsletter also stated that “If you have ever been robbed by a black teenage male, you know how unbelievably fleet of foot they can be.”
Paul did not deny to Dallas paper that he made the statement about the swiftness of black men.
“If you try to catch someone that has stolen a purse from you, there is no chance to catch them,” Paul said.
Paul again vouched for a 1993 edition of the “Ron Paul Survival Report” addressed to “Dear Frightened American” warns of a “national emergency” when the government will close all banks and seize accounts to pay off debts, particularly for the war on drugs.”
According to The Austin American Statesman, the newsletter went on to urge readers to buy foreign passports to better hide their assets from the federal government.
Paul countered at the time to the San Antonio Express-News that he has given readers of his newsletters legal and investment and personal security advice for some time.
“For Lefty to question the right of Americans to provide for their safety from terrorists and for financial security through legal means tells you where Lefty is coming from,” Paul told the San Antonio Express-News.
Paul again in 1996 acknowledged that he wrote a 1992 newsletter that calls the late Barbara Jordan, the first black woman elected from the south to the U.S. House, a “fraud” and an “empress without clothes.”
Paul told the Austin American Statesman paper he was contrasting Jordan’s political views with his own.
“The causes she so strongly advocated were for more government, more and more regulations and more and more taxes,” said Paul.
It wasn’t until 2001 that Paul began to deny that the words in the newsletters weren’t his, telling the Texas Monthly that others had written it because it was “too confusing.”
“I could never say this in the campaign, but those words weren’t really written by me,” Paul said.
“It wasn’t my language at all. Other people help me with my newsletter as I travel around.”

So … Newt wants to bring back the Lincoln-Douglas debates … and now wants to paint Ron Paul as some kind of racist?
Is there something you were particularly fond of Newt? Was it Abraham Lincoln’s great speech?
Ok, Newt, Mr. Brillant Historian and Mr. Enlightened Genius, let’s go and re-visit those Lincoln-Douglas debates that make you so misty-eyed:
“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races — that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.”
— Abraham Lincoln (Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston, Illinois, September 18, 1858; The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, pp. 145–146.)

…..and you (Newt) aren’t organized enough to get yourself on the Virginia ballot? “but [you're] sufficiently ready to be president?”

The Press continue to barrage Dr. Paul and the history lesson of the newsletters. Main Stream Media must post these old news articles as often as possible to continue the attempt to pull Dr. Paul’s popularity down. How little they understand the character of Dr. Paul as he is fringe because all the others have NO Integrity, they expect the same here. They won’t find it. Why is it they do not discuss the 80 or so ethical violations that Newt was found guilty on and asked to step down as the Speaker of the House? Do they prefer a liar, cheater President? Throughout the debates, every candidate except Dr. Paul, has spoken of more war in the east. We can not afford that. We have no real threat here from there and Israel has stated that they can defend themselves. Lets get our Nation back on Constitutional track.

Ron Paul was publishing opinion and economic newsletters
and that perhaps 4-5 of them had some bigoted passages.
That is a little different than the libelous claim that he was publishing racist newsletters for 10 years.
Check with your editor and see if those two claims mean the same thing.
Then issue your correction and apology

One thing is certain, Ron Paul will come in ahead of both Gingrich and Perry in Virgina. Gingrich, who lives in McLean, Virgina can’t even properly manage to get on the ballot, and that conceited wind-bag wants to run the country?
Frankly, I’ve never seen fielded by the Republican party such a sorry bunch of candidates. I don’t count Paul as a Republican, because he’s really a libertarian like Gary Johnson. Ron Paul, including all his imperfections, is the better man out of all the other Republican candidates. The Neocon welfare-warfare machine will come down on Ron Paul with both feet if he wins Iowa and poses a threat in New Hampshire.
All of you RP supporters better be ready for the nastiest fight that you’ve ever been in.

NAACP President: Ron Paul Is Not A Racist
Linder says Paul being smeared because he is a threat to the establishment
Paul Joseph Watson
Sunday, January 13, 2008
Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder, who has known Ron Paul for 20 years, unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts, and said the reason for him being attacked was that he was a threat to the establishment.
“Knowing Ron Paul’s intent, I think he is trying to improve this country but I think also, when you talk about the Constitution and you constantly criticize the federal government versus state I think a lot of folks are going to misconstrue that….so I think it’s very easy for folks who want to to take his position out of context and that’s what I’m hearing,” said Linder.
“Knowing Ron Paul and having talked to him, I think he’s a very fair guy I just think that a lot of folks do not understand the Libertarian platform,” he added.
Asked directly if Ron Paul was a racist, Linder responded “No I don’t,” adding that he had heard Ron Paul speak out about police repression of black communities and mandatory minimum sentences on many occasions.
Dr. Paul has also publicly praised Martin Luther King as his hero on many occasions spanning back 20 years.
“I’ve read Ron Paul’s whole philosophy, I also understand what he’s saying from a political standpoint and why people are attacking him,” said Linder.
“If you scare the folks that have the money, they’re going to attack you and they’re going to take it out of context,” he added.
“What he’s saying is really really threatening the powers that be and that’s what they fear,” concluded the NAACP President.

Dr.Paul has answered all allegations in regards to these news letters multiple times, he did not write them nor agrees with them and did not read over these mailers for over a decade after they had been published. To bear in mind, Dr.Paul was running a medical practice at the time in which many of his patients where pregnent women. The most you could press on Ron Paul for these news letters was that they where allowed out without his having overviewed them first, basicly, its hard to be a good doctor and publisher at the same time.
Posted by: CLEACH | December 24, 2011, 9:24 am 9:24 am
I think Newt needs to answer for his own multiple transgressions…things he actually did. Ron Paul didn’t write those newsletters. Dr. Paul wasn’t even in politics at the time; he was back delivering babies at his medical practice. Keep in mind that these letters were published before the internet. It is not unreasonable that Dr. Paul had no idea about these newsletters. We take the internet far too much for granted. In spite of this, Ron Paul has addressed these letters many times before. The media (and Newt) is only trying to deflect from the important and relevant issues as Ron Paul is winning. I hope people are smarter than the media gives them credit for.
Posted by: OldeGuard | December 24, 2011, 9:24 am 9:24 am
Nice hit piece, Jason. Educated voters can research Dr. Paul and draw their own conclusions, as these letters were debunked in the ’08 campaign. The more the media shills smear, the more Dr. Paul rises in the polls. Newt’s book tour will be an afterthought a month from now. Bloomberg had an very informative article yesterday on Newt and Mitt’s security advisers with ties to billions in government contracts. Do you believe voters would be interested?
Posted by: He_Scores | December 24, 2011, 9:26 am 9:26 am
The race card continues to be the last defense of scoundrels.
Besides, if Newt wants to talk about bigots, he should start including religious bigots. After all, we didn’t free the slaves until the civil war but religious discrimination was banned in the Constitution. That might get a little awkward though, since nations like Iran and Israel are founded on it. If he wants to stand up for the principles that made this country great, he can’t pick the ones that are politically convenient at the moment. His statements about the Palestinians become a particularly awkward once you realize that they apply to us as well. We are the ultimate “invented people” but I think we are entitled to call ourselves a Nation.

@FRED ” How little they understand the character of Dr. Paul as he is fringe because all the others have NO Integrity, they expect the same here.”
Ron Paul is now trying to distance himself from the newsletters that bear his name. How is that displaying integrity? He owned those words in the past when it was beneficial for him to do so. Integrity demands that he own them now, when it is not.

I’ve actually seen a black kid steal some woman’s purse… and he was pretty fleet footed!!
but seriously, their ideas turned out to be very main-stream, just ahead of their time. nearly all of the investment ideas they talked about back then are regularly talked about today. many believe fiat money will be printed down to worthlessness, rendering physical gold, or derivatives therof, the means of exchange (ie. ‘money’).
be certain that Ron Paul does not believe all blacks are criminals. if he did, he would not employ a black guy in a prominant position on his campaign staff. truly, I am amazed at the traction this 20 year old story is getting. oh, and btw, we just passed 100% debt to gdp (not including social security and medicaid/medicare) — for all who are actually worried about our real problems today.. which, seemingly, are not many journalists..

The latest CNN poll released Tuesday finds that Congressman Paul scores highest amongst minorities when matched up against Barack Obama in a hypothetical election head to head.
Paul scores 25% of the vote amongst non-whites, whereas Romney polls at 20% and Gingrich gets 15%.
NAACP President Nelson Linder, who has known Ron Paul for 20-years, unequivocally dismissed charges that Ron Paul is a racist in the light of the recent smear attempts, and said the reason for him being attacked was that he was a threat to the establishment.
So much for the “racist” claim.

If Ron Paul is racist, anti-Israel, and anti-gay, then why did he vote for MLK day, vote against condemning Israel for bombing Iraq’s nuclear facility (going against his party and the president himself), and vote for repealing DADT? These are actions not consistent with the charges.

Boy, you guys are really pulling out the stops here. The article purports to be about Gingrich attacking Paul on Newsletters, then it goes on to give its own detail on them. That detail, of course, is misleading. Yes, Paul acknowledged and has always acknowledged his knowledge of the newsletters. What he does not and never did acknowledge was knowledge of some of the articles that had such inflammatory language. Paul did not write every article in these newsletters, it would be ridiculous to assume he did. Some of it he wrote and some of it was written by staff members. He has been consistent on this from the day it all surfaced.
I won’t blame the media for bringing all this up, it is their job to expose these things, we want a free press to examine candidates and report on their shortcomings. The idea of a free press is as constitutional as it gets. I don’t expect the media to be entirely accurate about it either, they sell papers by sensationalizing the news just a touch.
What does frost me is that when Ron Paul gets to the top of the polls, you guys rehash this stuff to see how much trouble you can make. We all have known about these articles for years. On the other hand, when Gingrich was at the top of the polls, there was nary a mention of his $300,000 in ethics violations as speaker of the house or the circumstances that surrounded his resigning from that position. That is old news too, so the press chose not to hash it out again. Why is the standard so different for Ron Paul? Why are you guys so afraid of an honest politician?

For all of you who claim that the Paul letters do not exist, or that only “very few” contained bigoted remarks, you can easily find 50 of them on the Internet (if you truly are interested) and all 50 contain spurious remarks. As far as anyone being “afraid” of candidate Paul, he will do well in Iowa where his advocates have worked hardest and where the caucus turned out 4% of eligible voters in 2008. Don’t expect him to show well anywhere else and Republicans as a whole do NOT embrace people who run as Republicans who are definitely NOT!
Posted by: Dingbat36 | December 24, 2011, 10:07 am 10:07 am
People are understandably skeptical about the fact that Paul didn’t know about the racial and anti-gay passages in a handful of letters, but I think the most damning indictment against that was from Eric Dondero himself, former staffer who would like to destroy Ron Paul. He said that Paul’s contact with the newsletters was in the form of writing on notepads while travelling from this event to that event. It was then given to one of two people for transcription, then typed, then sent to layout and editing, then to the printer, then mailed. That’s it. This from a guy who would like to torpedo Ron Paul.
Posted by: Woody | December 24, 2011, 10:09 am 10:09 am
What does this say about Ron Paul’s judgment? He allows these people to print such trash under his name. How did that happen? Who wrote for him? Are these the kind of people with whom he chooses to associate?
He has NEVER named who wrote the articles. So, when his defenders say that he has answered these questions previously, they are wrong.
Posted by: CharlesMJ | December 24, 2011, 10:20 am 10:20 am
Many blacks including NAACP leader Nelson Linder have personally come out in defense of Ron Paul on these trumped up racist attacks, but lets not let facts get in the way of Jason and the fraudulent media. Ron Paul hasn’t been ‘trying since 2001 to disassociate himself’ from those remarks he never made. On the contrary he has disavowed those comments and clearly stated he didnt write them. The only ones ‘trying’ are you and the other prostituted media schills in continually trying to associate those lies with RP. I guess it must be a new challenge for you to have to write about someone with honesty and integrity, being so tied with those dc insiders. Re: the interview, RP answered the reporter’s questions several times, then ended the interview. He didn’t walk out or ‘storm out’ as some headlines claim if you watch the video. by the way, that reporter’s husband is a lobbyist for the military industrial complex (oops another fact you conveniently chose to omit or did you even know that).
Jason, i find it amusing how you interchange sentences in your article from different points in time trying to mislead the reader. You remind me of the little con-artist on the street with the 3 cups and the rock: guess which cup the rock is under?
To Everyone: the ones attacking Ron Paul are the ones with the most to lose: cheap money and easy credit from the Federal Reserve. Remember the old saying: ‘just follow the money’. look at the big advertisers you see in all of the media (print, tv, web) then read the limited audit of the Fed Reserve released in July of this year, and you’ll see the pattern folks. in the meantime they are ‘playing’ the ignorant public with invented racism attacks. Plus, without the Fed’s printing machine, poor Jason would have to get a real job.
Wake up America, a declining dollar, a perpetual warfare and welfare state is ruining this country and killing the middle-cla ss. The fact is Ron Paul is the only candidate out there trying to change this country’s direction for the good for everyone from all races.

Professional writers work as ghost writers in order to write or create books, articles, reports, stories and more for other people. A ghost writer may be hired to turn an outline into a book or a story idea into a short story. They are paid for their time and efforts, but are uncredited for the writing.
While celebrity ghost writers may get some credit for their work with an appellation of ‘with’ or ‘as told to,’ most ghost writers are unacknowledged contributors to the work. In those cases, the client or publisher will require a non-disclosure agreement. In the non-disclosure, the writer must agree to never take credit for their work or reveal the fact he or she participated in the project. These non-disclosure agreements are binding and may result in potential lawsuits, loss of credibility and income.
A ghost writer is one of the least appreciated areas of work for writers. Consider for a moment some of the greatest speeches in history. The authors of those speeches are forgotten; it is the speech and the person who delivers it who is remembered. ( or the person whose newsletter
the article appeared in ).
Oversight neglect ? Yes.
Racist ? No.

“Libertarianism is the enemy of all racism, because racism is a collectivist idea that you put people in categories. You say, well blacks belong here, and whites here, and women here and we don’t see people in forms..or gays. You don’t have rights because your gays, or women or minorities, you have rights because you’re an individual. So we see people strictly as individuals. We get these individuals in a natural way. So it’s exactly opposite of all collectivism and it’s absolutely anti-racism because we don’t see it in those terms. ”

If someone publishes an article on a website in today’s age, does that make the website owner completely representative of those beliefs? No, it doesn’t. Ron Paul has explained this a million times, I think Paul should request that Gingrich learn to read, or use that $1.6 million in taxpayer money for either a tutor, or to hire someone to read it all for him.
Perhaps if Gingrich would have hired someone to interpret his own vows to the most important person in Gingrich’s life, that person would have stayed with him. You can’t trust what comes out of Gingrich’s mouth, but Ron Paul is called the most honest person in Washington. Gingrich, Mccain, and Dick Cheney are a few. This vote took place over a decade before the ‘racist newsletters’ came out. Shouldn’t people like Newt Gingrich be considered racists instead of Dr Ron Paul? LOL! “You have 43% black teenage unemployment.”

Why waste any time showing you anything that differs from your pre-conceived opinion about everything. If you were really curious you would have already done the research and found all the nice things that Rev Wright had to say. But, seeing as how you are of the left-wing persuasion, you would probably agree with all that Rev. Wright rants about.

I love how the media is up in arms over a newsletter that contained content Paul has clearly stated he didn’t write and doesn’t agree with.
Instead of worrying about this garbage, maybe we should talk about how Newt is already planning his battle attack on Iran over their supposed nuclear weapon they’re building.
Apparently a newsletter is more interesting than plans of starting an unprovoked war with Iran.

John Huntsman is the only one of the whole bunch that doesn’t seem like he’s brain dead. But you all don’t want to listen to what he has to say. Your loss. Newt not only failed to get his name on the Virginia ballot (13 electoral votes) but he failed to get his name on the ballot in Missouri too (10 electoral votes) because he claims “Missouri isn’t important”. The cost of getting on the ballot in Missouri is a whopping $1000. It’s not like it’s going to break his bank account. So he just blew off 23 electoral votes.

Or tell us why FDR is his favorite president of the 20th century. Really! What about Reagan?
Or, why he proposed in 2008 (in his book REAL CHANGE) that the United States should look to the political changes in Ireland that had created such a “strong” economy which may become the strongest in Europe!!!

They might not be politically incorrect now but it is every americans right to have free speech. You cannot take that away from anybody and after time they grow and learn that everyone is the same.
After you turn 50 you will learn all people have at least one bad trait that you do not like. Welcome to america.
The real issue is the econony and jobs do not be deflected from the real issues. If a person can fix the jobs problem I do not care if he is the grand wizard of the KKK at least all people would be able to find a job and feed their families.

I’m more worried about the problem of special interest influence than racism. For example, the banking deregulation that led to our current economic hardships was caused by lobbying, not by racism. I’m selfish and desperate enough to worry about what’s happening right now economically.
We need candidates who refrain from accepting special interest money (and other forms of influence). Many voters are fed up with the way that such influence has contributed to the bad policy-making that has harmed them.
Most voters would not vote for a candidate who had been convicted of bribery, no matter how “electable” he/she is or what his/her policy positions are. So why vote for any candidate who accepts legal bribes in the form of special interest money?
Voters don’t have to wait for Congress to change the campaign finance system. They can simply refuse to vote for any candidate backed by big money. That denies power to the source of that money, bypassing the need for reform (and the lobbyists who would stop that reform because their jobs would be threatened).
There are some politicians who take very little money from any sources except individuals (in other words, they are not indebted to special interests). Ron Paul reputedly is such a politician.
For the purpose of appearing “electable” while running for President, Ron Paul has exhibited lousy judgment by pandering to racists. This makes me wish we had a better visible candidate who doesn’t take influence money. Until I see such a person, I’ll continue to support Paul.
Don’t worry about Ron Paul’s weird ideas. Congress will limit Dr. Paul from doing anything dangerous as President. As President, he would not write laws; Congress does that. He does get to choose nominees for his Cabinet, but the Senate must approve them. He will use his threat of veto power to reduce the scale of legislation and government.
Maybe the media aren’t conspiring to dismiss Ron Paul. Maybe the media decision makers just assume his views are too radical and that his lack of wealthy supporters means he has no chance. I assume he can’t afford big advertising buys from the major media, because he doesn’t accept the influence of powerful interests!
In the event that no influence-free candidate like Paul wins the primary for either major party, my strategy would require voting for neither Democrats nor Republicans. Other parties’ candidates still appear on ballots. It does not matter which candidate, because that candidate will not win the election this time around. It’s OK to vote for a goofball or weirdo.
If more people start voting for those outside party weirdos you see on ballots, it becomes more likely that sensible independent candidates or even third parties will emerge in various elections. Then we can vote for those people. Also, that will pressure the two main political parties to adapt to voter preferences more than big campaign donors would like.
That third party strategy has a risk of splitting the liberal vote between two candidates (as happened with Ralph Nader) or the conservative vote between two candidates (as happened with Ross Perot). The best third party candidate would be an “electable” centrist who can steal votes equally from both parties.
Lack of change results from almost everyone voting for either Democrat or Republican mainstream candidates. Why do we just jump back and forth, voting one or the other into office? By now it’s clear that that won’t change anything.
Why should we forget about the past harm they’ve done? That harm was not accidental; it was the result of both responding to lobbying and acting based on party ideology. We should assume that politicians of both parties will repeat some of their past harmful actions.
Some voters were seduced by Obama’s charisma or saw his election as a chance to break down a racial barrier; they did not consider that he is just as compromised by special interests as previous candidates were.
And enough people voted for Republicans in 2010 to give them a House majority, while we were still suffering from the economic consequences of policies pushed by Republicans. We got rid of them only two years before that. What about Republicans had changed in two years, that we should trust them? Nothing. Their bad deeds merit their permanent banishment from public office, unless they stop taking special interest money.

Ron Paul stated many times that he did not write these remarks nor approve of them, and found out about them later on. He disavows them and everyone that knows him over the years can testify to his beliefs, and these do not include discrimination and racism. Ron Paul is not avoiding the issue either (like Cain) or making up excuses. In fact, these remarks are 20 to 30 years old………so the whole episode is ridiculous. Ron Paul is a man of great integrity and honesty; the other candidates cannot compare themselves to his record.

There is no mystery here. No “offensive” comments appeared in the newsletters prior to 1988 when Ron Paul was the editor, in May 1988 Ron Paul was still the publisher but Lew Rockwell became the editor and even if describing the newsletters as entirelly racist is exagerated, sometimes “insensitive” material appeared when Paul was out of congress. And as a coincidence all these attacks stopped in 1994. But the couple of controversial statements appeared mostly between 1990 and 1993, the Martin Luther King day, for which Paul had voted for in 1979, became the “Hate Whitey day” and so on.

Yes, Blacks run faster on average (check the winners of the World championship).
Yes, Blacks commit more crimes than Whites.
And Whites commit more crimes than Asians. So what? Is this a secret?
Why people don’t really want to discuss what was in those newspapers and figure out if Ron Paul told the truth or not. Factual correctness is the most important thing.

We already have a president in office that went to a church that preaches racial hate for 20 years of his life ….he still was elected though. Fact of the matter Paul still has an amazing record overall one mistake vs. many past mistakes (more like lies) of the other people running for office. After getting to know Paul and listening to many of his speeches have made me think of people more as individuals and not part of a race or group. Same thing MLK was saying many years ago. Yet we still have many that still thinking of people as groups and the media promotes that line of thinking still till this day.

I have learned to distrust hit pieces by Jason M. Volack on the topic of Ron Paul. Volack clearly has an ax to grind because he disagrees with Paul’s foreign and domestic policies and will go to any length to attack him. Specifically I dispute that Paul has ever admitted writing the racially charged passages in the newsletter. I recommend Volack offer some evidence backing up his claims because just his word is not enough.
Paul has many people of color, gays, and Jews among his supporters who appreciate his strong defense of individual rights and his non-interventionist foreign policy. He decries the inequity of sentencing for people of color and wants to end federal authority in drug enforcement that has resulted in so many minorities locked away in prison while white suspects often escape prosecution.

My guess is Murray N. Rothbard was the author of those letters RP’s name has been assigned to. Newsletter turned over to Rockwell while RP was back in practice. Is RP a racist? Probably no more so then Obama, or any other candidate.
Anyway, its largely doubtful that decades old letters will end up mattering. Bbut I don’t care about his personal quirks anyway. Its his policies that matter. I’m not overly a big fan but i’ve come to understand that if the GOP wants to win this next time around, it must embrace the excitment within the grass roots movement. Mitt and Newt don’t have it. RP does. Its that simple if the GOP wants to win.
To my ABO friends, I simply point out you’ll have to wait a few more years before bombing Iran. I know, we shouldn’t recognize them as a country. I know, we should wipe them off the face of the planet. You’re just going to have to wait another 4 years. Either via Obama or Paul. That’s where you’re stuck.

“The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims.
Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity. In a free market, businesses that discriminate lose customers, goodwill, and valuable employees- while rational businesses flourish by choosing the most qualified employees and selling to all willing buyers. More importantly, in a free society every citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than developing a group or victim mentality.
This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Rather than looking to government to correct what is essentially a sin of the heart, we should understand that reducing racism requires a shift from group thinking to an emphasis on individualism.”
-Ron Paul, “What Really Divides Us”, December 23, 2002

Ron Paul, voted for the Martin Luther King Holiday, delivered black children in Texas when the state was still segregated, and supports the removal of drug laws that discriminate against blacks.
To say that he is racist, is misleading and this is nothing but a fallacy attack, also known as, AD HOMINEM.
Stick to the issues, please.

Are you serious, ABC? This is probably the most blatant attack on Ron Paul over the newsletter printed over 20 years ago, that he had not read until 10 years after they were published and has already disavowed.
