POTUS has Coffee with Progressive Media Stars

An all-star list of progressive and liberal media folks came to the White House today to chat with President Obama over coffee in the Roosevelt Room.

The group chatted with the president about economic messaging, his agenda for 2012, the various campaign arguments against different GOP candidates, the desire among some Democrats for him to highlight his foreign policy accomplishments, fighting corporate influence and the “crappiness” of the Senate filibuster , as one attendee put it.

Those there included the Washington Post‘s Ezra Klein and Greg Sargent, MSNBC anchors Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, and Chris Hayes, the Nation’s editor and publisher Katrina vanden Heuvel, the New York Times‘ Frank Bruni, and stars of the interwebs Arianna Huffington, Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo, Faiz Shakir of ThinkProgress and Joy Reid of The Reid Report.

So now you KNOW they’ll be fair, right?

Right?

Huh…

Journalism is such a sham. Jake Tapper is the ONLY guy I know who’s UN-bIased and calls them ALL on the carpet. ONE HONEST GUY. May Edward R. Murrow rest in peace.

Did the WH or the guests portray it as a meeting with liberals/progressives?

Time to get everyone on board with the new narrative for the next biggest con job on America.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOOD MEN AND WOMEN TO COME TO THE AID OF THERE COUNTRY! HONORABLE AMERICANS VOTE THEM ALL OUT!

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone over there has it figured out. We have a lot of work to do.

When are these liberal biased media going to think for themselves and report the news in a fair and balanced manner? All we hear from most of ABC, CBS and all of NBC is the news slant that this corrupt Obama administration wants to feed them and it is disheartening to see they are actually gullible enough to believe what they are being spoon feed. A group like congress or our judiciary or executive branch can have historically low approval, an individual VOTED into congress like the 60 + conservatives have high approval ratings individually. Congress also included the Senate which has a very low approval rating, should we apply your same liberal logic to that? We now POTUS was there, but more importantly was TOTUS there? POTUS had to use TOTUS to talk to a bunch of 6th graders, so this was about the same level of crowd here, so I’m sure TOTUS had to have been there.

Now if Obama would make the Reverend Wright his Press Secretary, and let Carney get a long, deserved rest from speaking non-contemporaneously, that would be like our own little Pravda …..will this guy never give us a break????????

If YOU voted for Obama YOU are as much a part of the catastrophe as he is. If you continue to support this, the laziest man ever to hold this office, you deserve to be mocked, ridiculed, laughed at in public and forced to carry a sign on your forehead identifying you as the culprit to the crime being committed against Americans

“POTUS has Coffee with Progressive Media Stars”
.
First order of business…. not a word about Holder and our Fast & Furious scheme. Everything was going swell in our plan to funnel weapons to Mexican narco-terrorists and then blame the mayhem on U.S. gun stores. But somewhere along the way, one of these gun dealers totally ruined our plot by recording conversations with ATF agents who were ordering them to sell these weapons in knowing violation of current laws.

The educated imbeciles in leftist media fail to grasp the concept and the history of the useful idiot — once they facilitate the delivery of totalitarian power to a Dear Leader, the useful idiots are rewarded by being the first wave of mass murder purges in order to be replaced by hand-picked loyalist propagandists.

I find it ironic he chose a room named by after progressive president as the place to meet. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to hear the liberal bias that they conversed with each other.

Posted by: Frank | December 20, 2011, 12:04 pm 12:04 pm

I wonder if they invited Ed Henry or anyone else from Fox? OK, I’m being facetious. Of course, Barry invited them. Right?

Posted by: Atom&Yves | December 20, 2011, 12:05 pm 12:05 pm

The question is, who looks worse, the president for being shown publicly to associate with these buffoons, or the buffoons for being shown to suck up to such a disaster of a chief executive?

It’s a trick question: MSNBC, The Nation, TPM et al. have about 6 regular viewers/readers/constituents. (Statistically) no none cares.

Posted by: CJSimones | December 20, 2011, 12:11 pm 12:11 pm

Such fun to be President! You get to hang with all the kewl kids.

Posted by: kishke | December 20, 2011, 12:31 pm 12:31 pm

Remember, not too long ago, there was an attempt by the administration to banish Fox News – for THEIR bias!

Posted by: NickPro | December 20, 2011, 12:35 pm 12:35 pm

Honestly, Fox News flubs the truth, a lot. They play fast and loose with the facts, and they are extremely bias. But SO WHAT? Obama has everyone but Fox News in his corner, so why shouldn’t Republicans fight fire with fire through Fox News?

Posted by: Alex | December 20, 2011, 12:38 pm 12:38 pm

Alex – so MSNBC is not ‘extremely bias?’ Rachel? Ed? Chris? Keith? Oh, I forgot – they generate light, not heat (LOL). By the way, ask Michelle Malkin to detail how MSNBC plays fast and loose with their reporting.

Posted by: NickPro | December 20, 2011, 12:54 pm 12:54 pm

And this is news why? Is this the first time this has happened? What if the President invited the media to interview cabinet officials and broadcast the administration’s message directly to the public, just before an election. Already happened. Bush did it 2002 and 2006.

2006 -Two weeks before a pivotal election, the Bush administration brought some of the Republican Party’s conservative base to its front yard Tuesday by inviting talk radio hosts to broadcast from the North Lawn of the White House.

Posted by: Pat | December 20, 2011, 1:06 pm 1:06 pm

really Alex?? , Please give us some examples of FOX ‘s bias and their “playing fast and loose with the truth”
I’ll wait.

Wow people. Calm down and think of the disparaging and slanderous names you are calling your fellow Americans because of different politial views, many of you should be ashamed of your intellectual cowardice. YES MSNBC leans left/democratic/progressive or whatever new name you want to call it to try to fit people in their little boxes. As much as MSNBC is partisan FOX NEWS LIES. You need examples? There is a whole website dedicated to them simply use your google box if you’re interested. Fox news has a clear agenda and admittedly by Ailes will try to *appear* more center in the future, they should drop their claim of fair and balanced.

Obama put on a good show during the last presidential campaign.

What America expected was a dignified, determined Winston Churchill – a stand up guy ready to tackle the most dire threats to his country in more than a generation.

What America got was a devious, divisive eddie haskell – a flimflam guy ready to advance no one’s agenda but his own.

Vote for obama in 2012????? ….hell no. fool me once, shame on you…fool me twice, shame on me.

Posted by: brian edwards | December 20, 2011, 1:38 pm 1:38 pm

Hysterical comments here. What a bunch of haters. Obama is going to win and it won’t be close. The Republican presidential candidate field is flat-out disgraceful, but fairly represents a party that has simply gone off the rails. The Republican Congressional delegation is a fine example: it hyperventilates at the mere mention of the Presiden’t name and wants to refute settled law if it means that the President’s policies might be implemented. Elections have consequences, and Obama won. The right doesn’t accept that, and will have an even harder time when he wins, again.

Guys, this won’t be close. And if you think it will, go ahead and bet on Intrade or something and lose your shirts. Obama will take this clean and simple. And you guys will be left sputttering in the wilderness wondering why the majority of the country doesn’t agree with you. (Hint: stop sputtering, for starters. It’s kind of crazy.)

Obama had to call them in because his poll numbers still aren’t good enough to get him reelected…and they needed to have a good “talking to” about doing their job. Simply put, they were given their marching orders from Der Leader…!!

Wow, Obama actually outwardly campaigning in the White House and ABC dispassionately reporting that the Big Zero met with these incompetent fools.
I wonder, if only there were some laws against electioneering in public buildings and having the taxpayer fund it. Darn it, I guess those only apply to politicians with an (R) next to their name.

there is a saying people we need to know for the next election cycle. you should all remember it when you go in to punch or mark a spot. Two things:

1) Imagine if a guy named George Bush invited:
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, George Will, Rupert Murdoch, and Glenn Beck to talk about his agenda, and how they should attack Democrats?
What would the response be? Would it be limited to one column?

2) Here’s the scariest thing I’ve read on this thread:
“The journalists mentioned are centrists. The president has gone hard right ever since inauguration day – it’s time he had an intervention.”

You have to be seriously left of, say, Stalin, in order to believe that Rachel Maddow, Ed Schwartz, and Josh Marshall are CENTRISTS.
Congrats… that was my laugh-out-loud moment of the day.

The ancient Greek, Diogenes, carried a lamp looking for an honest man. I don’t have a lamp but I am looking for an objective “journalist”. They are hard to find. Whenever I read any article in print or on the Internet, I have to cull it for “opinion” rather than fact. It is annoying and tiring. I don’t even bother reading what these “media stars” have to say. It is all propaganda.

A dictatorship occurs when Media is no longer separate from the White House and refuses to question with boldness, but accepts answers at face value. Sadly, the Media no longer has the curiousity to prevent a dictatorship. God bless this Country – trouble ahead.

Obama and the left-wing talking heads. I’m sure they’ll have a lot to say that will help sink our economy further, keep more Americans out of work, and make us all poorer! Terrifying to think that this is the “counsel” the President of the United States is seeking — and it appears to imply that his re-election campaign is going to tack hard to the left and devolve into class-war rhetoric. In other words, Obama is about to become a one-term president.

It would be nice to have some real substance here. This one paragraph leaves too many questions to be a news story. Who ALL was in attendance. What was the actual purpose of the “coffee.” Who was the person who told Mr. Tapper what the meeting was about? What else was discussed in the “meeting?” This piece is inflammatory and needs a lot more TRUTH for us to know the truth.
